Avoiding Death in an Otome Game

*Why the hell is here so many small monster keep appearing!*

I thought as I took down an armored spider, third one since we entered the forest and it wasn’t the only monster that attacked us nor I am the only one fighting them as other five have also took down some monsters.

Poison slimes, flame boar, stinger bee and shadow spiders, all these low level monsters suddenly crawled out from somewhere.

"D*mn these monsters are troublesome to deal with. Do you think the teachers are intentionally making it hard for us?" Ray said with a click of his tongue as he take down a poison slime.

"I don’t think so. This test is conducted every year for the first year students and I have heard from some seniors that it wasn’t that difficult." Ian said as he keep the stinger bee at bay by utilising his sound magic.

"Don’t tell me that it’s their mating season and we disturbed them?" Kevin said jokingly.

"Guys be serious. Look how seriously Kai is fighting." I heard Lucian’s voice from behind me who is fighting the shadow spider as I take down the stinger bee that Ian was keeping at bay.

"I would rather not compare to him, he is abnormal. The monsters he faught didn’t even last more than a single attack!" Kevin retort with a weird point.

*I can’t waste time here. Even with all these monsters attacking us, we haven’t encountered a single Blackskin Earthworm, the monster that appeared in the game.*

"He is strong." Tudor said in his monotonous tone as he take down the flame boar with a lightning attack. Yes he has a higher attribute ’Lightning’.

"Phew. Finally all down." Ray said with a tired sigh. "If this continue, forget about catching up with the girl’s team, I think that the whole test will be canceled."

He is actually right as not every team is as strong as ours and if they get severally injured then the teachers will be hold accountable. Especially considering that most of these students are from noble families.

"...Huh!?" Just as we were taking a breather, Ian suddenly jolted up and looked in a certain direction.

"What happened Ian?" I asked nervously. It seems like his hearing has caught a sound of something.

"I heard a scream.... there’s another one!" He suddenly looked at the other side, "Wait! There’s also a weird noise coming from below the ground and it’s coming close!"

He pointed at one direction. I immediately activated my ’Horizon Eye’ but the only thing I saw are small monsters running around.

But soon I detected the faint trembling of the ground behind them, they are running from something. Something that’s moving underground, ’Blackskin Earthworms’.

"Everyone get ready! It’s coming near." I said when I sensed the faint trembling becoming more apparent and the monster approaching near.

Without taking any time I quickly summoned a storm spear and target it at the spot with the most intense movement, and the next moment....

"Whoa! It’s huge!" Kevin shouted in shocked at a 6 feet tall blackskin earthworm popping out of the ground, of course we can’t see how long it’s underground which makes it even more shocking.

As its name suggests, it’s completely black from every angle but what you wouldn’t expect from an earthworm, it got razor sharp teeth in its mouth which makes it even scarier.

"Gulp..I think we know why you heard those screams" Ray said as he readied himself for the battle, with his magic stave in hand shining brightly and a small miniature sun appearing above it.

"Ian, keep dictacting the voices. We will take care of this thing." I told him as I stepped forward with my magic stave.

"Guys, I think we have more guests." Kevin said as he pointed at a group of shadow spiders coming from the other side.

"Let’s change the positions. Ray you help me keeping the spiders away, while Tudor and Kevin will help Kai to defeat the earthworm." Lucian said as he lifted his golden magic stave which shines with a brilliant light and flame.

*Spoke like a true main character.*

He is the main capture target not for no reason. His talent with magic is evident as he can use both light and fire attributes plus his willingness to help and sacrifice adds another charm for the female players.

But unfortunately I don’t have the time to appreciate it "No need, you all focus on the spiders. I will take care of this thing." I told them as I tapped on my storage tool and takes out a weapon.

’Will Arrow’ the one I brought before the school started, in the past few months, I have been practicing how to use it and now is the time to implement the effect of the practice.

With a wave of my hand the Will Arrow fly up heading for the earthworm’s weak point, the opening of its mouth. Although it got razor sharp teeth inside but the opening remains fragile like lips.

Sensing the incoming threat, the earthworm twisted its body and tried to attack me. But I was ready with my ’storm shield’ and just as the earthworm slowed down after colliding with the rapidly spinning shield, the arrow had already returned to pin it down from the above.

At the same time I cast another spell which caused water in the atmosphere to gather around me, then it took the form of a serpent which lunges at the earthworm and coiled around it to form a restraint, ’Sea Serpent’s Coil’.

The earthworm tries to move desperately in pain as the arrow peirces through its outer skin, though it’s not enough to actually defeat this thing.

Raising my magic stave I cast a magic which immediately caused current of water and wind to gather at the tip of my magic stave swirling rapidly to form a compressed ball which I launched in the opened mouth of the earthworm.

Sensing the company compressed ball of water and wind, the earthworm tried to swallow it whole as it closed its mouth ones the ball was in. Unfortunately for it, that was what I wanted.

"Bang!"

The next moment sound of a blast is heard as the mouth of the earthworm broke open with black blood gushing out of it, At the same time the arrow also managed to pierced through its skin and came out of its open mouth.

Honestly it is gruesome to watch and even the arrow was too dirty to touch now. Luckily I have a water magic so I can clean it quickly.

"Kai! I heard the voice, I couldn’t recognize it because of the distance but seemed familiar and..." Ian spoke until here and pauses like trying to figure out the noise

"I think I can hear another noise from the same direction, noise similar to this earthworm’s, but it’s scattered."

Ian didn’t say more but the meaning of his silent and his tense expressions is evident. There are several of these earthworms.

*Damn it! I need to hurry up*

"I am going ahead!" I said as I raced towards the direction that Ian mentioned, leaving the boys behind. The remaining monsters aren’t a threat to them.

One...two....three....four. Without wasting any time, I used ’Sky Steps’ upto four steps to instantly boost my speed.

In another part of the forest, instructor Ben Carter was watching over the test along with other teachers.

"What?" He suddenly jolted up as he sensed the weird changes in the forest, or more specifically in the movements of the monsters inside the forest.

He pulled out some kind of magic tool from his chest pocket and speak in it "All the teachers attention! There’s abnormal monster activities in the forest. Stop the test immediately and protect the students!"

Apparently it was somekind of magical communication device.

Without wasting time, Ben also headed towards a direction where he dictated a group of students being attacked by the monsters.

The same thing was happening across the forest and all the teachers are busy protecting the weaker students who are in immediate danger.

....

At the same time, deeper in the forest. One team which went ahead of all other teams by clearing all the small obstacles found themselves surrounded by a bigger problem.

"Okay I am sorry, I should have listened to you" Luna said to Hina with a tense expression as she gulped down at the sight of giant black skin earthworms surrounding them, four in total.

Elena frown at the sight. They has already encountered and defeated one blackskin earthworm when suddenly four more appeared.

Of course she is confident to fight a one on one and escape unscathed but the problem is that other girls aren’t that great of a fighter.

Luna and Lily both are auxiliary mage, while Hina is balanced type between support and combat. Though other too girls Candice and Grusha are combat mage but not that strong to handle this kind of monster themselves.

*How did the situation became more dire than the game!*

Hina exclaimed in her mind, seeing everything going out of the scale of the game’s level.
