Chapter 541 - 520 Second Update
The snow was white and extensive, stretching from the endless mountains. Between these mountains, a patch of land with black pine forests emerged, and the majority of the North Border Army had already crossed the last frozen defensive line. The plains in front of them were gradually revealing their original black soil, deep and hard as stone.
"Marquis, Yulin County is just ahead; two days from now, we should reach Zheng Capital," reported the soldier.
The Marquis of Zhenbei nodded and looked up into the distance, his mood brightening as he gazed over the vast forest ahead.
"How is the situation in Zheng Capital?" the Marquis of Zhenbei inquired. Since the people from Ghoul Ravine had left on their own accord, they had had it much easier, and the Marquis of Zhenbei had even hastened the army’s march. Stationed long-term in the snow-covered regions, the North Border Army had developed extraordinary endurance and had reached Yulin County in less than two days.
"Reporting to the Marquis, according to the messages received, the Southeastern Army and the Eastern Border Army have arrived in Zheng Capital as planned," the soldier replied promptly.
"Good," nodded the Marquis of Zhenbei. Though he was slightly late, he had nonetheless fulfilled his important trust, and things were gradually beginning to go smoothly. The Marquis of Zhenbei patted his horse and was about to speak when several dark shadows rapidly approached, drawing everyone’s attention to these few points in the distance.
The newly arrived soldiers were taken aback as well; they had ridden hard without noticing anyone behind them. However, the others quickly reached the front of their formation, dressed in the uniforms of Nanzheng State soldiers, which immediately tensed everyone in the formation.
The group came straight to the front of the formation, their faces unfamiliar. Yet they looked directly at the Marquis of Zhenbei’s group, and upon seeing the flag of the North Border Army, immediately dismounted from their horses and quickly walked toward the Marquis of Zhenbei.
Several of the Marquis of Zhenbei’s trusted aides moved to intercept, but the Marquis of Zhenbei slightly raised his hand to stop them. The soldiers were already kneeling on the ground.
