Chapter 2220 - 569: Paul’s Birth
Huang Kaiwen squeezed Ramos’s shoulder and said.
Ramos slumped weakly onto the bed, watching Huang Kaiwen pack his backpack.
He barely took anything, just put on a baseball cap, slung the bag over his shoulder, and turned to leave.
Ramos immediately slammed a fist into the bedside cabinet.
Kaka came out of the shower and asked, "What’s wrong, why haven’t you gone back to your room yet?"
...
Huang Kaiwen got lucky: when he reached Munich Airport he saw a flight leaving in two hours.
And he even managed to get a ticket.
He had checked some info online beforehand, but going through this for the first time, he still felt unsure.
A first delivery usually takes about 10–20 hours.
But Huang Kaiwen had also heard the legend of the "water-breaking Knight."
In this crazy world anything can happen, you can’t guarantee the kid won’t show up right on time.
Sitting there felt like years, but Huang Kaiwen finally saw the gate information appear on the screen.
He rushed along the way, feet flying.
Even after boarding, Huang Kaiwen was still anxious.
It’s the uncertainty that’s the most terrifying.
Even though he knew there shouldn’t be any problems and had made all the arrangements, at the critical moment, if you don’t see it with your own eyes, you still can’t quite relax.
He took a CD out of his bag and shoved the earphones into his ears.
But at a time like this, the music wasn’t any help at all.
Barbara had been with him all these years; right now it was impossible for Huang Kaiwen not to worry.
No wonder there are players who miss the World Cup over this kind of thing.
Luckily, the flight from Munich to Milan wasn’t going to change just because of his mood; it was still just over 30 minutes to Malpensa Airport.
Huang Kaiwen ran all the way out of security and dove straight into a taxi as soon as he saw one.
The person about to get in was knocked off balance and, just as he was about to curse, suddenly gasped, "Holy crap, Kevin!"
"Sorry, I’m in a rush."
Huang Kaiwen pulled out his wallet, grabbed a handful of Euro notes, and handed them to the driver, saying, "San Raffaele Hospital."
His words had barely left his mouth when the driver floored the gas; the car shot forward and Huang Kaiwen almost slammed into the front seat.
The driver said, "Take your money back, otherwise my family would throw me out of the house. Being able to help when you’re in a rush—this is literally the highlight of my life."
Rossoneri!
Huang Kaiwen reacted immediately.
No wonder the moment he heard he was in a hurry, he stamped the gas pedal to the floor.
He asked, "What’s your name?"
"Camilo, Camilo Guardi."
The driver said.
"A northern noble, a Venetian."
Huang Kaiwen joked.
It was like saying anyone with the surname Liu must be a descendant of Liu Xiu.
The driver clearly liked that; he didn’t really chat along the way, but he kept humming little tunes.
Seeing they were almost at the hospital, Huang Kaiwen pulled out a paper napkin and, with flamboyant strokes, wrote: "To the loyal Camilo Guardi: a lifelong season ticket. Kevin."
He handed the napkin to the driver, then opened the door and bolted out.
Running all the way upstairs, Huang Kaiwen quickly found the place.
The old butler and the bodyguards were way too conspicuous.
"Sir!"
Albert said in mild surprise, "Please take a moment to rest, madam is doing very well, it just still takes some waiting."
"Why did you only get back now!"
Lily looked up and immediately asked through her tears.
Huang Kaiwen sat down beside her, wrapped his arm around Lily, and kept patting her back.
Some things don’t need any explanation.
Lily was just scared.
She wasn’t blaming him.
It wasn’t long before steady breathing came from Huang Kaiwen’s arms.
Albert said softly, "Miss Collins is exhausted today. She handled everything very well and contacted the hospital at the first moment."
Huang Kaiwen nodded.
Albert added, "I’ll get you something to eat."
Huang Kaiwen forced his mouth open and said, "Forget it, I don’t really have an appetite."
Albert didn’t keep trying to persuade him.
But the old butler kept lifting his head to look at the light above the delivery room, which proved he wasn’t nearly as calm inside as he looked.
Huang Kaiwen held Lily, sitting there in a daze.
When he couldn’t hold out any longer, the old butler also sat down on the bench.
No one knew how much time had passed.
Someone pushed open the door.
Huang Kaiwen, already numb, didn’t react at first; then he looked up.
The doctor, face covered in sweat, broke into a smile and said, "Congratulations, Kevin, they’re both doing great. Your jersey has an heir now!"
