Chapter 255: White Lion Smashes the Door

"Second Prince, where is the enemy?"

The soldiers glanced at each other, bewildered. Covering his face, Ye Yan glared at them in exasperation. "Useless! How are you patrolling? Something that big, and you’re not going to look for it?"

"But, Second Prince, what was it exactly? We didn’t sense anything."

The squad leader asked in confusion. Ye Yan let out a furious sneer. "Are you the guard, or am I? Find it yourselves."

’Damn it, I didn’t get a clear look either. I don’t even know what hit me in the face.’

The soldiers had no choice but to leave and intensify their patrols around the side palace.

Ye Yan clutched his aching face. When he took his hand away, he saw traces of blood on it.

In that instant, the good mood he had been in all evening vanished completely.

Ye Yan had initially been gloating over seeing Ye Ming propose to that useless female. But then he heard about the Insect Clan and knew Ye Ming and his group would certainly be sent to fight. Instead of joining the fray, he held back, maliciously hoping their spiritual power would collapse just like it did three years ago.

This was the first time he had felt so vindicated since Ye Ming’s return. He was just trying to celebrate a little, but who knew he’d run into such a frustrating mess.

"What rotten luck!"

Ye Yan frowned, covering his face as he went back to his room for treatment.

Meanwhile, He Hanshi had already followed the walls and successfully left the palace grounds.

After leaving the palace, a strange awareness inexplicably appeared in his mind, guiding him to run in a certain direction, as if some important treasure was waiting for him there.

When the chip vibrated, the White Lion glanced down at his paws with dazed, crimson eyes. He paid it no mind, pressing forward single-mindedly.

Shi Lan couldn’t contact him and was frantic with worry.

He Hanshi wasn’t with Ye Ming, and going to the palace now would be useless.

Shi Lan thought it would be better to just go home; maybe He Hanshi would return there.

With that thought, the Hovercar turned around and headed for He Hanshi’s house.

He Hanshi had indeed run home. The main gate was shut tight, the defenses solid.

He had intended to force his way in, but as soon as he reached the entrance, the gate sensed its master’s information and opened automatically. So in the end, he didn’t have to violently destroy the outer gate.

As for the villa inside the courtyard, he didn’t use the front door, jumping straight through a window instead.

The White Lion’s pink nose sniffed around the room, so meticulously that he didn’t even spare the carpet in the first-floor hall.

Perhaps catching a familiar, comforting scent, he pawed at the sofa a couple of times, then followed the increasingly strong aroma all the way to Shi Lan’s room.

He used the same violent method, ramming the door open with his head.

In an instant, a familiar fragrance flooded his nostrils and seeped into every fiber of his being. The crimson in the White Lion’s eyes receded significantly.

He shook his head, which bobbed with every huff from his nose. Finally, he dove onto the several-meter-wide bed in the room, the massive lion draping himself over Shi Lan’s small comforter.

The comforter was only large enough to cover a small part of his body.

Even so, the White Lion calmed down a lot. His restlessly twitching tail gradually stilled, and he finally lay quietly on the bed.

But soon, he felt the scent in the room had faded. He still had the feeling that he hadn’t found the treasure he was looking for.

So, the White Lion started moving around the room again.

Shi Lan returned to the villa, her mind in turmoil. She had barely stepped into the courtyard when she noticed one of the villa’s windows was gone.

She walked over for a look and saw a floor of shattered glass.

Shi Lan’s heart immediately began to pound. She had a feeling He Hanshi was back.

She eagerly opened the door and went inside.

She had left in a hurry, but the lights in the house were all motion-activated.

Right now, the lights in the first-floor living room were dark, while the upper floor was brightly lit.

The moment Shi Lan opened the door, the living room lights switched on as if welcoming their master home. Upstairs on the roof, the White Lion had just flattened a chair—one Shi Lan usually sat on to enjoy the breeze and look at the scenery with her telescope. Hearing the sound from below, his ears pricked up alertly.

His pupils contracted slightly as he padded down from the roof with light, silent steps.

Meanwhile, Shi Lan had gone up to the second floor. She saw that the door to her room was broken and immediately went inside, but she didn’t find any sign of He Hanshi.

Although this room was hers, it had actually been He Hanshi’s master bedroom before. Of everything in it, the bed was what she used the most.

Shi Lan saw several dark paw prints on the bed.

A smile suddenly touched her lips, and she let out a long sigh of relief. It seemed He Hanshi really was back.

’He’s still in his beast form, though, so his condition probably isn’t good. But as long as he’s home, I can find a way to heal him.’

’Still, I’m not sure. He Hanshi attacked Ye Ming without mercy in this state... would he really hurt me?’

She momentarily pushed her thoughts aside, thinking of turning into a mushroom to continue searching the room for He Hanshi. But just as she turned, a colossal creature charged at her, knocking her directly onto the bed.

Shi Lan let out a soft "Oof!" as she landed on the soft bedding.

The White Lion pinned her by the shoulders, but seeing how small she was, he instinctively held back his full weight. Even so, he was excited. In his state of Beastification, a fraction of his strength was more than enough to overpower Shi Lan’s human form, and she was easily pinned beneath him.

She looked up at He Hanshi, surprise and joy shining in her eyes. "He Hanshi, you’re back! This is wonderful!"

Her face lit up with happiness. Seeing his calm expression, which held no hint of aggression and even seemed somewhat docile, she thought his spiritual power collapse episode had passed. She couldn’t help but say, "He Hanshi, you had me so worried! I’m so glad you’re okay. First, check your spiritual power collapse value. I’ll help you with your treatment tonight."

He Hanshi’s furry head brushed against her cheek. The body beneath his paws was soft and warm. A low purr rumbled in his throat. His soft, pink nose sniffed all over her face, and finally, his tongue couldn’t resist lightly licking her cheek.

"Smells nice, Lanlan."

"I like it."

He whispered.

White Lions are felines, so their tongues inevitably have barbs. However, perhaps because he was a Beastman and not just a simple beast—possessing some mutations—the barbs on his tongue weren’t that sharp. They were more like a soft brush, tickling her as it swept across her face.

The White Lion took a lick, seeming to like it very much. His tongue swept across Shi Lan’s cheek, then buried itself in her neck, licking her affectionately.

A flicker of disappointment crossed Shi Lan’s heart. She studied him closely; she had thought his mind had returned to normal, but it was clear he was still not fully lucid.

Still, it was much better than she had expected. At least he hadn’t gone out causing destruction—he even knew enough to come home. His licking left her cheeks damp. When she felt his massive, furry head pressing insistently against her neck, seemingly trying to burrow into her clothes, her face instantly flushed and her body grew warm.

Shi Lan quickly placed a hand on his head, stroking it soothingly. Her voice was gentle. "He Hanshi, don’t move for a moment. Let me heal you, okay?"
