Chapter 330 - 320: Second Update
"You lowlife, what trouble have you caused now? You’ve ruined your brother." Mother Wen wished she could spit on Wen Ying, preferring to have her buried along with her own son. She knew exactly the kind of person Wen Ling was—stable and reliable, except when it came to his sister. When had he ever caused her anxiety?
Wen Ying clutched her beaten cheek, frozen with fear. She hadn’t done anything wrong. But seeing the look in her mother’s eyes, as if she wanted to devour her, Wen Ying panicked and crawled towards Mother Wen.
"Mother, Mother, I haven’t done anything wrong, nothing at all," Wen Ying hastily said.
"Slap—" Mother Wen was not so easily deceived. Seeing Wen Ying’s state, she knew there must be something wrong, "Wretch, if you utter one more false word, I will kill you today, to accompany your brother’s death. Didn’t you go out two days ago? What did you do? What exactly did you do?"
Wen Ying’s cheeks swelled, and finally, fear appeared in her eyes, slowly retreating towards Father Wen.
"Mother, Father, I really didn’t do anything wrong. Two days ago, I merely went to dine at the Riverfood Restaurant with a few sisters who I usually get along with very well, Mother, you know all of them."
Mother Wen stared coldly. This daughter was arrogant and always trying to ingratiate herself with those ladies from prominent families. Initially, Mother Wen thought she could turn a blind eye, hoping to leverage this for a good marriage for her son and take advantage of the situation.
"We were halfway through our meal when someone from the neighboring window threw over an entire plate of food, drenching us in it. Outraged, we argued back a few words.
But, Mother, that brazen woman didn’t even regard Eldest Madam Zong of Zong Sheng Residence, she had no intention of letting us go, and Brother just happened to be nearby and defended us a few words..."
Wen Ying’s voice weakened. Her goal that day had been to fulfill her young companions’ wishes to meet Wen Ling, and so she had secretly sent a maid to send a message to Wen Ling to come to the Riverfood Restaurant.
"You, you’ve offended someone, and turned it around to blame your brother," Mother Wen pointed at Wen Ying. She wasn’t foolish; she knew exactly where the problem lay. She had thought that her son, who was always so well-behaved, couldn’t possibly be in trouble, "Why don’t you die? Why don’t you die? The trouble you’ve caused has now harmed your brother."
Mother Wen shouted, looking around the room for something handy. She wanted to kill this troublemaker.
