Death Flag System: I Became An Extra From The Author Who Killed Me!

Chapter 162: Shepherd of Creation’s Great Influence

"I’m going to meet Finn Montolov and hear out his proposition. Though I’m already aware that he wants us to work with him. Lloyd will definitely come as well. And he mentioned a lot of Sparrows, right? We’ll definitely come."

Their talk was coming to an end as Leo finally gave his answer regarding the conversation from earlier that morning, when Cillian had passed along Finn’s message about wanting to meet them that came from Willow.

Leo was keeping his options open instead of coming to a decision right away.

It was a solid choice, since he might have been planning to research more about the Montolov Family, who were trying to involve themselves in the Underworld after probably sensing the changes happening here.

Whatever choice Leo made, Cillian knew it wouldn’t affect much of what he and Scott had currently planned with Dena and Dennis. After all, the Whisper Broker was not involved in the matters that were about to erupt in the Underworld.

Though that’s only wishful thinking.

Even though Cillian would try his hardest to keep his gang from getting involved in the incoming brawl in the Underworld, that would only be possible as long as they remained in the above world.

That’s why Cillian asked Leo a question first.

"Is the Montolov Family a good family?"

"No family is great. Even Viola has its own cracks."

Leo paused as he massaged his chin.

"But if we’re talking about whether the Montolov Family is on the better side or the worse side, then they’re more on the better side. So you don’t need to worry about anything."

Cillian watched his father before moving his gaze upward, only to find no flags manifesting above his head.

Usually, whenever someone said something like, "you don’t need to worry about anything," it meant there was actually something to worry about, and a flag would appear right after.

’It looks like I can recommend it.’

When his question was answered and he saw that no flag had appeared, only then did Cillian feel confident enough to say what was on his mind.

"You can accept the deal with them as long as it’s not the same condition as Viola. Try to convince Uncle Lloyd about it."

Leo remained silent for a brief moment as he looked at his son’s convincing expression. He didn’t know what to do about it and could only let out a sigh as a faint smile formed on his lips. He was seriously considering Cillian’s suggestion.

Seeing Lloyd agree, Cillian then brought up another topic before their conversation could end.

"By the way, can you ask the people who watched me back then if they’re interested in guarding Melissa?"

Cillian knew that he had been watched back then when Leo asked him about Arthur, though after that day, they stopped appearing in his vision through the passive of his Possibility Flags.

"Oh, so you knew..."

Leo replied with disbelief, trying to hide the fact with the most ridiculous action possible before nodding.

"They are actually the ones guarding our family right now, but I guess I can talk to them about it. I’m sure they will like Melissa."

"That’s good."

The two stared at each other for a brief moment before Leo brought up the topic again, as if urging Cillian to tell him the truth.

"Melissa’s just a friend, right?"

Cillian had already answered him once, so he was slightly annoyed when he heard the question again. He simply turned around and waved his old man goodbye.

"Kids these days."

Leo shook his head with a soft chuckle before entering the room and continuing to do his own business.

...

Cillian also left the Undercity after seeing that Melissa was getting along well with the people from the Whisper Broker. She didn’t even need someone to babysit her since she could handle herself, which was fantastic for Cillian.

He could rest assured knowing that Melissa’s financial problems would be taken care of and that she would be able to return to the Academy in the future with potential guards guarding her back.

’Melissa’s a smart person. She should be fine on her own now. I’ll tell Willow that she’ll find something she likes to do and that she’s away from danger for now.’

The metal doors of the elevator opened as Cillian immediately stopped in his tracks.

’Wait, why would I need to tell her? Melissa will tell her herself. They’ll definitely talk about it once they hang out.’

After leaving the metal doors of a shop that hadn’t been affected by the attack, Cillian couldn’t help but glance to the side, where he saw Aster and Oliver sitting together and greedily eating the dishes served to them.

Beside them were several packed bags containing the things they had gathered during their time here, as they were preparing to return to their respective homes after weeks had passed.

Then, their eyes met.

"Yo."

Cillian waved his hand, which made Oliver and Aster wave their dirty hands before continuing to indulge in the wonderful food. Cillian couldn’t help but glance at it, somehow making him salivate at the delicious aroma before his stomach began to grumble.

’I didn’t know this shop. Who is cooking—’

Then, in the kitchen area, Cillian saw the main five members of Star Breaker moving around. Cale was the main cook, doing his very best with a serious expression while Eve assisted him.

The other three, Orion, Harry, and Quintin, were either handing out food from the tables around the bustling place, retrieving ingredients from the inventory, or taking orders from the customers.

It was somewhat organized.

’What is this? This self-proclaimed strongest guild in the territory has opened a shop? A part-time job amidst all of this?’

Cillian slowly sat down on an available chair at Aster’s table. He tried to sneakily pick up a piece of fish that was there for the taking, only for Aster to tap his hand away as if it were off-limits.

"Git yoier uwn fwod." (Get your own food)

Cillian blankly stared at that reaction.

’That tap alone is enough. You need to speak if you’re full.’

He tried aiming for a dish from Oliver, but Oliver had already protected it with his other arm while using his dominant hand to eat. The Strongest Ruiner stared at Cillian intently.

’These greedy bastards. I just want one bite to see if it’s good enough.’

Cillian blinked and mused inwardly as he gulped a mouthful of saliva down to his throat while staring at the two greedily eating their food.

Then, finally coming to a decision, Cillian raised his hand to place an order. Quintin, the tired mage, was the one who took his order. It was a simple dish of chicken, salad, and fish, similar to what he had tried to steal from the two plates earlier, only to be stopped.

"Your order’s coming right up."

Quintin left and gave him a thumbs-up, which Cillian couldn’t help but stare at weirdly. Then, he looked at the two people at the table before saying.

"You guys are leaving?"

Oliver, who brought the plate up and ate all the food on it in one go, smacked his lips before letting out a satisfied smile. He then said.

"That’s right."

Oliver wiped the sauce from the corners of his lips before continuing in a whisper.

"Cillian, I think the Shepherds of Creation have already influenced this world greatly. This kid and I will do a secret investigation while I train him."

’Shepherds of Creation... Right, Aster—the main character heard the conversation between the White Shepherd and the Hidden One at the open-view shrine back then. Obviously, this dude had already told Oliver about everything that happened before the fight.

Cillian pondered inwardly.

’Though Mouthful Eye had already told him about it back then in the Academy, it seems he kept it a secret until there was no longer any need to, since he could use the fact that he heard it from a White Shepherd. This guy really kept his promise.’

Cillian paused as another thought came to mind.

’Does he have any idea what the Lower Planes and Higher Planes implied?’

As questions arose in Cillian’s mind, Oliver watched his expression carefully and said.

"You seemed not surprised by discovering the real name of the Shepherds when they are not just Shepherds."

Cillian glanced at Aster before looking back at Oliver with a smirk.

"I have my own reasons."

Then, as he waited for his food to arrive, Cillian looked around the place and whispered.

"Can you tell me what you mean when you say the Shepherds have already influenced this world greatly?"
