Idol Gunner [Yuri Villainess LitRPG]

Album 1, Track 47: Silent and Sleepless

As they got closer to Katsuhara Apartments, a peculiar scene presented itself. One that, though weird, made Kana happy.

Standing right in front of the building with a single guard were two people. The first was Aiko Taira, who was scrolling on her phone without any awareness. The second was Emi Kitamura. Sakai must have been happy with the response if he had finally let her out. To prove that further, Emi started waving with a wide smile the moment she saw their car.

Kana put her hand on the handle, waiting to open it the moment Yamazaki brought them to a stop. The tires screeched, and she pulled. The door swung open, and she put a leg out. Then, interrupting all of her enthusiasm, Aiko Taira sighed and pushed her inside. Leaving Emi outside, the Coalition representative squeezed into the car’s back seat, closing the door behind her.

“What the hell?!”

Instead of replying, Aiko adjusted her elbow so that they did not dig into Kana’s stomach. She pulled her phone out, pushing it in the idol’s hands with a roll of her eyes. In the front, Yamazaki looked back with suspicion and confusion.

Kana looked at the phone’s screen. It was the notes app. But instead of using her keyboard, Taira had used the drawing feature to write down a message with her stylus. Taking it out of her bag, she started twirling it in her hands, still silent. Jina opened her mouth, but Kana shut her up with her hand. Clearly, this was a little sensitive.

Bugs everywhere. Don’t speak.

Taking the phone back, Taira started writing again. Frustrated, Kana took her own phone out, opened the notes app, and started furiously typing out a reply.

And nobody will question why you’re sitting in our car without a word? Also, just use the keyboard. I don’t care how good your handwriting is.

Taira read it and scoffed, showing her own screen once more.

Keylogger. Company phone.

Kana typed again. This was how they were going to speak now, then.

Fine. Why are you here? What happened? This is my own phone, so it should be fine.

Taira sarcastically smiled – Big plan. Dangerous.

Whose plan? Tanaka? Why should I trust what you are saying? Maybe you are a part of the plan.

Your choice. Yes or No?

Do you think I’m going to fall for something that obvious? What proof do I have that you aren’t trying to guilt trip me right now? You’re just counting on FOMO.

I got Emi out. Negotiated. Permanently.

Kana looked out of the car. Emi was still waiting, patiently. She yawned, waving once more and pointing at her wrist. She was asking how long it would take. Kana didn’t have an answer, so she just settled for a shrug.

What do you mean? Permanently?

Emi – job at Sakai. She’s free. Live with you.

Can you just take your time and write full sentences? It’s getting annoying. Also, sure. If you say so, I’ll trust you. But I’ll vet it from her later.

No time. Do what you want.

Whatever. Just get to it, then. I need to go and talk to her. What plan are you talking about?

Behind Kana, Jina twisted her body, leaning against the window now. The brief moment of consciousness she had had when they came to a stop was now gone. Aiko Taira had successfully bored her back to sleep.

Big collab. Particulars unknown. Still planning stage.

Collab? Between who? Lilac Shower and someone else, or the Coalition and someone else?

Inside Coalition. Create distrust. Increase friction.

Like, you want me to create distrust and increase friction during this collab event? What do you mean? I can do that, sure. When and how, though?

No. Tanaka’s plan – creating distrust in Coalition.

Ah. So, he is planning some kind of collaboration between all of the agencies to increase distrust between them. Is that it?

Current guess. Not finalized.

I see. Thank you, then. I am only trusting you because Yamazaki-san once asked me to. Do not think that your little tricks worked. Will that be it?

Taira read that, and her eyes shot straight to the rearview mirror. Yamazaki, who was looking at them through there, did not move his eyes. For a moment, it was as if they had a whole conversation right there. Then, Taira put her eyes down, softened. Getting right back on her phone, she decided to put an end to their little dialogue.

Yes. Thank you. Take care.

Are you going to tell this to the others as well? Or just us? The other agencies, I mean.

Just you. Not enough trust.

Kana could not help but chuckle. As the first sound escaped her, though, she recoiled and shut herself up. If there was a recorder on the woman, then they could write it off as a glitch. She just hadn’t been able to control herself after reading that. Out of every person she could have asked, the only one who had trusted her was Kana. What had this world come to?

Taira, slightly angry at the laugh, deleted the note from her app. Then, she went and permanently removed it from the recycle bin. Only once she was sure that nothing could be recovered, did she give them a short nod and bow. Opening the door, Taira stepped outside.

Emi said something to her, and Taira smiled. Giving the girl a head pat, she looked at the guard. Both of them, without another word, retired from the area.

“Alright. Yamazaki-san, can you he-”

“On it.”

Kana smiled and rushed out the door. As her manager got out of the driver's seat to wake Jina up, she stopped paying attention to them. Running straight into Emi’s arms, she wrapped herself around the girl. Feeling her cheeks against her own, Kana felt like she could finally breathe. The week had been difficult enough as it was, and Sakai had ruined her mood a few dozen minutes ago. But this felt like it fixed it all.

“Ah, I missed you!”

“Me too.” Emi sighed, pulling back and holding Kana’s face between her hands, “Can we go up now, though? I’m so tired of standing here.”

“Oh yeah, sure. How long have you been waiting? Sorry, it took us a while!”

_____________

“Emi-chan?” Jina rubbed her eyes as she got into the apartment, “When did you get here? Huh?”

“We got into the elevator at the same time, though?” Emi questioned, “You even bumped into me as you did. Forgot already?”

“Huh?” She tilted her head, hand on chin, “Maybe? I don’t know. Wasn’t that Kelsey-chan? Was it really you? Huh?”

“I-is the joke that we both have the same hair color?”

Emi leaned in closer to Kana, asking the question with a genuine sense of wonder and confusion. And to be fair, it was a valid one. Given Jina’s personality when it came to Emi, there was no telling. There was an equal chance of her just being sleepy or her trying to be funny. At least they had the common denominator of being annoying.

“Well,” Jina yawned, “We’ll be busy tomorrow, Emi-chan. Good night! I don’t know what you will do here for just about 5 hours or so…”

“Oh no, Jina-chan!” Emi smiled, “I’m actually moving in with both of you. Taira-san talked to Sakai-san about it, and he agreed. He was impressed with the choreography, so he said it is fine if I live here with Kana-chan. I hope you don’t mind.”

“Huh!?” That snapped the girl out of her sleep, “You’re gonna be living here? Like, permanently? Forever? In Kana’s room? Is that right!?”

Emi looked down at the floor with a shy smile and red face, “Y-yes. I am sorry for the inconvenience. As I said, I hope you don’t mind. I-if you have any issues, though, I will start looking for other possible options.”

“N-no!” Jina shook her head, but also started taking backward steps with an outstretched hand, “Just don’t get me involved in all this, alright? L-living here together, in the same room. Who knows what sort of indecent things you’ll get up to!? Don’t get me involved, alright? Leave me alone!”

Then, she gasped, covering her mouth with her hands.

“What?” Kana asked, already tired of this routine.

“T-that’s why you waited for us at night, isn’t it!? You could have settled here nicely tomorrow morning, but you came at night. Of course you did. I see how it is. I…I am going to my room. Keep it down, you two!”

With that, she rushed up the stairs and disappeared into the darkness of the upstairs corridor. A second later, her door opened and was loudly shut with a bang. It left Kana questioning if both she and Emi should search for those other options together. But then she remembered that this was her house first, so Jina should be the one leaving, not her.

“She’s…”

“Fun as ever.” Kana groaned and started walking up the stairs as well.

Emi followed her, leaving her suitcases and bags in the living room. The two of them quietly reached the upper floor and got into Kana’s room. Once the door was locked, Kana finally found some time to take a breath.

Crashing on her bed, her back got some relief after all that dancing. Her eyelids, too, started drooping the very moment she felt the soft mattress. Emi, standing closer to the door, looked at her with a smile.

“Emi…”

“Yeah?”

“Help me get the zip off?”

“Uh, yeah, sure. Is it tight?”

Kana turned, yawning as she buried her face into the blanket. It was so nice to be back home. Most of their schedule was clear, other than a meeting or two, which meant she would be able to take full advantage of the time. By sleeping, that was. She had all the extra time to finally get her body some sleep.

“Very tight.” She replied.

Jina got close and started unzipping the dress. As she did, it became even easier to breathe. Kana could almost feel herself melting into the bed. In a few seconds, without any doubt, she was going to be part of this fabric. Someone walking into the bed would not be able to distinguish the two.

All of her senses dimmed down, and she closed her eyes. Her hair pricked her eyelids, but she didn’t care. In the cool temperature of her room, even that was like a mini-blanket. She yawned, pulling herself up to the pillow and laying her head on it.

Then, out of nowhere, something cold touched her back. She yelped, jumping up to look back. Behind her, Emi fell down in shock, also shrieking with her. The feeling had just been her finger.

“Sorry! Sorry! I didn’t mean it. I just got startled.”

Emi sighed and then burst out into laughter, “No, I get it. Sorry, too. I should’ve thought twice before doing that.”

“Why? You don’t need to think before doing that. Come here.”

Kana put her hands up, reaching out for her girlfriend. Her eyes, wide open now, couldn’t wait to see more of Emi up close. It had been so long since they got to be like this, too.

As Emi stood up and came closer, she raised her eyebrows, “I thought you were asleep. What happened?”

“Oh, just…” Kana shrugged, “I woke up.”

“Hmm. Are you sure, though? Surely you wouldn’t do anything, uh, indecent. You’re gonna risk pissing off Jina-san?”

Emi got closer, intertwining her fingers with Kana’s. Squeezing each other’s hands, they spent some time exchanging glances.

“Oh, definitely. I literally do that for a living.”

Kana pulled Emi closer in, hands wrapped around her waist, and pushed her onto the bed. She would have to forget about sleep for a while.
