Chapter 54
"The contract for selling the house to our company is ready. There won’t be any surprises," said the representative from Bard Property. "I’ll contact the owner of that villa right away and prepare the relevant documents.
"If things go smoothly, you could come over this afternoon to sign the contract. I suggest you prepare the down payment now so we can handle all the paperwork in one go."
Wesley instinctively glanced at Avery.
Avery gave a reassuring nod. "I can have the 1 million dollars ready by today."
Wesley replied on the phone, "Alright, we’ll start preparing—"
The voice on the other end paused for a split moment before saying, "Mr. Carter, our company is currently seeking high-level executives. I understand you have a background in civil engineering and have held leadership positions in both government agencies and global enterprises. With your excellent reputation, we believe you could be the talent our company is looking for."
"If you’re willing, you could join us as a General Manager, with a one-year probation period and an annual salary of 120 thousand dollars. If you perform well, we can consider an early confirmation with an annual salary of 200 thousand dollars. Would you be interested in giving it a try?"
The Carter family exchanged looks, feeling a sense of disbelief. An annual salary of 120 thousand dollars was nearly equivalent to the family’s total earnings from their restaurant for a year. Moreover, the restaurant was a family effort, whereas this job would be a single person’s income.
It felt like their luck was turning around. Wesley was tempted. His eyes lit up with excitement, and he straightened his posture. However, after a moment of quick thinking, he shook his head. "I haven’t worked in a company for over ten years. I’m afraid I might not be up to it..."
