Avery was speechless. Alaric was young and always adorable. There was really nothing she could do about him. She patted Alaric’s head gently, as if she was coaxing a golden retriever. "Yeah, it’s been tough on you."
"No, it’s not hard," Alaric continued to cry. "As long as I can continue to play sports and participate in competitions, I’m willing to suffer no matter how tough it is. I-I simply didn’t expect I would be able to turn things around. It feels like I’ve obtained a new lease on life."
Alaric’s buddies, who had come to celebrate his birthday, were speechless at this sight. Alaric was already an adult, yet he was still crying in his sister’s arms. It was embarrassing. However, they also envied him for having such a close relationship with an outstanding sister.
Fortunately, Alaric only cried for several minutes before he stopped. He let go of Avery and wiped his tears with his sleeve. He acted as if nothing had happened and turned to his buddies. "It’s my birthday today. Mom has prepared a lot of delicious food. You guys should come too."
Alaric’s buddies cheered, "Hooray for Alaric’s mom!" Then, everyone split into two groups. One group sat in Avery’s car, while the others took a taxi. They headed to Carter’s Restaurant in a grandiose manner.
Carter’s Restaurant was also full today. However, there was a sign hanging at the entrance of the restaurant that read, "It’s the boss’s son’s birthday tonight. The restaurant will be closed from 7 p.m."
Apart from their grandparents, who were still in the hospital, everyone who could make it came. Even Jaden came from the countryside to prepare a few of his best dishes. Everyone squeezed around the table in the largest private room, enjoying the delicacies while wishing Alaric a happy birthday.
Only then did Alaric proudly announce to everyone that he had signed with the tennis club and would soon become a professional tennis player. Everyone present knew tennis was Alaric’s favorite sport. They stood up and cheered for him, giving him hugs and kisses while sincerely congratulating him on getting what he wanted.
Claire said, "It’s a double blessing. I’ll make an exception this time and allow you to drink alcohol. You can drink whatever you want, as long as you don’t overdo it."
