Chapter 60: Caught kissing without any mistletoe
Andrew was worried that they would have left the dining room in the time that the two of them had been chatting, but that wasn’t the case. The six remaining members of the family sat at a mostly cleared table, waiting for the two of them to return.
Andrew hesitated slightly, until Ben wrapped his arm around Andrew’s shoulder, tugging him into the room.
"We’ve talked out our differences, and everyone will be happy to know that Dr. Knox will consider Father’s help." Andrew tossed a confused, almost betrayed look in Ben’s direction, but the other man was grinning. Maxwell’s Father’s expression softened.
"Well thank goodness. I would have been quite upset if he kept rejecting it." Andrew blinked. They were behaving as if he had already accepted it!
Snorting, Andrew burst into laughter before wrapping his arm around Ben’s shoulder with a grin of his own.
"You are one conniving bastard. I’m sure he’s proud you are taking over for him, Mr. Shrewd Businessman." It was the best praise Andrew could give him, and he was glad to see that Maxwell’s brother understood that.
"Why thank you Dr. Knox."
"Hey, hands off." Maxwell’s tart voice was the warning Andrew got before his hands wrapped around Andrew’s arm and he was yanked away from Maxwell’s brother. Andrew fell into the smaller man, who was glaring at his older brother. Andrew was shocked.
"Maxwell, did you think your brother would seduce me?" He was shocked, and Maxwell continued to glare at his older sibling.
"Not in that way, but you are mine, body and soul. Even business-wise, you are mine. Back off, Ben. You aren’t getting him." Maxwell hissed, and Ben laughed.
"Ah, my brother is so stingy. You can share him, can’t you?" Maxwell’s glare clearly didn’t scare him, and Andrew stared in surprise at his behaviour. Ben clearly liked getting a rise out of his little brother from the way the corners of his mouth twisted up slightly.
