DMS Chapter 124
DMS Chapter 124
Flinx realized that he didn’t even ask for the name of the town that he had just been to, but thought that since that town was a temporary town formed by nomads that followed their herd of animals, it might not even have a name.
While flying, Flinx was extremely grateful that he had an interface that allowed him to see the duration of all of his buffs, especially the Fly spell. The information that was being provided by his Transmigration System allowed him to renew all of his buffs seamlessly.
During his flight, Flinx was also grateful for his Invisibility spell since it allowed him to bypass the flying monsters that he encountered in the air. He didn’t want to delay his journey by battling all the monsters along the way.
When the sun had started to set, Flinx looked for a place where he could stay to rest. At first, he thought of teleporting back into his tower in Ilioven, but decided that it would be better to return there once he had completed his mission.
He didn’t want to go deep into the forest, since he didn’t want to bother fighting the monsters that might disturb his rest, so once the setting sun had dipped further, Flinx decided to just rest beside the road.
Once he was on the ground, Flinx cast his third-level Galder’s Tower spell using its original spell slot. The tower that appeared was only two stories. The first floor was the living room, dining room, and kitchen in one, and the second floor was the bedroom and toilet combinations. The first and second floors were copies of the floors that his tower had in Ilioven.
After that, Flinx summoned Pip and one Wind Elemental that would work as his guards while he rested. He then ate one of the foods that he still had remaining from the time he cooked a lot of food when he was traveling with the merchant caravan on the way to Ilioven. After that, he took a shower and slept immediately.
He was utterly exhausted. His emotions were raw because of his worries that he wouldn’t reach his fellow Earthlings, and that the wizard enslavers had killed all of them.
Flinx had also kept flying nonstop from morning until evening. He didn’t even stop for lunch and just kept on flying.
He finally steeled himself to check out the forums for an update on the status of his fellow Earthlings, and was happy that their numbers didn’t decrease. That relief made him go into a deep sleep.
The next day, Flinx spent ten dollars on his System Shipping Site to purchase pancakes and coffee. After that, he dispelled his Galder’s Tower and started flying westward again, with Pip and one Wind Elemental that he conjured following him.
Finally, at around two in the afternoon, he reached the city called Evanor. According to the map that he bought from that information broker in that unnamed town, Evanor was a dark city as well, but a little milder than the truly dark city. At the very least, there was still a little law and order in Evanor.
Flinx flew down after reaching a part of the road that was empty of people. He asked Pip and the Wind Elemental to hide themselves. Both his familiar and the wind elemental could hide, so he didn’t have to dispel them.
He then wore his Actor’s Mask and proceeded to enter the city. The guards asked for a few copper coins as an entrance fee. Unfortunately for Flinx, he didn’t have any coins lower than a gold coin, so he simply handed a gold coin to the guards, which made them grin. Once he was inside, Flinx saw that a bunch of kids who looked like feral rats were eyeing him.
“Hey, you! Can you lead me to a coin changer?” Flinx barked at one of the taller ones.
“A copper!”
“Sure, once I change my gold coins into copper!” Flinx laughed boisterously, trying to sound like one of those burly adventurers that he had seen back at the entrance of the Dungeon of Mara.
He hoped that his act would convince some of the criminals who were now eying him to have second thoughts about attacking him. He wasn’t afraid, but Flinx didn’t want his journey littered with the bodies of criminals.
Unfortunately, Flinx felt that instead of the malicious intent on him decreasing, it increased further. He wondered why that was so. Then he realized that he wasn’t carrying any weapon.
“Follow me!” the feral-looking kid shouted at Flinx.
The kid led him to a shop that sells travel supplies, simply named “Trading Post”. The kid saw his questioning look and told him that the shop owner could also change his coins.
“I’ll stay here until you pay me!” The kid said belligerently to Flinx.
Upon entering the trading post, Flinx saw that the shop was filled with all sorts of things: waxed tents, travel lanterns, ropes, travel bags, clothes, booths, and more. A large man was behind a counter, but Flinx saw that there were three youths working the shelves.
“What can I help you with?” The large man asked when Flinx approached the man.
“One of the street rats told me you can change my gold coins into silver and copper coins.”
“I can do that.”
Flinx showed a purse that contained a hundred gold coins to the merchant, who covered the purse with his hand. He then asked if the merchant could change eighty gold coins into silver and twenty gold coins into copper.
The merchant nodded and left to gather the coins. Once the large merchant was back, Flinx handed the one hundred gold coins to the merchant, and in return, he was handed several purses containing silver and copper coins.
Flinx then wandered around the shop to check if he could find anything that he could use. He found a weapons rack and debated whether he should purchase a sword or a dagger that he could wear for show. One of the teenagers, who was probably a relative of the large merchant man by the counter, assisted him by showing him a bunch of swords and helping Flinx wear sword and dagger sheaths on his side or at his back.
After several tests, Flinx found them encumbering, so he decided against wearing weapons. He decided that if anyone attacked him, he would just fight using magic. He was a wizard anyway, and there was no need to act as a warrior.
Flinx then remembered his second class, which was the Cleric class. He decided that he could act as a Cleric if needed, since more than likely, those who had such a class were a respectable bunch. The main issue was that Flinx was unfamiliar with his Cleric spells.
He didn’t know if Clerics on this world needed to declare the deity they were following. He decided that, if he acted as a Cleric, he would declare that his god or goddess didn’t want to be named.
“Are you not going to wear a weapon? It’s dangerous out there,” The teenager asked.
“I didn’t find any weapon I liked. I’m a cleric, so if anyone attacks me, I’ll just destroy them using my spells,” Flinx said.
He decided to be forward with the boy as a form of a test. As expected, the boy started looking at him in awe.
The merchant then ran toward Flinx.
“You said you’re a Cleric. So you must know healing spells?” the large merchant asked, and Flinx nodded.
