The Girls That Came With the Rain

Wait Room

Alice turned to Betty and sighed heavily.

-Can you believe this? Just inviting total strangers to use our shower, like it's no big deal? What happened to boundaries, huh?

Betty simply smiled serenely at her sister.

-Our shower? We're just staying for the week, remember? Betty asked.

Alice scoffed.

-Ugh, don't remind me. As if a week stuck here with this mess wasn't bad enough already, now we've got Zed turning our temporary home into some kind of depraved den of sin, she grumbled, gesturing vaguely towards the bathroom where the sounds of running water and low laughter emanated.

Betty giggled, placing a hand on Alice's shoulder.

-Oh Ali, don't be such a spoilsport! Look at it this way, when else would we have the chance to try something so... exotic? So outside our normal lives?.

Alice looked at Betty incredulously.

-Exotic? Really Betts? That's hardly the word I'd choose to describe this situation. More like 'chaotic', 'invasive', or 'potentially traumatic', she said, ticking off each point on her fingers with growing agitation.

Just then, Zed's phone vibrated on the nightstand.

-Should we see who it is? Betty asked excitedly.

Alice frowned.

-Uh, hell no. It's none of our business who's blowing up Zed's phone. Probably just one of his many conquests wanting to schedule a booty call, she scoffed.

-Oh what's the harm? Betty asked as she made a move for the phone. He's been so open with us. He won't mind.

Alice's eyes widened in shock as Betty casually picked up the device. She lunged forward trying to snatch it back.

-Hey, what are you doing?! I said that's none of our business!

But Betty easily kept the phone out of reach, glancing at the screen curiously.

-Ooh, it's from Ednin!

It read: "hey lover do u want to invite the new girls to dance class? could b fun".

Alice's eyes narrowed as she read the message over Betty's shoulder.

-'New girls'? Is that all this was, some kind of sick audition?

She whirled around, storming towards the bathroom, intent on confronting Zed.

-But dance class sounds so fun! Betty complained as she grabbed Alice. I'm sure Ednin doesn't mean anything by it. She likes us!

Alice shook off Betty's grasp angrily.

-How can you be so naive, Betts? This whole thing is beyond suspicious. They show up here out of nowhere, pull us into God knows what kinky schemes, and now they're trying to rope us into their extracurricular activities too? No way, I'm not falling for it!

-I mean, I guess we don't have to go, Betty said disappointingly. I won't go if you don't want to, she added as she clasped her sister's hands.

Alice hesitated. Finally, she sighed heavily, squeezing Betty's hands.

-Fine. We'll go. But I swear, if this turns out to be some kinda bait-and-switch bullshit... she trailed off, leaving the threat hanging ominously. Let's just tell Zed we'll think about it for now. Give ourselves time to scope out the situation properly first. Agreed?

Betty nodded eagerly, relieved.

-Yes, yes of course! That's a wonderful plan, Ali.

Hearing the shower turn off, Betty quickly set Zed's phone back exactly as they found it.
