Dungeon Miner Slave

DMS Chapter 121

DMS Chapter 121

That night, Flinx informed everyone that he would be extremely busy for the next few weeks and would likely return home very late. He told them that if he had not returned by dinner time, they should eat without waiting for him and rest afterward.

“Is there a reason you’ll be so busy?” Olivia asked.

“I received bad news from home. Because of that, increasing my strength through dungeon delving has become urgent. There will be days when I’ll have to remain inside the dungeon for as long as sixteen hours.”

“That’s extremely unhealthy!” Olivia exclaimed.

“I know, but I have no choice. I’ll try to limit it to three or four times a week so I can still rest properly.”

Everyone looked worried, especially the four children. To reassure them, Flinx explained that he would still have time to spend with them on most nights. They would even be able to continue watching movies together at least twice a week. That finally seemed to ease the children’s concerns.

The next morning, after breakfast, Flinx immediately headed toward the Dungeon of Mara. Upon arriving, he informed the guild staff that he would return to paying his taxes daily instead of every two months. The staff on duty merely shrugged and accepted his decision. Flinx believed daily payments would be more convenient due to his unpredictable delving schedule.

The deaths of several fellow Earthlings weighed heavily on his mind. Knowing that the remaining dungeon miner slaves could be killed at any moment filled him with urgency. Because of that, Flinx resolved to clear the final floor of the Dungeon of Mara as many as four times a day over the coming weeks.

After paying the entrance fee, Flinx began slaughtering the monsters on the dungeon floor.

With his increased spell slots and greater spell power, he was able to eliminate the dungeon monsters at an astonishing pace. By commanding his four wind elementals to handle separate groups of monsters while he dealt with another group himself, Flinx effectively operated as two adventuring parties at once.

The strategy proved devastatingly effective.

Whenever he finished dealing with his enemies, Flinx would fly past his wind elementals while hidden under the effects of Invisibility and immediately engage the next group of monsters. Meanwhile, his elementals continued exterminating their own targets without pause.

Before receiving news about the Earthlings, Flinx had intended to practice his Cleric spells during his dungeon runs and grow accustomed to using them in battle. However, he abandoned that plan entirely and devoted all his Cleric spell slots to strengthening his Wizard abilities instead.

By the end of the day, Flinx discovered that his new method allowed him to clear the final floor of the Dungeon of Mara five times within fifteen hours.

After paying his taxes, he immediately teleported back to his room in the tower. Exhaustion weighed heavily on him, so he contacted Olivia through his eighth-level Telepathy spell and informed her that he had returned home safely but needed to sleep immediately.

Flinx ate one of the prepared meals stored in his fourth tab space, soaked in a hot bath to relax his body, and quickly fell asleep.

He woke at around six in the morning and was relieved to find that Christopher had already prepared breakfast. After eating quickly, Flinx informed the boy that he could not wait for everyone else before leaving once more.

Using Teleport, he traveled to a hidden alleyway near the Dungeon of Mara. After paying the entrance fee, he immediately resumed delving.

For the next two weeks, Flinx dedicated himself entirely to clearing the final floor of the Dungeon of Mara. Each day, he completed five full runs, made possible by his strategy of allowing the four wind elementals to fight independently while he handled separate groups alone.

Most nights, he returned home around ten o’clock and only had a few minutes to spend with everyone before collapsing into bed from exhaustion.

After two relentless weeks of delving, Flinx raised his Wizard Class to level ten with eighty-six percent experience toward the next level. His Cleric Class also advanced to level four.

Flinx understood that he needed only a few more days, perhaps a week at most, before reaching his goal of fifteen total accumulated levels—the minimum requirement before he could attempt to rescue his fellow Earthlings.

Because of that, he continued his brutal schedule for another week.

At the end of that week, Flinx finally reached level eleven as a Wizard, with twenty-one percent experience toward level twelve. Combined with his level four Cleric Class, he had finally achieved his goal.

However, he was utterly exhausted.

Instead of attempting the rescue immediately, Flinx decided to rest for a full day. With the assistance of his Cleric spells, he was confident his body would recover completely within twenty-four hours.

After three weeks of intense dungeon delving, Flinx had accumulated an enormous amount of wealth. After taxes, he possessed a total of 1,260 low-level mana stones, 672 medium-level mana stones, and 336 high-level mana stones, all safely stored within his fourth tab space.

He had also obtained six magical items.

Initially, Flinx had believed that delving into the dungeon so many times each day would result in a large number of valuable magical items. However, he eventually realized that truly useful equipment was exceedingly rare.

The abundance of magical items he had acquired during his earlier dungeon runs was mainly due to conquering new floors for the first time. Once those floors were repeatedly cleared, valuable loot became far less common. The same thing had happened with the final floor of the Dungeon of Mara.

Flinx now understood that, as a veteran delver of the Mara Dungeon, he could no longer expect to obtain powerful magical items regularly.

Unfortunately, none of the recent items he had acquired were useful to him, so he sold all of them to the guild for a total of nine hundred gold coins.

After taking a long and relaxing bath, Flinx fell into a deep sleep.

When he finally woke, he realized he had slept for ten full hours. Everyone else had already left, leaving the tower completely silent.

After eating breakfast, Flinx began formulating a tentative plan for his arrival on the planet ruled by the wizard enslavers.

He was deeply worried because once he used his seventh-level Plane Shift spell to travel there, his options for a return location would be extremely limited. Most likely, he would choose the small cave where he once slept as a dungeon miner slave, since it was the place with which he was most familiar.

When Flinx completed his rescue plan, he withdrew all of his gold coins from his 4th tab space and placed them in one of the chests in his bedroom in the tower. After that, he used his eighth-level Telepathy spell to talk to Olivia, telling her that he would be leaving for a few days, and if he didn’t return after seven days, she would need to enter his room and check the letter that he left inside the chest by the foot of his bed.

Flinx assumed that if he wasn’t back within seven days, he probably had met his demise. The letter would inform Olivia that the gold coins were for them. He also reminded Olivia that all of the elementals that he had conjured, like the three Rockies, Pondy, and the four Wind Elementals, would be able to stay with them for two more years.
