The Void Empress Returns: A F*tanari’s Path to Immortal Domination

Chapter 14: Bonds of Blood and Devotion

The first light of dawn painted the drifting clouds around the Void Empress Sky Palace in hues of gold and soft purple. After a night of brutal efficiency and swift travel through spatial rifts, the Void Empress finally returned home.

She emerged from a shimmering void portal directly into one of her private audience chambers within the ancestral spire. Behind her, Su Wei, Liu Mei, and young Su Chen stepped forward hesitantly, still wrapped in the gentle protective cocoon of void energy that had healed their worst injuries and cleansed their bodies during the journey.

The family looked around in awe and lingering fear. The opulent chamber, with its black-and-purple decorations, glowing runes, and ethereal atmosphere, felt like another world compared to the filthy darkness of the Shadow Suppression Prison.

Su Qinglan was already waiting.

The moment the portal stabilized, she dropped to her knees in the centre of the room, her long black hair flowing down her back. She wore a fresh set of elegant attendant robes, but the faint marks on her neck and wrists were still visible. Her eyes lit up with overwhelming emotion the instant she saw her family.

“Father… Mother… Chen’er…!” Her voice broke as tears immediately spilled down her cheeks.

“Qinglan!” Liu Mei cried out, rushing forward despite her exhaustion. She pulled her daughter into a tight embrace, sobbing uncontrollably. Su Wei followed right behind, wrapping his arms around both of them. Young Su Chen clung to his sister’s waist, burying his face in her robes and crying silently.

The family reunion was raw and heartfelt. They held each other as if afraid the moment would vanish. Liu Mei stroked her daughter’s hair repeatedly, whispering through her tears, “My baby… you’re alive… you’re really alive…”

Su Qinglan cried harder than she had in years. The soul binding pulsed warmly in her chest, but even without it, the relief of seeing her family safe would have overwhelmed her.

“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry for everything,” she whispered brokenly. “I failed you for so long. But the Young Mistress… she saved you. She kept her promise.”

Su Wei pulled back slightly, his eyes red and filled with complex emotions as he looked at his daughter. He noticed the subtle changes in her, the stronger aura of an 8th layer Qi Condensation cultivator, the faint black-purple traces of void energy in her meridians, and the unmistakable marks of possession on her skin.

“Qinglan… what happened to you?” he asked quietly, voice thick with worry. “Your cultivation… and these marks…”

Su Qinglan lowered her head, cheeks flushing with a mixture of shame and deep devotion. She glanced toward the Empress, who stood silently a few steps away, watching the reunion with cold, regal indifference.

“The Young Mistress… saved me,” she said softly. “She freed me from the Heavenly Radiance Sect’s control. She broke the seal they placed on my cultivation and gave me power. I… I belong to her now. Completely.”

The family fell silent, their eyes shifting toward the silver-haired figure standing nearby.

The Void Empress stepped forward gracefully, her dark purple robes flowing around her perfect figure. Her crimson eyes swept over the reunited family with calm authority.

“You no longer need to fear the Heavenly Radiance Sect,” she declared, her voice smooth and commanding. “Your daughter has proven her worth and loyalty. As promised, I have brought you here under my protection. You will be given proper quarters, resources for recovery, and protection within the Sky Palace. In return, you will serve the Primordial Void Immortal Clan faithfully.”

Su Wei bowed deeply, still holding his wife and children close. “We… we are grateful, Young Mistress. Thank you for saving us. We will repay this debt however we can.”

Liu Mei looked at her daughter with tearful eyes, clearly sensing the profound change in her. She could see the way Qinglan gazed at Ling Zihan, with fear, reverence, and undeniable devotion. It unsettled her, but after months of torture in that prison, she was willing to accept almost anything if it meant their family could stay together and safe.

Su Chen, still clinging to his sister, looked up at the Empress with wide, fearful but curious eyes.

The Empress’s expression remained aloof, but inwardly she felt a flicker of satisfaction. This reunion would bind Su Qinglan even more tightly to her cause. A loyal servant with a grateful family was far more valuable than one driven only by fear.

“Qinglan,” the Empress said softly, “you may spend the day with your family. Help them settle in. Explain what is expected of them. Tonight, you will return to my chambers.”

Su Qinglan’s cheeks flushed deeper, but she bowed respectfully. “Yes, Young Mistress. Thank you for your mercy.”

As the Empress turned to leave, giving the family some privacy, Su Qinglan held her mother and brother tighter, whispering gently to them.

“I know it’s frightening… but she is not like the Radiance Sect. She is far stronger. And as long as we serve her well, we will be protected. I… I have seen her power. She can give us all a better future.”

The family huddled together, crying, hugging, and slowly beginning to process everything that had happened. For the first time in years, they had hope, even if that hope came wrapped in the shadow of an overwhelming, dominant sovereign.

The Void Empress, now walking down the corridor outside, allowed herself a faint, cold smile.

Later that evening, in Ling Qingmei’s private elder chambers, the atmosphere was thick with tension.

The mature beauty paced back and forth in front of a large window overlooking the drifting clouds. Her silver hair was slightly dishevelled from running her hands through it repeatedly. When the doors opened and her daughter stepped inside, Qingmei immediately turned, her crimson eyes flashing with a storm of emotions.

“Zihan!” she exclaimed, her voice sharp with both relief and anger. “What in the heavens were you thinking?!”

The Void Empress, still wearing Ling Zihan’s flawless cold facade, closed the doors behind her with a calm wave of her hand. She stood tall and regal, her silver-white hair shimmering under the soft lantern light.

“Mother,” she replied evenly, “I assume you’ve heard about the rescue.”

“Heard about it?” Qingmei’s voice rose as she stepped closer. “The entire elder council is in an uproar! You infiltrated the Heavenly Radiance Sect’s Shadow Suppression Prison, slaughtered multiple Spiritual Sea Realm guards, and left one of their spies flayed alive as a warning! Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?!”

She reached out and grabbed her daughter’s shoulders, her grip tight with maternal worry.

“You only broke through to Spiritual Sea Realm yesterday! Yesterday, Zihan! And you went straight into the heart of enemy territory, alone, without informing any of the elders, without backup, without even telling your own mother!” Qingmei’s voice cracked slightly. “What if something had gone wrong? What if they had stronger guardians or hidden formations? You could have been killed or captured!”

The Empress looked down at her mother with calm, unyielding crimson eyes. There was no guilt, no fear, only cold certainty.

“I was never in any real danger,” she said softly, yet with absolute authority. “Those guards were nothing more than ants. The Heavenly Radiance Sect’s so-called security was laughable. I handled it efficiently and returned safely. There was no need to involve others.”

Qingmei shook her head, tears of frustration and fear glistening in her eyes.

“That’s not the point! You are the hope of our clan. The only one who can lead us in the upcoming tournament. If you die on some reckless solo mission…” Her voice trembled. “I almost lost you once in the ancestral chamber. I cannot bear the thought of losing you again so soon after you’ve given us all hope.”

She pulled her daughter into a tight embrace, burying her face against Zihan’s shoulder. Her full breasts pressed softly against her as she held on desperately.

“You are too ruthless… too bold,” Qingmei whispered. “I am proud of your strength, more than you can imagine. But you must stop throwing yourself into such dangerous situations. You are not invincible, no matter how powerful you’ve become. You still have a mother who worries for you.”

The Void Empress remained still for a moment, allowing the embrace. Inside, she felt a faint, almost nostalgic amusement. This woman’s maternal love was genuine, if misplaced on the original Ling Zihan. It could be useful.

She gently placed a hand on her mother’s back, her voice softening just enough to sound reassuring while still carrying imperial weight.

“Mother, I understand your concern. But times of decline demand decisive action. The Heavenly Radiance Sect has tormented us for centuries. They imprisoned and tortured the family of one of our own. I will not tolerate such insults any longer. By rescuing them so brutally, I have sent a clear message — the Void Clan is no longer weak. We strike back.”

Qingmei pulled back slightly, searching her daughter’s cold, beautiful face. She could sense the subtle differences more clearly now, the ancient depth behind those crimson eyes.

“You’ve changed so much since the breakthrough,” she murmured, a trace of unease in her voice. “The ruthlessness… the power… it frightens me sometimes.”

The Empress cupped her mother’s cheek with elegant fingers, her touch cool yet possessive.

“Do not fear change, Mother. Fear only weakness. I will restore our clan to glory, and I will protect what belongs to me. That includes you.”

Ling Qingmei stared into those piercing eyes for a long moment before letting out a heavy sigh. She leaned forward and pressed her forehead against her daughter’s.

“Just… promise me you won’t go on such dangerous missions without at least telling me first. I may not be as strong as you now, but I am still your mother. Let me support you, even if it’s only with my worry.”

The Empress gave a small, regal nod.

“I will consider it.”

She leaned in and placed a light kiss on her mother’s forehead, a rare gesture that made Qingmei’s heart flutter with both comfort and strange, forbidden warmth.

For now, the scolding had ended. But Ling Qingmei’s maternal instincts told her that her daughter’s transformation was far from over… and far more dangerous than anyone realized.
