Death Flag System: I Became An Extra From The Author Who Killed Me!

Chapter 174: Supply Of Mimic Abilities

Cillian immediately left the armory with Phillip and Vin following behind him. Since the deal they had made with Fergus was already over and they had been paid, they followed Cillian out after grabbing weapons they liked from the armory, not even bothering to thank Fergus.

Although they knew that Fergus had used them to get Cillian’s attention, as long as Fergus hadn’t harmed them and they had received payment during these tough times, both of them seemed to know that Cillian didn’t mind.

Meh, they didn’t really care at this point. Following Cillian around was better.

"Wait, we’re lost."

However, because they continued following him without any particular direction in mind, the trio found themselves unable to return to the entrance they had used earlier.

The two could only stare at Cillian’s back as he looked left and right, clearly confused.

...

"Right. Would you be interested in some additional payment? All you have to do is let me see your abilities."

Suddenly, as they were about to part ways, they saw Cillian wearing a stone-faced expression, clearly lying to them. They could sense that he simply wanted to see their abilities for some reason, so they stared at him suspiciously.

They were already out of Viola’s wrecked residence after an hour of sneaking around and following the people moving through the place. Since it wasn’t just a simple residence and had been secured right before Khalish’s death, they obviously didn’t know their way in and out.

’Wait, he asked me the same thing back then. Hmm, is it related to his ability? Well, we did see him wield Aster’s sword and kill that Berserk Captain. It might be related to that.’

Vin pondered, trying to connect the dots himself. He knew he was close to figuring it out and might be able to guess it later, since he was willing to accept Cillian’s request even without any kind of payment.

However, he was also running out of budget to do so, so he was not going to miss the opportunity to earn a few coins.

Phillip was in the same boat. His grandparents needed medical attention, and he was in dire need of any money he could get, as the payment from Fergus wasn’t enough to cover his living expenses.

"We can do it."

"That’s no problem, Cillian."

’Oh nice. I have a supply of abilities I can mimic now.’

Cillian was happy that he could mimic that Buddy from Vin, which had surely helped him both times he used it, while feeling blessed to be able to copy his new ability. As for Phillip’s newly acquired power, he knew it would be of some use since he had always believed that no ability was useless.

"Okay, I’ll see you in the next three days."

Those days quickly passed by and they met again.

This time, Cillian was well-dressed, his attire almost identical to what he had worn when he was working as a detective. He met with Phillip and Vin, who were also wearing formal attire, black suit and pants.

The reason was that two things were happening on the same day.

The Montolov Party and the Memorial Service.

The Montolov Party was an event held to further improve the current situation in Viola, involving many influential people. There were a lot of things to discuss, including Montolov’s charity work, which Cillian’s family was involved in.

Obviously, there is a lot of agenda at play here.

And all the people involved here are planning to achieve a lot of things today.

The Memorial Service is another event that will happen after the Montolov Party, where everyone is requested to attend to officially honor those who died in the recent attack, known in recent news as ’God’s Descent.’

Then, after this day, a great change will come over Viola, whether it is in the above world or the Underworld.

And Cillian will influence a lot of things in both of them, especially when it comes to the Underworld, where he’ll become its king.

If no problem arise, of course.

But first.

"Show it to me, Phillip."

They were currently in an open area where no one was supposed to be watching them. They had already made a round trip to secure the perimeter so that no one would accidentally see them.

"My Piece is called Spin, and I have one active ability called Drill Pierce."

Phillip, who was carrying a short sword he had picked from Viola’s armory three days ago, extended his hand forward.

Then, he began to activate his Piece with its active ability.

’It’s a thrust!’

Cillian saw Phillip’s hand spinning forward, almost like a drill cutting through the air. If Phillip used this skill against an opponent, it might be able to focus on a single spot and even break through their armor.

[Mimicry Success]

Cillian saw his mimicry succeed after nine attempts and let out a short sigh. The more he used Faceless, the more he was able to stabilize his control, to the point where he could perform hundreds of mimicries in a day without feeling dizzy, even if most of them failed, while activating the abilities he copied at the same time.

"Uhm Cillian, when the hell should I stop?"

Feeling his hand getting numb from the repeated spinning motion, Phillip asked politely as beads of sweat rolled down his face.

"You can stop now."

Phillip immediately stopped while letting out a short sigh.

"Go next, Vin."

Vin nodded as he activated his Buddy and used its active ability, Hop. Cillian was able to successfully copy it after only five tries.

"Wait... just give me a moment... Hahh..."

Vin let out a ragged breath as he came to a halt while extending his hand forward. He felt like Cillian would have kept urging him to continue if he hadn’t said anything.

’I know the troubles of being an Improper Ruiner. Tsk, if only I knew where to find a Zero Piece, I might’ve given Phillip something.’

Cillian pondered inwardly before seeing Vin continue speaking after giving him a moment to catch his breath.

"Phillip, one thing about Ruiners is that you don’t tell others what your ability is. Cillian never told you to reveal your Piece’s name or your active ability. He only asked you to show it to him."

"Oh..."

Phillip’s shoulders slumped as he watched Vin begin to activate his second Piece.

The Improper Ruiner move his hand until he manifested a pentacle, a glowing pentagram enclosed within a circle, in front of himself. It acted as a defensive barrier wherever Vin conjured the ability.

"Mimicry..."

Cillian muttered inwardly before successfully copying it on his first try.

[Mimicry Success]

Information about this ability ran through his mind until a screen popped up in front of him, telling him about the ability’s Piece.

[Pentagram: Pentacle Ward]

Mimicry really had random moments where it succeeded, even though it said that the more complicated a Piece it tried to mimic was, the harder it was to copy. However, there were a few instances where it didn’t follow its own rules, especially in cases like this one, where Vin’s new ability should have been harder to mimic.

’Oh well.’

Cillian shrugged his shoulders. It’s not like he found success copying abilities most of the time, and when he did, it usually took longer.

Most of them were in battle.

That’s why Cillian thought it was pretty balanced to say so himself.

Cillian smirked.

’As long as it can be copied, no matter how many times I have to do it, I’ll copy it. Balance, my ass. I don’t care. I’ll use every cheat I have at my disposal whenever I like.’
