Olivia bought two high-class dresses that she could wear while she was out and about, and two regular dresses that she could wear while working inside the tower. She also brought other ladies' things. Now, she was selecting clothes for Violet.
She had already managed to choose a couple of clothes that she found acceptable that Violet liked, when Christopher and Ambrose returned. Her two brothers now looked like young nobles. She saw them carrying a nice bag, and Olivia knew that the bag contained more clothes for the two of them. Flinx asked them to buy enough clothes for a week.
“Thank goodness, you two are back. I should have asked you earlier to bring David, Arcios, and Keero with you to buy them clothes. Bring one of the golems with you.”
Olivia gave Christopher more coins and turned her attention back to selecting things for Violet. Christopher and Ambrose just looked at each other, shrugged, and went outside to bring the three orphans to buy clothes.
After a couple of hours, all of them were now wearing nice clothes.
“We look like nobles!” David exclaimed while looking at the clothes he was wearing.
Keero and Arcios were also admiring their clothes, while Violet was strutting around with her dress, carrying a cute little purse. Looking at how the four kids move, Olivia remembered Flinx’s command to teach the four orphans how to behave acceptably in society and knew that there was going to be a formidable battle ahead of her. At the very least, the kids looked obedient so far.
The rest of the day was spent purchasing a lot of things they needed to buy. They stopped at noon to eat at an affordable restaurant and continued their shopping. Soon, the cart was full, and the sun had started to set. Everyone was exhausted. Even the four children, whom Olivia thought wouldn’t run out of energy, started to look listless.
Unfortunately, their cart's wheels gave out, so now two golems were carrying the cart by lifting it. When the four children climbed the cart, it looked like the four children’s weight, together with all the things they had purchase was still not heavy enough for the golems who were carrying the cart effortlessly.
Olivia couldn’t fault the cart’s crafter. They abused it by putting a tremendous amount of things on it, and together with four children jumping around in it, it was understandable that it would give out.
Olivia thought that she would only need a day to purchase all the things on the list that she had made, but she only managed to complete a third of the items she planned to purchase. That meant that she would probably need two more days to complete the assignment.
At the very least, she was extremely proud that she had only spent a total of 60 gold coins from the 300 gold coin budget that Flinx gave her.
When they arrived at the tower, they saw that Flinx wasn’t home yet. They entered the gate first without needing to unlock it. Flinx told her that the lock was now magic and that the only people who could enter it were she, her brothers, and the four kids. Flinx did tell her that the gate’s magic lock was extremely simple and easy enough to bypass. People could still enter by climbing over the walls.
Not that Olivia expected anyone to enter the premises. This area was protected by several groups of guards patrolling about, since a lot of rich folks lived in this area. Also, the tower was locked with a magic lock, and that one couldn’t be easily bypassed, simply because of how solid the tower was.
Not that there was anything inside the tower that could be stolen. There was simply nothing valuable inside that could be taken out. Flinx told them that any part of the tower that was taken outside its premises would simply disappear.
When they entered the tower, Olivia commanded the three golems to remain on guard outside.
During the next few hours, everyone was busy putting away all the things they had purchased. Everyone helped, and they all enjoyed the process. There was a sense that everything they were storing was theirs.
First, they all ran to their rooms to store all the personal things they bought, like their clothes and other accessories. That took everyone a while since after they arranged their things inside their rooms, they kept on admiring their things, especially the four orphans. It was the first time they had things they could call their own.
Violet was especially gentle while storing her brand new clothes, under things, socks, pretty shoes, her purses, and her hair accessories. Olivia bought her a lot of hair accessories even though Violet’s hair was short, like a boy’s.
After that, they all helped Olivia store all the food stuff she had purchased. Even with all the things they had bought, the kitchen storage items, like the cabinets, cupboards, bins, and boxes, still looked a little empty.
Christopher started preparing the ingredients for the food that he would cook that night, and everyone helped him. Olivia knew that the kids only helped because all the things in the kitchen, like the stove and the sink faucets that produced cold and hot water, simply looked too novel for them.
By the time the food was cooked, Flinx had already returned. The four children joyfully greeted the magic caster and showed off their new clothes. Flinx admired everyone's clothes and praised Violet and Olivia’s beauty, calling them beautiful, noble ladies.
Olivia just smiled, knowing Flinx was just humoring them, but Violet blushed.
While they were eating, Flinx asked Olivia if she was done buying all the things the tower would need.
“I underestimate the job. It would probably take me two to three more days before I buy everything I need to buy. I haven’t even started buying the things that I’ll need to start teaching the kids,” Olivia laughed.
“Just take your time, then,” Flinx just shrugged.
Christopher's cooking was palatable, and that was the only thing Flinx could say about it. At least, Christopher knew that he was lacking and vowed to learn more about cooking nutritious food.
Flinx could see that Olivia’s brothers were worried that both of them would be found lacking.
“So, which floor did you delve into?” Olivia asked.
The questions caught the attention of everyone, especially the four children.
“It just checked it out. I only delved into the tenth floor. I still managed to earn a lot, though, and since I was alone, all the loot went straight to me. Based on that, a powerful adventurer with no ambition would become rich just delving into the 10th floor alone.”
“I want to become an adventurer!” Ambrose said.
Olivia glared at her brother, who looked back at her in defiance. Flinx looked at the boy.
“You will need training to become an adventurer. If you find a teacher, tell me, and I’ll pay for it,” Flinx told Ambrose.
“What about you?” He asked Christopher.
“I’ll stay here and help Olivia. I want to continue learning how to cook. Regarding the shop you wanted us to open, I’m thinking that it should be related to food,” Christopher said.
“Like a restaurant?”
“I won’t be able to handle a restaurant. Something much smaller than that.”
“Like a food cart?”
Flinx then told them the concept of specialty food carts, like taco carts or the ones that were selling hot dog sandwiches. Of course, Ilioven had street food, but Flinx thought that if the family were to open its own food cart, it should be special.
