Chapter 113:The Weeping Bride
Too silent.
Lucifer stood at the edge of the water, staring across its perfectly still surface. The moon reflected upon it like a silver coin floating on black glass.
Behind him, Anna tightened her grip on her dagger.
Anna: “So… what’s the plan?”
Lucifer didn't turn around.
“Hide.”
Anna frowned.
Anna: “What?”
“Hide somewhere you can see the battlefield. Don't move until I tell you.”
Anna: “But you said I would be the one to kill her!”
Lucifer finally glanced over his shoulder.
“I did.”
His expression remained completely calm.
“That's why you need to survive long enough to do it.”
Anna clenched her teeth.
Anna: “I can fight.”
“I know.”
“Then let me help.”
“You will.”
Lucifer pointed toward a dense bush several meters away.
“Your part comes later.”
Anna hesitated.
She clearly hated the idea.
But something in Lucifer's expression told her this wasn't a request.
She eventually slipped behind the bush.
Anna: “Don't die.”
Lucifer turned back toward the lake.
“I told you already.”
His eyes narrowed.
“I can't die even if I want to.”
Chirin floated beside him in her scythe form.
Chirin: “You're really going to fight her alone?”
“For now.”
“And if she's stronger than expected?”
“Then I'll adjust.”
Chirin sighed.
“You always make everything sound so simple.”
Lucifer's fingers tightened around her handle.
“Because panic doesn't make anyone stronger.”
Then—
BOOM!
Lucifer swung Chirin.
A crimson slash tore across the surface of the lake.
The water split apart.
The shockwave carved through the surrounding trees before disappearing into the darkness.
For several seconds…
Nothing happened.
Then the lake began to boil.
Bubbles rose from beneath the surface.
One.
Two.
Ten.
Hundreds.
The moon's reflection shattered.
A woman's hand emerged from the water.
Then another.
A white wedding dress slowly surfaced.
Long black hair floated around her like a mass of living snakes.
Her head lifted.
Blood streamed from empty eye sockets.
Her lips slowly curved upward.
La Llorona.
Lucifer's expression didn't change.
“There you are.”
The ghost screamed.
The entire mountain trembled.
The water exploded.
La Llorona shot toward Lucifer.
Her hair whipped through the air like hundreds of black threads.
Lucifer vanished.
BOOM!
The ground behind him exploded.
He appeared several meters away.
“Fast.”
The ghost's hair suddenly changed direction.
Lucifer's eyes sharpened.
“Demonic Eyes.”
The world changed.
Every movement became clearer.
Every strand of hair carried soul energy.
Every thread had a purpose.
Lucifer stepped between them.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
He moved through the barrage with almost mechanical precision.
Chirin: “They're following you!”
“I noticed.”
Lucifer spun.
Dismantle.
Multiple crimson slashes tore through the incoming hair.
The severed strands fell into the lake—
and immediately regenerated.
Lucifer's eyes narrowed.
“Regeneration.”
La Llorona opened her hands.
Ten strands of hair extended from each finger.
Twenty threads.
Each one glowed with dark soul energy.
They spread across the battlefield like a spiderweb.
Chirin: “That's new.”
Lucifer smiled faintly.
“Good.”
The threads suddenly tightened.
SHING!
The entire forest was sliced apart.
Trees collapsed.
Rocks split.
The ground itself was carved into countless lines.
Lucifer jumped backward.
A thread grazed his shoulder.
Blood appeared.
His eyes moved toward the wound.
Then back to La Llorona.
“Her threads aren't merely physical.”
Chirin: “They're attacking your soul too.”
“Exactly.”
Lucifer raised his hand.
Blood Manipulation.
His blood shot outward and formed dozens of crimson needles.
La Llorona moved.
The needles followed.
She twisted her body unnaturally, avoiding most of them.
Three pierced her shoulder.
One struck her abdomen.
Another went through her arm.
The ghost screamed.
Lucifer didn't hesitate.
“Cleave.”
A massive crimson slash descended.
La Llorona crossed her arms.
Her hair formed a shield.
BOOM!
The shield shattered.
She was thrown across the lake.
Lucifer landed on the water.
His feet touched the surface without sinking.
Chirin: “She's weakened.”
“I know.”
Lucifer's eyes remained fixed on the ghost.
“But she's still hiding something.”
La Llorona slowly stood.
Her wedding dress was torn.
Black hair covered half her face.
Then she smiled.
The lake began turning red.
Lucifer's expression finally became serious.
“That's the second phase.”
The water behind La Llorona rose.
Not like a wave.
Like a wall.
Hundreds of ghostly hands emerged from beneath it.
Chirin: “Lucifer!”
“I see them.”
The hands rushed toward him.
Lucifer disappeared.
Sin of Sloth.
His presence vanished.
The ghostly hands grabbed nothing.
Lucifer reappeared behind La Llorona.
Severance.
A crimson line crossed her back.
The ghost screamed.
Lucifer immediately followed with—
Raging Tempest.
A crimson tornado erupted across the lake.
Water, trees and ghostly energy were thrown into the air.
La Llorona was caught inside the storm.
Lucifer raised Chirin.
Sin of Wrath.
His power surged.
Then—
Cleave.
The storm itself split.
La Llorona was thrown from the vortex.
She crashed into the ground.
Lucifer landed several meters away.
His breathing had become heavier.
Chirin noticed.
Chirin: “Your body's reaching its limit.”
“I know.”
“You should finish this quickly.”
Lucifer stared at La Llorona.
“I intend to.”
La Llorona suddenly laughed.
Her hair erupted outward.
The ten fingers of both hands moved.
The threads formed an enormous web.
Lucifer's eyes narrowed.
“She's sacrificing her remaining energy.”
The web descended.
Lucifer raised his hand.
Blood Prison.
A crimson barrier surrounded him.
The threads collided.
CRACK!
The barrier began breaking.
Lucifer's eyes remained cold.
“Not enough.”
Blood flowed from his fingertips.
He manipulated it into chains.
Blood Chain.
The chains shot outward and wrapped around La Llorona's limbs.
For the first time—
she stopped moving.
Lucifer pulled.
La Llorona was dragged toward him.
“Now.”
Chirin transformed into a massive scythe.
Lucifer swung.
Cleave.
The attack tore through the ghost.
La Llorona's body split apart.
Her scream echoed across the mountain.
The lake went silent.
Her body began dissolving.
Chirin: “We won.”
Lucifer didn't answer.
His eyes remained on the dissolving ghost.
“Not yet.”
Then he heard footsteps.
Lucifer looked toward the bushes.
Anna emerged.
Her dagger was tightly held in her hand.
Anna: “I can finish her!”
Lucifer's eyes widened slightly.
“Anna, wait.”
Too late.
The girl rushed forward.
La Llorona's head suddenly turned.
Her empty eye sockets focused directly on Anna.
Lucifer's expression changed.
“Damn.”
La Llorona's remaining hair shot forward.
Anna raised her dagger.
But instead of attacking—
the ghost opened her arms.
Her body became liquid shadow.
Anna disappeared inside her.
“ANNA!”
Lucifer moved instantly.
But the lake exploded between them.
A massive wave of dark soul energy threw Lucifer backward.
He landed on one knee.
Silence.
Then—
La Llorona rose from the lake.
Her body had changed.
Her wounds had disappeared.
Her torn wedding dress was whole again.
And inside her chest—
Anna's silhouette could be seen struggling.
Chirin's voice became tense.
“She absorbed her.”
Lucifer slowly stood.
His eyes became colder.
The ghost's soul energy began climbing.
Higher.
Higher.
Higher.
Lucifer looked at her without fear.
“Interesting.”
La Llorona screamed.
The mountain shook.
Every strand of hair around her transformed into razor-sharp black threads.
The entire lake began rising behind her.
Chirin: “She's much stronger than before!”
Lucifer tightened his grip on Chirin.
His body was already exhausted.
His soul energy was running low.
And Anna was trapped inside the ghost.
Lucifer stared at the monstrous figure before him.
Then he calmly stepped forward.
“Second round.”
La Llorona's threads suddenly shot toward him from every direction.
Lucifer's eyes narrowed.
And for the first time that night—
he smiled.
