Chapter 78: Isn’t that...pda?

Andrew wrapped his arm around Maxwell’s shoulders, pulling him close as Maxwell watched the brothers move to the side and have a quiet but aggressive conversation.

"That was strange." Andrew muttered, and Maxwell nodded.

"I was under the impression the apology wasn’t sincere." Maxwell muttered. "But clearly that was not the case. He genuinely seemed apologetic." Maxwell agreed, and Kim was the one who spoke up and clarified.

"Maxwell, you know this, but Andy doesn’t. The Fulton’s are a long line of alphas and their Mother is the second wife of their Father. The first wife died in childbirth, and their eldest sibling is the black sheep of the family. A beta, which in a family like that, is a death sentence. I can only imagine what kind of vitriol might have come out of everyone’s lips at them." Kim shuddered. "It was good of him to apologise. On that topic, do you want us to stop doing business with them?" Andrew’s eyes widened at her question.

"What? No! I don’t care enough about them to do that." Andrew muttered and Maxwell’s shoulders shook as he laughed.

"Good answer." Maxwell said, his eyes sparkling as he looked up at Andrew. "The Fulton’s aren’t a bad group. Before everything went south, the eldest was getting close to securing a deal with my company. They are competent, when they aren’t being dumbasses." Andrew scoffed.

"I don’t think being involved with drugging someone is classified as being a dumbass, Maxwell." Maxwell raised an eyebrow at Andrew’s response.

"Oh? And who are you to say? You weren’t the one who was drugged, and you don’t know how I handled the issue of their drugging me company-wise." Andrew sealed his lips, but was clearly upset. Maxwell chuckled, reaching his hand up to cup Andrew’s cheek. "There is no need to make that face. I was just teasing. You have every right to say something, but I do think you should trust me in this regard. I doubt your ex would even apologise." He muttered angrily, and Andrew found he wasn’t able to relax.

"That is...different, Maxwell. You never dated the Fulton’s. As far as I am aware." Maxwell blinked, staring up at Andrew’s tense expression, and the way that Andrew’s mouth was turned down. Andrew knew he was being slightly unreasonable, but he did not like how Maxwell compared the Fulton brothers to someone he had dated for years. They were not equated in his mind.
