DMS Chapter 175
DMS Chapter 175
Flinx found the food served by old Hank’s family simple but incredibly delicious. Based on the taste, the farmers had only used salt and pepper and nothing else, but despite that, the dishes tasted rich and satisfying.
After dinner, the whole family gathered in the living room in front of the fireplace to bond before resting for the night. The children were lively, and the adults happily chatted with one another.
Flinx was given a place of honor, and since he had been friendly toward the children ever since arriving at the farmhouse, they did not hesitate to gather around him and ask him questions.
Most of their questions were innocent, such as how he had become a healer and how he learned his healing spells.
After a while, old Hank appeared from somewhere. Flinx had not even noticed when the old man left.
“All of our animals are now gathered in the barn. You can go ahead and check them,” the old farmer told Flinx.
“Father! You should let Healer Flinx rest first,” Robert’s father exclaimed.
Even Hank’s wife looked slightly outraged that old Hank wanted Flinx to work immediately. However, old Hank simply became stubborn and glared at his son.
“No worries. I can start healing the animals since that was what I promised Hank in exchange for food and a place to rest for the night,” Flinx said.
Old Hank left the room with Flinx following behind him. When they arrived at the barn, Flinx saw that there were many animals inside.
Since the animals were not injured, Flinx only needed to ensure they were cured of any diseases they might have. Thankfully, the Cleric’s second-level spell, Lesser Restoration, could cure diseases, and since it was only a second-level spell, its cooldown was short.
It was a pity that Flinx had not yet reached level nine in his Cleric class. Reaching that level would allow him to cast Mass Heal, which would make healing the animals much faster.
Fortunately, Flinx did not need to wait for the spell’s cooldown because he could utilize the many spell slots he had from both his Wizard and Cleric classes.
Old Hank and Robert’s father followed them to the barn.
“Do you want us to leave while you cure the animals?” Hank asked.
“No. You can stay if you want. It will just take some time.”
After that, Flinx repeatedly cast Lesser Restoration by reaching out and touching the animals’ heads.
Old Hank and his son helped him by moving the healed animals away and bringing the others toward him. After a few minutes, all of the animals had been healed.
They noticed that every animal looked livelier. They seemed full of energy. Their coats became smoother and healthier, and their eyes shone brightly.
Flinx even healed all of their chickens.
He wondered what effect his healing spells would have on the animals. Would they produce more and healthier products?
After finishing his work, Flinx was led by Robert’s father to the room assigned to him. He learned that it was the room where Robert’s father and his wife usually slept.
It was already late, and Flinx did feel tired. Still, he wanted to ensure there were no small creatures that could bite him while he slept, so he cleaned every corner of the room using his Prestidigitation spell.
He also thoroughly cleaned himself using the same spell to remove any lingering smell from the barn.
The next day, Flinx joined the family for breakfast, and the food was just as delicious as the dinner they had served the night before.
While they were eating, Flinx asked old Hank about the animals.
“They were all still lively. Daisy’s milk was unusually plentiful, and I could swear that the milk was more delicious and richer. Our chickens also produced many more eggs!” the old farmer answered.
Flinx had expected something like that to happen. Healthier animals would naturally produce better products.
Suddenly, they heard a shout coming from the bedroom where Flinx had slept.
Old Hank and his son immediately ran toward it.
When they came out of the room, Robert’s mother looked embarrassed, while Old Hank was glaring at her.
Seeing Flinx’s confused expression, Robert’s father explained that his wife had been surprised by how clean the room was.
“Oh, sorry about that. I purified the place using one of my spells before I went to sleep,” Flinx explained.
The farmers nodded in understanding. It was reasonable that a healer would want to purify the place where they rested.
After that, Flinx told them it was time for him to continue his journey.
When the farmers heard this, they all looked disappointed and asked if he could stay for a few more days.
Flinx declined and explained that he had been given a mission to continually travel across the lands.
It was all a lie, but Flinx truly did not want to remain in one place for too long.
It was still early when Flinx resumed walking along the road.
Old Hank told him that if he continued forward, he would eventually reach a town.
After a few minutes of walking, Flinx heard a noise behind him.
When he looked back, he saw Robert riding a donkey toward him.
“What’s the problem?” Flinx asked when the boy reached him.
“You forgot your magic staff!” Robert said before handing Flinx his staff.
Flinx realized that he had indeed forgotten the prop.
He noticed that Robert looked guilty, so he encouraged the boy to explain.
“I hid it! I wanted to keep it. When grandfather and father discovered that I hid it, they were so angry at me. They yelled at me for stealing from you even though you helped our family. I’m sorry,” Robert confessed.
The boy suddenly started sobbing.
“Don’t cry. I forgive you. Besides, this staff isn’t valuable,” Flinx said, trying to calm him down.
However, it took a while before the boy finally stopped crying.
“So, what punishment will you receive from your father?” Flinx asked jokingly once Robert had calmed down.
“I’ll probably receive a thrashing,” the boy admitted.
Flinx laughed, and after a moment, Robert joined him.
After that brief moment, Robert said goodbye and returned home while Flinx continued his journey.
The weather was still as pleasant as the previous day, and Flinx enjoyed every moment of it.
After walking for a couple of hours, he arrived at a fork in the road.
A sign indicated that the road ahead would eventually lead to the town of Elnore.
The road to the left only stated that it led to a small village.
Flinx decided to follow the road toward the village. He did not want to enter a town yet and still wanted to enjoy the quiet beauty of less populated places.
Flinx felt that his journey of appreciating nature was healing him in some way.
He even considered avoiding villages altogether and simply continuing to walk along the roads.
He planned to teleport back home to Ilioven once evening arrived, just to confirm that he could still return no matter where he was.
Occasionally, he checked the chat log and shared stories about his journey outside Ilioven. His friends replied and told him that they had done something similar when they first left Ilioven.
Paul even apologized because he needed to wait before he could travel, as they had asked him to reach the required level before returning to Earth.
Flinx told Paul it was fine since he enjoyed exploring dungeons and experiencing his rapid progress.
Most of his friends had already reunited with their families, but some were still traveling back to their home countries.
After that conversation, Flinx continued his leisurely journey.
When noon arrived, he stopped near a small group of trees, retrieved his camping table and chair, and ate lunch while enjoying the breeze.
He was not worried about unexpected dangers appearing since Pip was still scouting the area, and his wind elemental continued guarding him from above.
After lunch, he decided to rest a little longer and continue reading the book The Soprano Sorceress.
