Chapter 146: I’m a big, scary man with no children

"They aren’t? So, you’re telling me you don’t have a secret child out there, Andrew?" Amir’s eyes widened at Maxwell’s tone and Andrew turned, nodding. He wasn’t going to lie to Maxwell about this. It would only make him look like more scum than he was for his behaviour back then.

"Of course. I made my stance very clear." Andrew said. "I went with them to get the pill to terminate the pregnancy." He stated and there were several gasps in the room. Maxwell’s expression went lax.

"What?" He said and Andrew nodded. Andrew could feel a shift in the room, and knew that the others were pulling away from him as well.

"I was in no state to be a Father, and honestly, neither was she. She heard that I got a full ride and was trying to use me for the money I didn’t have. It was before I let everyone know I was a beta, not an alpha. It was also not long after my Mom had died, so I was...not nice, to put it politely." Andrew smiled. "We’ve forgiven each other now, I think. She’s married to a wealthy businessman in Germany I think. Has kids too, so clearly it didn’t harm her." Maxwell was shocked.

"I just...wow. I guess I didn’t think you would ever, you know, not be responsible." Maxwell muttered and Andrew laughed.

"What are you saying? I was responsible. It was not right to try to bring a child into the world who was not born from love, especially from either side. It would have been a completely different story if she was trying to get pregnant and had asked permission, but she hadn’t. She was trying to use the child as a way to get into a rich family. That’s awful, and against everything I stand for." Will chuckled.

"Well, I’m glad we know Andrew isn’t going to baby trap Maxwell." it was too fresh of a dig, and Andrew watched as Maxwell went bright red.

Thankfully, not many noticed, and Andrew quickly drew attention back to him. Neither one of them was ready to talk about that part, and they shouldn’t have to.

"Anyway, that’s not why I have so much knowledge about taking care of others. Most of it stems from when my Mom was ill. She was ill for so long that I just guess...it’s a knee-jerk reaction? Add to that I apparently have a rather soothing personality, whenever someone was pregnant in university they would end up spending a lot of time with me. I have quite a few people who consider me the almost midwife of their children." Andrew stated proudly. Mrs. Beckett still seemed a little shocked to hear what she had.

"An almost midwife, huh? Should you become a doula instead, Andy?" Andrew blinked, surprised.

"No. I don’t think-"
