DMS Chapter 173

DMS Chapter 173

Flinx didn’t know that Omur and the young adventurers he was managing were still a little shell-shocked.

Aside from the terrifying experience they had encountered, which made them believe they would meet their demise during their first mission, they had also been rescued by a powerful elemental summoned by a wizard. Then, that same wizard had summoned a castle for them to rest in during the night.

Some of them felt as if they had somehow stepped into a fairy tale.

Omur was equally astonished by what the Diamond Rank magic caster had done. However, he was old enough to adapt faster than the younger adventurers, so he immediately commanded everyone to inspect every inch of the castle so they could submit a report to the guild regarding it.

At the very least, they remembered what Flinx had told them about how the castle’s features worked.

They inspected the stove and sink, and those assigned to cook dinner that night were delighted by how much easier their tasks would become with the magical appliances inside the kitchen of the magic castle.

Soon, everyone chose the rooms they would sleep in.

Omur claimed the highest and largest room, the same room that Flinx had used when he summoned the tower in Ilioven.

They discovered that despite the magic castle having many magical features, there was truly nothing inside except for the water they could use for cooking and bathing.

Omur marveled at how magical the castle was as he took a long, hot bath in the master bedroom’s bathroom. He even wished that he had a house like this in Ilioven.

Soon, everyone returned to the first floor after bathing to eat dinner. Everyone expressed their admiration for how beautiful and convenient the magical palace was.

“I wish I could live in a place like this,” one of the girls said.

Everyone agreed with her, including Omur.

“Sir Flinx is truly powerful! Not only can he summon powerful elementals that can defeat strong monsters in seconds, but he can also create such a magical house,” one of the young male adventurers commented with his mouth full of food.

“Why is he using that log cabin instead of this magical palace?” another one asked.

“He’s alone, and it’s more convenient for him to use a smaller house. I’m thinking that his log cabin probably has all the magical features this castle has,” Omur said.

After some time, everyone returned to their chosen rooms to rest for the night.

Meanwhile, Flinx was sitting in the comfortable chair beside the window, reading the book he had purchased from his System Shopping Site.

He was reading an isekai novel by one of his favorite authors, L.E. Modesitt. The story was about a music professor who was also a soprano singer and was transported to a world where magic was controlled through music.

The book was titled The Soprano Sorceress, the first book in the Spellsong Cycle series.

He was already halfway through the novel, and he enjoyed the story so much that he was delighted to discover there were four more books in the series.

After a few more hours, Flinx became tired enough to sleep and comfortably rested in his bed.

The next day, he woke up early and ate a quick breakfast. When he exited his log cabin, he immediately dispelled it.

He saw that Omur and his companions were already awake and waiting outside the tower.

Seeing this, Flinx dispelled Galder’s Tower with a thought to prove that what he had told them was true—the tower would disappear in the morning.

Omur and the adventurers were surprised when the tower suddenly vanished.

“Did you all rest well?” Flinx asked.

They all nodded.

“Thank you again for your assistance, Sir Flinx. We also appreciate that you allowed us to rest inside your magical castle,” Omur said.

Flinx simply smiled, nodded, waved goodbye, and started walking east.

He looked back once and saw that the adventurers were still standing there, watching him.

He waved goodbye again, and they all waved back.

Then Flinx continued on his journey, with Pip flying among the trees and the invisible wind elemental flying above him, making sure he remained protected.

Flinx had decided that from then on, he would present himself as a healer.

He had the class for it and would try to heal those who needed help since casting his Cleric spells was easy enough for him.

He then thought that a healer should probably carry a staff, so he entered the forest to look for a suitable one.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t find anything suitable. Chopping down a tree just to make a staff was far too troublesome, so Flinx decided to purchase a cosplay prop from his System Shopping Site instead.

He whimsically chose a replica of Gandalf’s Staff.

The amusing part was that it was a battery-operated and rechargeable prop, meaning the crystal on top of the staff would light up whenever he turned it on.

He could recharge it using his solar charger once the battery ran out, but realistically, he probably wouldn’t bother. He would likely lose the staff somewhere eventually.

While holding the plastic staff, which was surprisingly sturdy enough to serve as an actual walking staff, Flinx thought about his clothes.

He decided that his current outfit was good enough to pass as a healer’s clothing, so there was no need to redesign it.

Flinx then asked Pip to land on top of his staff as a test. However, after a few seconds, he realized that the staff might break from Pip’s talons, so he told his familiar to return to scouting.

He did have one issue with pretending to be a healer.

He didn’t know if healers, like adventurers, had some kind of identification, such as cards or tokens. If that was the case, he didn’t have anything similar, and he might still need to rely on his Adventurer Guild card.

Still, it wasn’t an important matter and was merely a whim of his.

While walking, he checked the chat logs on the web-based messenger used by his fellow dungeon miners, as well as the forums. Everything appeared normal, so he returned to admiring the surrounding scenery.

Because of how slowly he was walking, even after traveling for three days, Flinx knew he was still not very far from Ilioven.

He had no idea where he currently was since he didn’t even have a map. He was simply following the road and didn’t really care where it led.

Around noon, he heard a cart approaching from behind.

When Flinx looked back, he saw that the cart, pulled by a forlorn-looking donkey, carried two people: an old farmer and a young boy.

Flinx amused himself by imagining that the two of them were Belgarath and Garion during one of their legendary journeys.

The cart stopped beside him.

“Young man, why are you walking this road? Are you heading to the town of Eldnore?” the old farmer asked.

“Yes, sir. I’m a healer, and I plan to heal as many people as I can. It’s a mission given to me by my teacher. My first stop will be the town you mentioned,” Flinx replied.

He had created a mission for himself that he believed would make him appear favorable to the locals.

“You’re a healer! Can you help us heal our Daisy?” the old farmer asked with a worried expression.

“Grandfather! Daisy is our cow! The healer said he’s a healer of people,” the boy beside him protested, looking embarrassed.

“No need to worry, young sir. I can also heal animals,” Flinx said.

He decided to help the farmer because the old man genuinely looked worried about his cow.

“Thank you! Thank you! I’m old Hank, and this is my grandson, Robert. My wife, his parents, and his siblings are all back at the farm,” the old farmer said.

“My name is Flinx, and I’m a healer from a foreign land,” Flinx straightforwardly told them that he was a foreigner, which would excuse his lack of knowledge regarding local customs.
