Chapter 299: That quickly? Are you sure?
It was only about 20 minutes after Andrew had had his polite, but firm, ’get your shit together’ conversation that Maxwell strolled into his office, a bright smile on his face.
He didn’t greet Andrew, and instead placed a hand on his desk, all smiles as he leaned forward, invading Andrew’s personal space. Andrew had no worry about Maxwell seeing his computer. The man owned the company, owned the computer he was working on. Why would he care about that? Instead, he should be worried about what had put that kind of smile on his face.
"So." Maxwell started, a secret hidden in his smile. "I hear you have been harassing my omega managers? Is this true?" Harassing? Andrew had done his best to make it not seem like that.
Andrew sat back in his chair, meeting Maxwell’s smiling gaze and knew that Maxwell of all people trusted that he wasn’t harassing anyone. He clearly just found this whole situation amusing. Andrew crossed his arms, watching Maxwell as he watched him before he sighed.
"I apologise if that’s how it came across. That wasn’t my intention. I just know that our team needs more support, the other two have their hands full, and didn’t have time to step up and address the situation." Andrew said as politely as he could. Maxwell’s grin widened.
"You did the right thing. Honestly. I’m not here to criticize you. I’m more proud that you were able to be honest with them and take initiative. I heard their side of the conversation. One of the managers took it badly, while more than one of them reached out to me personally to let me know that they didn’t know it was getting that bad and that they were apologetic that they had let it slip through the cracks. With that said, I’m not afraid that you were rude. You’re too nice for that. If you were rude, they probably earned it." Maxwell said with that smile still on his lips. "Still though, it’s hot to see that you can hold your own ground. If I wasn’t the CEO I’d give you a quick little blowy right now." Andrew felt his face warm.
"Are you serious? That is not-I know that there are cameras here, Max!" Andrew protested and Maxwell laughed.
"I’m just kidding, of course. That’s for closets, our home, cars, and bathrooms where I don’t pay the cleaners." Maxwell teased, his blue eyes sparkling. "Are you done for the day? Or do you need to do some more work? If that’s the case, I can go back upstairs." Maxwell said, leaning more against the desk.
Andrew slid his gaze to the computer before him. He could get more work done. But....going home with Maxwell was too tempting. Andrew pushed himself towards the computer, making sure to save the data he had been working on before he began to log out, closing down programs he had to have open in the background. Maxwell watched him doing so, his gaze intrigued as Andrew navigated everything and then logged out of the computer in earnest.
