Chapter 200: A New Vampire
The blood formation pulsed like a living heartbeat beneath Mickey. Thrum. Thrum. Thrum. The crimson runes spiraled around him, growing brighter with each pulse, filling the empty stone house with a suffocating, ancient energy.
Lucian raised his left hand. His fangs extended. He bit down on his own index finger. A single drop of blood welled up from the wound, shimmering with a deep, iridescent crimson that seemed to glow with a light of its own. The wound sealed instantly.
The drop of blood hung in the air for a moment, suspended by the formation’s mana. Then it moved slowly, drifting toward Mickey like a falling star.
It touched his forehead.
FLASH!
The entire house shook. Rumble. Cracks spiderwebbed across the stone walls. The formation blazed with blinding crimson light, and Mickey’s body arched backward violently.
"AHHHHHHH!"
Mickey screamed. The pain was as if every cell in his body was being torn apart and rebuilt simultaneously. His skin cracked open with glowing crimson lines that spread across his arms, chest, neck, and face like a fractal network of burning rivers.
Sizzle. Hiss.
Blood seeped from every pore on his body, his human blood, being expelled. It poured from his skin in thin streams, pooling beneath him, absorbed by the formation beneath.
"FIRMIRIN—!" Mickey’s voice broke. His back arched so severely that his spine audibly cracked. Pop. Crack. His hands clawed at the stone floor, fingernails scraping grooves into the rock. Screeeech.
Then — the leg.
From the amputation stump, flesh began to bubble and stretch. Squelch. Squelch. New tissue, bone, muscle, and skin grew outward in real-time. Muscles layered themselves over the skeleton, and finally, skin crawled over the raw tissue.
Mickey’s screams hitched in his throat. He gasped.
His skin completed its transformation. The rich, dark complexion faded into a smooth, pale marble. His veins became faintly visible beneath the surface, carrying not red blood but a darker, deeper crimson. His features sharpened, becoming more angular, more defined.
His aura exploded outward.
BOOOM!
A powerful pressure wave ripped through the house. Windows shattered. Crash. The wooden door blew off its hinges. Bang. Sand and dust blasted through the openings. The air itself grew heavy, charged with a dense, suffocating mana that made the desert outside shudder.
Mickey’s eyes snapped open.
They were crimson. Bright, vivid, burning crimson — identical to Lucian’s.
A notification flashed before Lucian’s eyes.
[Congratulations! You have successfully turned your second vampire.]
[Reward: 20,000 SC]
[Reward: Bloodline Resonance passive unlocked — Turned vampires under your bloodline receive 15% faster cultivation speed when within 500m of you.]
[Reward: Vampiric Link upgraded — You can now sense the approximate location and life status of all vampires you have personally turned, regardless of distance.]
Lucian dismissed the notifications with a thought, his attention fixed on Mickey.
Mickey was staring at his hands. He turned them over slowly, flexing his fingers. His pale skin caught the dim light filtering through the shattered windows. He looked down at his legs — both of them. Whole. Complete. He wiggled his toes, a soundless laugh escaping his lips.
He clenched his fist. Crack. The air around his knuckles popped. His mana core had shattered its previous ceiling and reformed — radiating with the power of the Early Grand Core Realm. His body felt insane. Every muscle, every tendon, every fiber of his being hummed with strength. He felt like he was ten times stronger than his former self. The pain — the agonizing, bone-deep pain from minutes ago — was already fading into a distant memory, replaced by a rush of vitality.
"Lucian..." Mickey’s voice was different now, with a subtle, predatory edge. "What did you do to me?"
Lucian crouched in front of him, his crimson eyes calm and steady. "I turned you into a vampire."
Mickey blinked. "A vampire?"
"An Ancient Vampire, to be precise," Lucian said. "When I turned you, my blood rewrote your body at a fundamental level. Enhanced everything — strength, speed, regeneration, senses."
Mickey’s mouth opened, then closed. He looked at his leg again.
"I can walk," Mickey whispered. Then louder. "I can walk!" He turned to Lucian, his crimson eyes wide with disbelief and gratitude. "Lucian, I... I don’t even know what to say."
Lucian stood, observing him with Primordial Sight.

Lucian sighed quietly. He had expected Mickey to awaken another ability when he turned him. When he turned Clara, she had awakened an entirely new ability alongside her existing ones. But he couldn’t figure out the pattern of awakening more abilities with his blood unless he turned more vampires. The sample size was too small. But he couldn’t be too greedy. After all, Mickey’s Perfect Copy ability was already overpowered. Giving him vampiric enhancement on top of that was more than enough.
Two days passed.
Mickey spent the time getting used to his new body. Each discovery left him more amazed than the last. He ran through the desert at speeds that would have been impossible before, punched through rock formations.
Lucian, meanwhile, had been on the phone. Beep. Beep. Beep.
"Yeah. I understand. Thanks for the intel."
Click. He ended the call with Solstice and sighed deeply, running his hand through his silver hair. Frustration coiled in his chest.
Right now, he was sure the Apep family was located somewhere in the Western Desert. Based on the information Solstice had reluctantly provided, there were three groups linked to the Apeps.
The first was the Tarek Family. A family with a military background and a large sphere of influence in Cairo. Their current head was General Kael Tarek — a Late Grand Core Realm cultivator with direct ties to the Egyptian military. They provided the Apeps with protection and logistical support.
The second was the Khalfani Cartel. They held a massive sphere of influence built on wealth, the black market, and their involvement in the drug trade. Their head was Ramses Khalfani, a Late Grand Core Realm cultivator. The Khalfanis were one of the wealthiest non-awakened-turned-awakened families in Africa. They had built their empire on mining mana crystals in the deep desert and running drug operations so vast that even segments of the government supported them. Lucian was sure they were also the ones who provided blood farms to the Apeps. Suppliers of human cattle for vampire feeding.
Then finally — the dirtiest of them all. The Nasrullah Family. Their sphere of influence was the World Government Bureaucracy and Intelligence. The head of the family was Minister Harun Nasrullah — unawakened, but wielding immense political power and protected by Peak Grand Core bodyguards. Solstice hadn’t given him much information about them, which told Lucian everything he needed to know about how deep their roots went.
Lucian realized, with a cold clarity, how the ruling powers of a world worked. The military protected the vampires. The cartel fed them. And the politicians buried the evidence.
Right now, the most viable and safest option was to extract information from the Khalfani Cartel. After all, as the suppliers of blood farms and resources to the Apeps, surely they knew the location of the Apep family’s base of operations.
Lucian stood up from the stone floor, brushing dust from his dark coat. He looked at Mickey.
"We’re leaving," Lucian said.
Mickey looked up. "To where?"
Lucian’s crimson eyes hardened, his expression turning cold.
"To kill some bastards who were responsible for the academy’s mess."
