After receiving instructions from Avery, Maria smiled warmly and said, "Joel, after lunch, would you like to check out the old house? It’s furnished and very clean. Dad goes there to stay for a few days from time to time." Upon hearing this, Joel and Isla knew they needed to act quickly, since it involved the house, demolition, and potential financial gains.
They nodded eagerly. "Sure. We’ll go over after we finish eating."
In high spirits, they found the food more delicious and ordered several expensive seafood dishes, planning to pack up anything they couldn’t finish.
Meanwhile, Ronan and his group were causing a scene outside Carter’s Restaurant, attracting quite a crowd of onlookers.
A waitress regretted not taking a break at the nearby dormitory instead of staying at the restaurant to scroll through her phone.

She and her husband live lavishly in a mansion worth about 100 million dollars, yet they leave us to live in the mountains, ignoring us for over a decade.
"We traveled all day to Rosemont City, called her and her family dozens of times, and couldn’t reach anyone. How could they treat their family like this?"
Violet sat on the ground, crying. "We’re over seventy, have worked a lifetime in the fields, and are riddled with ailments. We’re terrified of dying without ever seeing Claire again. We came all this way to see her, but her whole family is avoiding us."
Quentin showed a tattered household registration booklet to the onlookers. "See? We’re really Claire’s family. I gave up my education to work hard to support her studies, and now that she’s succeeded, she doesn’t care about us."
Gavin displayed his phone call log. "Look, these are all Claire’s family members’ numbers. Not one of them is reachable. This is Claire’s number, this one is Wesley’s, and this one is Jaden’s. We also called Zayn."
