Rewritten Past

Chapter 62

Yue cracked an eye open as she heard Alex's maniacal laughter filter through the vents from the basement.

"Well," she murmured. "Someone's having fun."

Yue didn't know what Alex was doing. But she could tell that he was DEFINITELY ruining someone's day. Or maybe life-

"Let's see you try to claim THIS as novel material, Nintendo. Hahaha..."

Yeah, definitely life.

Yue shook her head as she heard Alex's faint words echo through the vents. But after that, she stretched and checked her watch.

5 PM.

The house was filled with the scent of baked goods and sweets, along with the sound of action movies drifting from the living room.

In Alex's room, just one over, Yue could hear April muttering to herself about 'the bestest drawing ever' and 'have to make it perfect'.

Serena's humming echoed from the kitchen, and then Yue could also hear Mei and Wang whispering sweet nothings from the living room.

All in all, a very cozy Christmas Evening...

"The only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed, you bastards. Let's see you try to patent this stuff now."

...Minus her son's maniacal ramblings drifting up from the vents.

Yue was mildly concerned. But since Alex was referencing patents...

'It's probably just his video game stuff.'

Yue DID say that she would let him handle his own business and just sign off on things for him.

...She still wasn't sure HOW he understood all of that.

But honestly, she'd long since passed the point of understanding how Alex knew everything.

If she had to guess, it was definitely the internet. Alex had an insane ability to ask the perfect questions and find the right information, after all.

Without any supervision and with unlimited access to all the world's information...

'Maybe it's good that he's still only five?'

Yue was starting to worry about what shenanigans he'd be involved in as he got older...

Thankfully, April was around to keep him grounded.

'Though saying Alex is grounded is pretty debatable...'

Yue yawned and sat up, rubbing her eyes. She was debating whether to go back to sleep, but she WAS pretty hungry...

Just as she was about to lay back down though, the door to her room opened and Serena peeked inside. "Are you still sleeping, Yue?"

Yue smiled and said, "No. I'm up, Rina." She adjusted her blouse and said, "Something wrong?"

"Not at all!" Serena walked inside, carrying a tray of various cookies. "I just wanted you to try these."

Yue tilted her head and said, "Cookies?"

"Mmhm!" Serena sat down beside Yue and said, "I don't know what your favorite is, so I made a lot. Would you try them and let me know which you like best?"

Yue grabbed a frosted christmas tree cookie and nibbled it. "I'm not picky, you know? Any cookie is a good cookie in my books. Unless I'm dieting. Then it's a bad cookie."

Like the sinfully delicious peanutbutter cookies Alex made using six sticks of butter.

Witchcraft. Absolute witchcraft...

Serena giggled and said, "I don't think you have to worry about dieting, Yue."

"You say that. But if I'm not careful, it all goes to my chest and thighs, you know?" Yue took a bigger bite of the cookie.

Sweet, minty, and with bits of chocolate?

Either way, it was good.

Yue's eyes crinkled up in joy as she finished her bite, setting the cookie back down on the plate. "That was pretty good- Hm?" She looked up and noticed that Serena was bright red. "You sick or something?"

"N-No! Not at all! I was just... Um..." Serena's blue eyes flitted down towards Yue's chest and thighs for a split second. "Th-thinking a bit?" Her voice hitched up near the end.

Yue blinked. Then she felt her face heat up as well, realizing what exactly Serena was 'thinking' about. "A-Anyway... Ahem." She cleared her throat and grabbed another cookie. A chocolate cookie with white chocolate flecks and caramel stripes.

Still a bit flustered, Yue took a bite to try and get her mind off the implications. And then she instinctively moaned as the taste of the cookie hit her.

Sweet, salty, savory sin. That was the only way to describe it. Something that made her have an instinctive and visceral reaction.

Which made immediately turn bright red when she realized what she just did.

"Th-that's... U-U-Um..." Yue averted her gaze. "I-It's a really good cookie!"

"R-Right!" Serena quickly nodded. "The cookie! It's great! Not... anything else!"

"Y-Yeah."

"..."

"..."

"...Want some more?"

Yue's eyes widened. "N-Now? I think I need some wine or something first, Rina... And we aren't at home, so-"

Serena turned a bright red and quickly fanned her face. "I-I meant cookies! B-B-But if you want... um... I... wouldn't mind...?"

Yue felt like screaming.

She'd messed up. Completely.

Yue had ABSOLUTELY misread everything because her mind was in the gutter after the implication of what Serena said.

...But Serena wasn't backing down from Yue's suggestion.

And they HAD already done... that. Once.

Granted, they were both drunk and barely remembered it, but since ALEX clearly saw at least a part of it, that definitely happened.

But...

Serena stared at Yue, biting her lower lip. Then she set the plate of cookies down and stood up. Walking over to the door, she quietly turned the lock on it and said, "...A-Alex was right, you know. I-If you want April to be your daughter, you could always... I-I mean. I know the Lord says to not, but... if it's you, I wouldn't mind...?" She averted her head, hiding beneath her blonde bangs. But her clear blue eyes shyly peeked up at Yue through them.

'Ah... It's over.'

Yue suddenly had a very clear understanding of why Alex found it impossible to say no to April.

That face, that warmth, that sincerity, and the genuine affection...

"Is it... no good?" Serena fiddled with the hem of her threadbare white blouse. "I-I know it's... not right. But-"

"Shut up and just kiss me already, dammit."

"E-Eh? Yu- Mmph?!"

...Alex was NEVER going to let Yue live this down. But whatever. It was too late now.

===

I paused in the middle of typing, hearing a strange sound echo through the vents.

At first, I thought it was April. It sounded like a whimper and a soft gasp. And for a moment, I thought she had hurt herself in whatever secret project she was working on.

But then I heard Mama Yue's voice, soft but stern.

"Don't make too much noise. The kids will hear you."

"I-It's hard not to when you're... hn~! Kissing me like... ahn~"

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and counted back from ten.

...It's fine.

I knew this was going to happen.

They'd already crossed the line once, after all. And both Mama Yue and Miss Serena had good chemistry.

Not to mention they were the living archetype of tough girlboss and the sweet soft girl. It was yuri heaven in real life.

Except, you know, I saw them both pretty much as motherfigures and it was EXTREMELY awkward TMI hearing all that.
