Chapter 293: A well earned good feeling
Andrew made his escape before any more questions could be asked. He could feel them brewing up from everyone who saw him. Mr. Kensington was clearly regretting not getting Andrew’s phone number now, and Andrew was a little bit grateful he didn’t have a business card now.
He just knew his line would be blowing up with calls and texts about who the fuck he actually was. Andrew hustled, trying to get out of the building as soon as he could, and once in the car, he took a minute to breathe.
He hadn’t expected any of what happened there. Not how quickly he was ’believed’ nor running into Mr. Dalton, whose name he couldn’t remember until Mr. Kensington had said it. Thank goodness for that. He quickly sent Kim a message saying that he had run into Mr. Dalton at May’s workplace, and asked for a few more details about the man since he didn’t want to be caught off guard again next time.
He then sent a message to Maxwell, letting him know that the meeting was done. He thinks that it had a good outcome, but could he swing by his office to talk to him about some other things that came up as he was leaving?
Maxwell responded back with lightning speed letting him know that his meeting would likely have just wrapped up by the time he got back to the office, so he could just head up and wait for him there. Andrew was pleased to see his response, and then he shot off a message to Rose, letting her know that everything seemed okay for May’s leave of absence? He would know when Ford spoke to Mr. Kensington for sure.
Rose didn’t respond, clearly still in her meeting and Andrew sighed before he finally turned on the car, pulled on his seatbelt, and headed back to his workplace, his chest feeling a little lighter.

When he got back to the office, everything was fine. Nothing had caught fire, Andrew hadn’t had a breakdown, he felt...good. Andrew had completed his first official solo mission since he’d manifested and he felt like he could walk on air. Everything was a bit different, but in a good way.
Andrew sent a text to Maxwell, letting him know he was back at the office and heading up to his, and he also sent a text to Dr. Cox, letting her know that he was back but had to speak to Maxwell first.
She sent back a little winky face, and Andrew had a feeling that it wasn’t Dr. Cox at all who responded. He took it in good faith to mean that he was okay and they didn’t need him right away.
Andrew took the elevator up, his hands in the pockets of his pants as he waited. When he stepped out on Maxwell’s floor and rounded the corner, the secretaries ’ooed’ and ’ahhed’ at Andrew’s appearance, complimenting him on his suit. Andrew easily told them that Maxwell had helped him pick it out and they easily said that they knew that. Complimenting Maxwell’s taste in clothing.
