Vera’s servants arrived carrying food and drinks after a few minutes of waiting. While they were eating, Menard and his mother finally entered the room.
Flinx and Vera stood up.
“Ruiz, again, this is my mother, Monalisa,” Menard introduced her mother, who was now wearing nice clothes.
Even though Menard’s mother still looked extremely thin, she now moved actively. Flinx saw that Monalisa was a very strong woman, and he could actually see her regaining her aura as an extremely capable woman as the minutes went by.
“Ruiz, I want to give you my thanks for healing me. I will be resuming my role as the matriarch of the family. Menard would still need to learn a lot more. That means that I will also be assuming the debt of healing myself. He told me that you are requesting information about an evil wizard organization. Are you fine with me handling your request?” Monalisa asked, and when Flinx nodded, she immediately asked her son and Vera to leave the seating room.
Flinx tried his very best to remain calm, but in truth, he was beginning to become intimidated by Menard’s mother. She simply exuded the aura of someone who had a formidable willpower.
“Menard told me that you’re unwilling to share the information on why you want to find the Torbal Slavers. Because of how huge our debt is to you, you didn’t need to share that information, and I will still do everything in my power to find that information, but it would help me a great deal to learn the reason for your search.”
“It’s simple, really. They’re called Torbal Slavers. They enslaved a few friends of mine, and it’s now my mission to rescue them.”
Flinx didn’t share his true goal of destroying the wizard enslavers. Of course, his priority was to save his fellow Earthlings, but destroying the slavers was also an important goal for him. He had made a vow to himself that once his fellow Earthlings were safe, he would start his campaign of annihilating the Torbal Slavers from the face of this world.
“Based on what I felt when you healed me, the deity that you serve and allowed you to cast your Clerical spells was a good one. Because I had been inactive for several months due to my sickness, my influence had waned, but I will be able to get it back. With my influence, I will have the power to learn everything that you will need to know. Unfortunately, it will take time since I will need to use some of my hidden assets to hire mercenaries to get around the assets that were illegally taken from me.”
“If you need martial strength, I can provide you with four extremely powerful stone golems that will follow your every command. The golems came from the head of my order. The reason I’m willing to provide you with this help is that I don’t have too much time. I need to save my friends as soon as possible, and because of that, I will need the information as quickly as you can gather it.”
“If your golems are truly powerful, I can be ready within two days, and will be powerful enough to gather the information that you need around three days after that.”
Flinx thought for a bit. If Monalisa could deliver her promise, it would greatly assist him a lot. More than likely, once he arrived at the kingdoms between this one and Gremos, he would still need to do a lot of work to gather the information that he would need to pinpoint the location of the Torbal Slavers. With more information from Monalisa, that need would decrease.
After a couple of minutes of thinking, Flinx agreed with Monalisa.
“It will take me several minutes to summon the golems. I can do it here, but please make sure that I won’t be disturbed.”
“Do you need me to leave?”
When Flinx shook his head to indicate that Monalisa didn’t need to leave, the old merchant woman became visibly excited. Flinx understood that the main reason for that was that the merchant would be able to see the magic that would let him summon powerful golems. He knew that the old lady would be disappointed since his way of casting spells was not normal in this world, since it was equal to just clicking an icon in his head, so there was nothing an outsider could see.
Flinx didn’t wait any longer and used his Wizard tenth-level spell slot to cast the fifth-level spell Conjure Elemental. Since he only had a couple of tenth-level spell slots, he needed to wait for ten minutes to summon two more Earth Elementals.
He asked Monalisa how long he would need the golems for. After thinking for a bit, Menard’s mother told him that she would need the golem for around five or six days.
Flinx bound the earth elementals by casting the fifth-level Planar Binding spell using his seventh-level spell slots. Since he had four seventh-level spell slots, he didn’t need to wait for the cooldowns to complete and was able to bind the elementals immediately.
Monalisa looked extremely impressed while observing the four powerful-looking stone golems. Thankfully, Flinx dismissed his four wind elementals before leaving Ilioven. He commanded the four golems to follow Monalisa’s every command.
After that, Menard’s mother summoned a servant and commanded her to lead Flinx to one of the guest rooms. The plan was for Flinx to stay in the merchant’s house while Monalisa started her campaign of regaining her power and gathering all the information about the Torbal Wizards. He laughed when the servants looked extremely afraid while looking at Flinx’s four stone golems.
Menard and Vera were also extremely surprised. Flinx listened while Menard’s mother explained to her son her plan of reclaiming their businesses with the help of the four golems. Flinx realized that the discussion between mother and son would take a while, so he asked the servant to lead him to the guest room assigned to him.
Once he was alone, Flinx cleaned himself first using several castings of the Prestidigitation spell. He didn’t want to take a bath because he felt that bathing in an unknown house would make him a little vulnerable. After that, even though he dreaded it, he opened the forum threads that contained the information regarding the status of his fellow Earthlings.
He was extremely grateful that the number of Earthling slaves didn’t decrease further. He closed the forums immediately and started reviewing his Cleric spells again. If he wanted to continue posing as a Cleric, he would need to familiarize himself with his Cleric spells. In truth, he didn’t need to pose since he was actually a Cleric. The main issue that he was having was his extreme unfamiliarity with the list of spells that he had already purchased.
After a while, Flinx stopped reading the information about his Cleric spells since what he truly needed to do to familiarize themselves with them was to cast them, and he wasn’t in a place where he could do so. He thought about returning to his tower in Ilioven to visit the four children, Olivia, and her brothers, but decided to hold off on doing so. He decided that it would be better to visit them after a few more days.
Soon, someone knocked on his door. When Flinx opened it, it was Menard. The man asked him to join the family for dinner. When he arrived at the dining room, the only people there were Menard’s wife, his brother, his brother’s wife, and Menard’s two nephews.
“You closed your Trading Post?” Flinx asked the merchant, but Menard said that it was still open and was currently being handled by one of the family’s servants.
Monalisa wasn’t present, though. Apparently, she was still busy reclaiming the family’s assets.
