Ryder said, "Lucifer asked me to come and pick up something from you.
"He said you know what he wants."
As soon as those words left Ryder's mouth, Rayleigh fell silent for a long time.
After a while, he picked up his glass and downed the rum in one go.
"Lucifer has come this far... does he still need that thing?"
"I don't know, and I don't want to know," Ryder replied calmly. "All I know is that if he wants it, I'm taking it back."
Rayleigh stared at the Red Earl for a moment before shaking his head. "To think that Ryder, who was once so proud and arrogant, would now bow his head and follow orders."
Ryder remained expressionless, unfazed by the sarcasm in Rayleigh's words. "Times change, and so do people."
"Yeah... people change," Rayleigh muttered. "Even the world changes—so why wouldn't people?"
