Chapter 93: Ben Vs Luna I
In this complex world of Aeoleon, there are several grades of weapons and treasures, denoted by their efficacy against foes of different kinds.
The more powerful the weapon or treasure, the more expensive and scarce they become.
An entire kingdom might not even possess some treasures that would be effective against those in the transcendent realms.
To get a sense for what power these treasures or weapons possess, one would have to be in a realm that has granted them pristine senses and densely refined natural power.
Meaning only knights from the realm of Noble upwards can tell this.
Previously, though Luna’s daggers looked unique to Ben, beautiful and just as lethal as their wielder, he still had not realised just how special these weapons were.
But now that he was in the noble knight realm, he could clearly tell that if he was struck by those weapons, even if he doesn’t sustained gravious injuries, it would still be able to penetrate his skin.
This was a noble-grade weapon, and weapons at this level are said to even possess some special additional functions.
Even in the entire human kingdom, such treasures are extremely hard to come by, but seeing who wielded them, it sort of made sense.
Ben doesn’t know much about how these weapons or treasures are made, at least not yet.
But he knew one thing, and that is, in order to bring such a weapon to its full potential, as well as utilize its special function, it needed to be wielded by someone at or above the noble realm.
Someone who can manifest natural power externally.
These weapons couldn’t kill Ben but could harm him well enough.
Ben had been using an entire fifty percent of his strength and speed against Luna; still, she was managing to get several hits past him, but he was handling her fine even though she was clearly employing several techniques to attack him.
He didn’t need to use any of his natural power, either to strengthen his body from the inside or to manifest power on the outside.
That might just cause him to do unintentional lethal damage to Luna.
Though he felt like taking out his anger on her for always putting him through hell, she hasn’t actually carried out her threats to come for his life when he was weaker than her, which would have been very easy.
At least, that was true before this night.
The moment Luna grabbed hold of those daggers, something had changed.
Aside from the fact that she’d pulled out her personal weapon, Ben also noticed something else....
’She’s stronger!’
Before that thought could settle, Luna’s twin blades were almost at his throat.
Not just her strength had shot up; even her speed had nearly doubled, causing Ben almost to fail to react in time as he quickly brought his arms up to block her blades.
Ben was forced to raise his strength by an extra twenty percent. Enough to still easily overpower Luna if he wanted, as he brought his arms up to meet her blades.
But alas, it was a feint.
Amidst her forward charge, Luna sharply dropped into a low slide underneath Ben, her twin blades aiming for his knee joints.
Ben had no fluid or acrobatic skill, or even the most basic of techniques whatsoever; all he was relying on was the strength and speed that came with being at the noble realm peak. He was like a speedy tank with clear, awkward movements and transitions.
At the last minute, Ben jumped backwards, as the blades missed his knee joints by a mere inch; however, he had failed to properly calibrate his own strength, so he went further backwards than he planned, slamming his back into his wall and causing a spiraling crack.
BAHM.
Ben was fine, though. It just made him realize he needed to invest some time in real training and get himself some skills and techniques.
While Luna was moving fluidly like water, targeting his vitals, and her technique seemed to have made her stronger and faster, Ben was only relying on his realm.
Looking at the situation and the look in Luna’s eyes, it almost seemed like she had floated back up, concentrating for her next bursts of technique.
Ben realized that if he had learned some technique or skill prior, he should have been able to safely incapacitate Luna. If he did it with just his rough strength, he might just endanger her life.
There were also the twin daggers in her grip; those things could cause Ben some serious injuries unless he were to go all out, reinforcing himself and using all his strength.
Though Luna appeared to be impossibly strong for someone at the master realm, a single serious hit from Ben might still cause her incredible damage.
"Why the hell are you doing all this, Luna ?"
Ben asked Luna, bringing up his arms in a prepared guard.
Luna was heavily perspiring; a trickle of sweat crested her brow.
Ben could tell she was channeling massive amounts of natural power inside her to reinforce herself and her techniques, but the gap between them was just too vast.
Still, rather than give up, hearing Ben’s words, for some reason a burst of energy spiralled from her, her strength rising, forehead popping a vein in clear infuriation at Ben as she bent low into an intimidating stance, like a predator ready to pounce.
Ben’s room was already a mess; if some other guest were staying on the left wing, which was the guest wing, they might have already run over to check what was going on with the repeated booms ringing out in the room and shaking the space.
Luckily, the estate currently had no guests, and Nymira, who also owned a room in this building, spent most of her time at the bungalow far on the northern fringes.
Still, Ben needed to bring this to an end before anyone else’s attention was drawn to them.
"Luna, please stop!....why go so far?!"
"What’s so bad about me wanting to be free and not be a slave anymore ?"
At Ben’s words, Luna smiled. Not a sweet smile, but one with deeper, complex emotions buried within as she said to Ben in nearly a murmur....
"Yes...its bad......"
"Very bad."
Then she vanished.
