DMS Chapter 152
DMS Chapter 152
After their lovely three-day vacation, Flinx saw that everyone was as relaxed as they could be. They were all ready to return to doing what needed to be done.
What Flinx and his fellow Earthlings didn't know was that the reputation of their home as a truly magical place had grown tremendously because of the nonstop gossip spread by their four cooks and their assistants whenever they were outside.
Their employees were frequently outside as well. They had to purchase enough supplies to cover the consumption of more than thirty people. Not only that, but the four cooks and their four assistants were free to do whatever they wanted as long as they completed their work.
At the very least, Olivia had the foresight to choose servants who didn't have families. If their cooks and assistants had families, they likely would have petitioned Flinx to bring their relatives to live in the tower.
In truth, Flinx really didn't care. Their estate was now enormous, and after the modifications made by his fellow Earthlings, it had become a paradise. If Flinx were living there alone, maintaining the place would have been extremely difficult.
The only consolation he had was that his ninth-level Wizard spell, Wish, could replicate any lower-level spell, which meant he could copy any Druid spell of eighth level or below.
The day after their vacation ended, all of the Earthlings, including Flinx, returned to the Dungeon of Mara to resume delving.
Olivia went to the shop with the four children, while Ambrose attended his adventurer school and Christopher went to the restaurant where he was training as a chef.
Christopher was especially excited because he had used his sister's budding relationship with Samuel to obtain recipes for many of the dishes from different countries on Earth that Flinx had purchased through the System Shopping Site during their vacation.
The recipes were easy enough for Samuel to acquire. A few quick internet searches allowed him to earn some brownie points with his new paramour's brother.
Meanwhile, Flinx finally summoned Pip again using an eleventh-level spell slot. He couldn't bear using a lower-level spell slot because it broke his heart to see Pip return to a non-sentient state whenever he was summoned that way.
His owl was somewhat angry with him because Flinx had asked for the Floating Orb of Spells back. Flinx only managed to pacify Pip after giving him the Wand of the Fire Mage and the Wand of Healing.
Flinx planned to hand the orb over to one of his fellow Earthlings because it was extremely useful during dungeon delving. He gave the item to Mark and left the decision of who should use it in his hands. Later, he learned that the orb would rotate among the five teams exploring the dungeon.
Since Flinx would be returning to the final floor of the Dungeon of Mara, his fellow Earthlings kept reminding him to keep any items he obtained rather than selling them. Considering their comparatively low levels, many of those items would likely prove useful to them.
Another significant contribution Flinx made was providing a powerful elemental to each of the five teams. He could now maintain a total of eleven Wizard summons.
Six of those slots were already occupied. One was Pip, another was Pondy, the third and fourth were the Rockies, and the fifth and sixth were the two wind elementals that would accompany Flinx during his dungeon delving. He decided to reduce the number of elementals guarding Olivia's shop and the four children to just the two Rockies.
Flinx's elementals, summoned using eleventh-level spell slots and bound through Planar Binding cast at the same level, were extraordinarily powerful. Everyone chose earth elementals because they were the most effective tanks for dungeon exploration.
Because of Flinx's elementals, the Earthlings decided to begin delving into the nineteenth floor of the Dungeon of Mara.
It was their first day testing such a deep floor with the support of Flinx's summons. They hoped it would allow them to earn more experience points and mana stones.
While they were walking toward the Dungeon of Mara, Paul suddenly asked whether they should allow one or two people to accompany Flinx on his delve as a form of power-leveling service. Carrying a couple of additional party members shouldn't significantly affect Flinx's experience gains.
They didn't actually know whether something like that would work, but having someone accompany Flinx would answer many questions regarding how experience points were distributed.
"Fine by me. I think anyone who joins me will be fairly safe since I'll simply have my two wind elementals protect them," Flinx told them.
The main issue was deciding who should accompany him.
If the test proved effective, whoever they selected would likely become Flinx's permanent party member. It made more sense to rapidly level one person than to spread the experience gains among several people.
They eventually chose Peter, a Rogue. Peter was a member of Mark's team, and even without him, the team should be fine, especially with one of Flinx's elementals accompanying them.
Another reason they selected Peter was his situation back on Earth. Before being kidnapped by the Torbal Slavers, he had recently married, and his wife had been pregnant.
Over the years, Peter had never stopped communicating with his wife, and she had never given up on him despite the five years he had been absent from her life.
Peter's wife's family had even begun treating her as mentally unstable because she insisted that Peter was still alive. They constantly told her that the man speaking to her over the internet was a stranger. At one point, they had nearly taken her child away because they believed she was delusional.
Eventually, she stopped talking about Peter to other people, but she never stopped communicating with him online.
Because of that, Peter was one of those who most desperately wanted to return to Earth.
Flinx agreed to bring Peter along on his delve into the final floor of the Dungeon of Mara. To ensure Peter's safety, he planned to have one wind elemental carry him through the air while the other prevented any dungeon monsters from getting close.
Meanwhile, Olivia was startled to learn from her employees that her home had become extremely famous.
After assigning study work to David, Keero, Arcios, and Violet, she returned to questioning her employees about the rumors surrounding their residence.
Apparently, everyone now knew that their home was an incredibly magical place with a wonderful lake that prevented swimmers from drowning. It was also said that the magical water could heal bodily fatigue and that its temperature always remained pleasantly warm. Furthermore, the water supposedly stayed crystal clear and perfectly pure at all times.
Another rumor claimed that Olivia's home was filled with beautiful towers surrounded by flowers and plants that would put even noble palaces to shame. Though the towers were not particularly large, their beauty was said to be incomparable.
Olivia's three female employees couldn't help but ask if they could see the place for themselves. They were so persistent that she finally agreed to show it to them after work.
She viewed it as a reward for their hard work. In truth, she admired their work ethic and had never found anything to complain about.
It was eventually decided that the shop would close early that day so Olivia could show her home to the girls. She even invited them to spend the night there. She believed her room was large enough to accommodate all three of them comfortably for one evening.
At around five in the afternoon, many of the regular customers were surprised to learn that the shop would be closing early. Olivia simply explained that her employees needed some rest.
Afterward, they visited a store to purchase clothes suitable for swimming, as well as overnight necessities such as blankets and pillows. Olivia paid for everything they bought as an additional bonus for her hardworking employees.
