Chapter 400: Wedding in Progress 1
Lai Yilian had short, golden-blonde hair, and her deep-set features gave her an exotic air. Jiang Yan was also a dazzling beauty, her eyes sharp and striking. Anyone could tell at a glance that both women were gorgeous.
And now, both of them were earnestly complimenting her.
Shi Lan felt a little embarrassed listening to them, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Oh, come on. You two are so beautiful yourselves, stop teasing me. Is there anyone here who isn’t gorgeous?"
Hearing this, Jiang Yan and Lai Yilian burst out laughing.
They were getting ready in Shi Lan’s old bedroom on Black Star, and the room was filled with laughter. Meanwhile, on the bed in the corner, the six little cubs sat obediently with their chins in their hands, glancing back and forth at each other.
This time, they weren’t running around and causing trouble like usual. They were all wearing new clothes, and Aunt Yan had specifically warned them not to get them dirty.
Yi Yi tugged at his little white suit. A red rose was tucked into his breast pocket.
He looked down at the rose curiously, his red eyes blinking. He wanted to touch it but didn’t dare, afraid he might ruin it.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Wu Wu pull the rose from his pocket and prepare to stuff it into his mouth. Just as Yi Yi was about to say something, San San smacked Wu Wu on the forehead. "Wu Wu, you can’t eat that flower."
Wu Wu froze with his mouth wide open, looking terribly wronged.
Fofu glanced at him from the side. Wu Wu hadn’t even shed a tear yet, but Fofu had already started to cry.
"WAAAH, GAA GAA..."
Probably influenced by his beast form, he now tried to imitate bird calls when he cried, though he never got them quite right.
San San propped up her chubby cheeks and sighed like a little adult. Her jet-black eyes darted around before she expertly pulled a teething stick from the Space Chain around her neck and stuck it in Fofu’s mouth. She then stuffed a piece of pastry into Wu Wu’s mouth as well.
Wu Wu instantly tossed the flower onto the bed. Fofu stopped crying at once and began to wrestle with the teething stick in his mouth.
From the side, Yi Yi gave San San a thumbs-up. In the middle of the group, Er Er silently picked the rose up from the bed and tucked it back into Wu Wu’s pocket where it belonged.
Liu Liu, the youngest and smallest of the cubs, fluttered his long eyelashes. He hopped off the bed, his bright green eyes carrying a naturally pitiful, dewy look.
He walked over to San San and said softly, "Sister, Liu Liu is a little hungry, too. Can I have a piece of pastry?"
’Here he goes again.’
Yi Yi muttered to himself. With just a glance, he knew what little scheme Liu Liu was hatching.
San San generously pulled out another piece. As the only girl among the cubs, she was quite adept at resolving her brothers’ little conflicts. She carried herself like a proper big sister, always ready to act as a peacemaker. Her Space Chain was full of pastries and snacks meant to placate her brothers—especially the little foodie, Wu Wu.
San San handed the pastry to Liu Liu. He smiled, a dimple appearing at the corner of his rosy lips as he took it. "Thank you, Sister! You’re the best! Liu Liu likes you the most."
"Hehe, Sister likes you too."
The compliments made San San so happy she was practically giddy. She patted his little head and gently straightened his wrinkled suit jacket.
Liu Liu’s smile grew even brighter. Holding the pastry, he trotted over to Shi Lan on his short little legs and said in his childish voice, "Mama, are you hungry? I have a pastry for you."
Shi Lan was holding her head still for Jiang Yan to work on her hair, so she couldn’t look down. Instead, she looked at his reflection in the mirror and said gently, "Sweetheart, Mama is busy right now and not hungry yet. You’re such a good boy. Why don’t you eat the pastry?"
Beside them, Jiang Yan’s heart melted at the sight of Liu Liu’s obedient and chubby little face. "Oh, what a precious boy! Ahhh, when will I have a sweet baby like Liu Liu?"
Lai Yilian felt the same. She was proudly child-free by choice—an unconventional stance she had already discussed with her Beast Husband. But now, looking at Shi Lan’s children, she was starting to feel an itch. "Oh my, this is making me want to have a baby, too."
A smile touched Shi Lan’s lips. "My babies really are all very well-behaved. I’m so glad I had them."
Lai Yilian pinched Liu Liu’s soft little cheek. "Little Liu Liu, give that pastry to me. Your mom doesn’t want it."
"Oh~"
Liu Liu pouted and, with a little mumble, broke the pastry in half. He fed one piece to Lai Yilian and gave the other to Jiang Yan.
Jiang Yan’s and Lai Yilian’s hearts completely melted. "Clever boy. He’s already such a little flirt."
"He’ll definitely have no trouble with females in the future."
Shi Lan felt the same way. Ye Ming could be so reticent, but these two kids hadn’t inherited that trait from him in the slightest.
San San was the action-oriented big sister, seemingly aloof but soft-hearted on the inside. Liu Liu, on the other hand, was a bit of a sweet-talker, already a master of words at his young age.
’Take this pastry, for instance,’ Shi Lan thought. ’I heard everything. He got it from San San.’
’The little guy certainly knew how to win favor with someone else’s gift, but it wasn’t the least bit annoying.’
After feeding them the pastry and receiving affectionate head pats from his two aunts, Liu Liu obediently returned to his spot on the bed.
San San shot him a look but didn’t say anything. ’After all, she knew what her little brother was like. And since it was for Mama, she wouldn’t make a fuss. It’s not like Mama would love them any less because of one little pastry.’
Yi Yi pursed his lips. ’I knew he’d do that.’
’Hmph. Like that’s so hard.’
Yi Yi also hopped down and walked over to Shi Lan. "Mama, Mama, my tails are a little itchy. Can you scratch them for me?"
As he spoke, the four tails he had just manifested popped out from his trousers.
Shi Lan’s eyes instantly lit up. Watching in the mirror, she reached back and gently stroked the Little Red Fox’s tails. "My little cub, still itchy?"
Yi Yi shook his head. "Not itchy anymore. Mama is the best."
Shi Lan held back a laugh, not wanting to expose her little cub’s ploy for attention. She gave his tails one last, reluctant stroke before telling him to put them away. Then she added instructively, "Sweetheart, you’re a big boy now. In the future, you can’t just show your tails and let anyone touch them. It’s not elegant. You need to be a little gentleman."
’As for herself, she knew that when the cubs got a little older, she would also have to avoid touching their sensitive spots, like their tails and stomachs.’
’Of course, Yi Yi understood. He would never let just anyone touch his tails—only Mama and Papa.’
He nodded obediently and complimented Shi Lan, "Mama looks so pretty today, like a fairy."
"Thank you, sweetheart."
Shi Lan smiled, and Jiang Yan and Lai Yilian felt another pang of envy.
Lai Yilian looked at Yi Yi’s captivating fox eyes, inherited from his father. He was already so handsome at such a young age. Her hands itched to pinch his cheeks, but Yi Yi cleverly took a step back and flashed a grin. "Aunt Yan, Aunt Lian, you both look very pretty today, too. Thank you for all your hard work getting Mama ready."
Jiang Yan and Lai Yilian immediately insisted it was no trouble. Seizing the opportunity, Yi Yi retreated to the bed, successfully dodging Lai Yilian’s face-pinching hands.
Er Er glanced at him, blinking his big, gentle blue eyes. He pursed his lips and said nothing, but his little palm was clenched tightly around something.
Fofu was hard at work, chomping on his teething stick, CRUNCH CRUNCH. He had no time to cry.
Wu Wu finished his pastry in a couple of bites and began to mumble about wanting more, so San San gave him another piece.
Liu Liu yawned, starting to get sleepy.
The children settled back into a quiet and harmonious state.
