DMS Chapter 104
DMS Chapter 104
Flinx was still full of adrenaline when the huge fire dragon was killed. It took him several minutes to calm down. After his emotions had settled down, he stored the mana stone that his wind elemental had gathered for him in his 4th tab space, then opened the chest that contained the loot from completing the 50th floor.
Inside the treasure chest, Flinx found two items. One was a sword, and one was a staff. He humorously thought of Gandalf’s sword and staff from the Lord of the Rings movies. The sword and the staff just vaguely resembled Gandalf’s weapons, but that was the first thing that entered Flinx’s mind.
Since he was curious, Flinx cast the 1st-level spell Identify to identify the sword and the staff. He was disappointed. The identification stated that the sword was just a Greater Fire Sword, which would cause large fire damage on hit, and the staff was a Firebolt Staff that would allow the user to cast the spell Firebolt for up to 10 times a day.
Flinx held the Firebolt staff and used one of its charges. Based on what he had seen, it was only as powerful as a Cantrip-level spell, Firebolt. He hadn’t even purchased that spell since he found it lackluster. He stored the identified sword and staff in his 4th tab space and checked the total mana stones he had received.
He had received a total of 30 low-level mana stones, 20 medium-level mana stones, and 10 high-level mana stones from the floor, which was curiously, roughly the same as the number of mana stones he had received from the 40th floor of the Dungeon of Mara.
After that, he checked the most important thing: the total experience points he had earned from completing the 50th floor of the Dungeon of Mara. When he opened the tab that would let him check his experience points, Flinx was ecstatic to see that his experience points had climbed up to 4 percent from their previous 2 percent. That meant that the 50th floor provided him with a whopping 2 percent of experience points.
Flinx had completed the floor in around 7 hours. That meant that if he rushed it, he could run the floor twice a day, which meant that he would reach the 8th level of his wizard class, give or take 25 to 30 days. All in all, it meant that he could continue delving into the dungeon of Mara for months before he was required to delve into much more dangerous dungeons.
The good thing about the Mara Dungeon was that the dungeon monsters inside could be easily defeated by him. He didn’t need to look for a party, and he could delve into the dungeon daily, treating it as a 9-to-5 job.
Flinx was just giddy with happiness because instead of taking him several months, in just several weeks, he would be able to level up his wizard class. It brought home the fact that he really needed to rush; he could delve into higher-level dungeons, which of course would be more dangerous, and his experience points would skyrocket. Still, he didn’t want to gamble with his life, so he would remain in Mara Dungeon until he reached level 10.
Flinx separated the mana stones he would give to the Adventurer Guild for the tax, which would be 6 low-level mana stones, 4 medium-level mana stones, and 2 high-level mana stones. He was aware that with the number of mana stones he had been submitting, he would be considered a valuable adventurer. He wasn’t even harvesting monster materials, which made the people from the guild sigh at the waste.
The issue with gathering materials from dungeon monsters was that it would delay his delve considerably, and at that moment, experience points from killing dungeon monsters were his priority. Since he would be earning considerable funds from just the mana stones, he thought that the materials from dungeon monsters weren’t truly necessary.
Regarding the sword and the staff, he would just ask Ambrose to sell the two items and pay the tax on the items from the earnings from selling them. At the very least, Ambrose didn’t have to pay to have the items identified since he already did it.
Flinx was happy with his current finances, so they were not his priority. He had a total of 4,197 low-level mana stones left, 66 medium-level mana stones, and 20 high-level mana stones, and he expected those numbers to grow since he wasn’t planning to stop dungeon delving anytime soon.
Once he was done checking all the earnings that Flinx had received from his recent delve, he checked the time, and it was only 3 in the afternoon. He decided not to delve into the dungeon anymore and would start his twice-run of the 50th floor the next day. He was hoping that he could complete delving the said floor twice in just 11 to 12 hours. That meant that if he started at around 7 in the morning, he would be done by seven in the evening.
Flinx even thought of taking a day or twice a day per week to stop delving into the dungeon and focus on something else, like a new hobby, just to make sure that he would have not get burnt out but he would probably do that at a later time since he was still extremely excited of delving into 50th floor of the Dungeon of Mara, simply because of the high amount of experience points he would earn.
After he was done with the counting of his earnings and his planning of what he would do next, Flinx dispelled his elementals and exited the dungeon. He paid his tax under the effects of the Adventurer Guild’s truth spell, declared the two items he had received, and told the guild that he would pay for the items’ tax once they were sold. After that, he started walking home.
One advantage of delving into the dungeon of Mara was that no adventurer bothered him, like asking him to be part of their group or something of that sort. It was simply because the adventurers delving into the Dungeon of Mara were mostly silver-ranked.
Basically, the advantage that Flinx thought the Dungeon of Mara had, which was its shorter paths that could be completed within a day, was a disadvantage in the eyes of normal adventurers because they wouldn’t earn much from delving the floors of the said dungeon.
Since it was early, Flinx had decided to visit the family shop to check out the situation there. He flagged a carriage and told the driver to go to the family shop location. When he reached Olivia’s shop, he saw that there were a bunch of women dressed like nobles or the rich wives of merchants inside. Flinx saw Olivia and the new shopkeeper, who was wearing the Tiara of Charm that he had looted from the Dungeon of Mara’s 40th floor, assisting some of the women. Olivia was demonstrating the effect of the soap on the loofah pouf in the makeshift basin that she had set up in the shop. Natalie, who was the name of the salesgirl that Olivia hired, was presenting different candles to three haughty-looking women. He didn’t see Christopher, Ambrose, and the four kids inside, and two of the golems were gone as well, so more than likely, the six kids were off somewhere adventuring.
Flinx didn’t enter the shop since if he did, he would be the only man there, and it would be a little awkward, so he decided to roam around the different shops near Olivia’s Scented Soaps and Candles shop.
