DMS Chapter 32

Flinx wanted the berries, so he used his familiar to lure the giant snake away from the magical plant, and when it was not enough, he also used the Minor Illusion spell to make sure that the Python followed his familiar.

He became a little excited when he saw that the venomous giant python was reluctant to move away from the berries. It meant that the berries were extremely valuable.

When Flinx thought that the giant python was far enough away from the plants that contained the berries, he immediately cast a second Crown of Stars spell and sent 14 motes of light towards the Giant Python.

The two casts of the powerful level 7 spell were enough to kill the giant python; the 14 motes of light unerringly hit the python's head and other body parts. The python’s head exploded, which Flinx felt was possibly a mistake since maybe the Python’s venom glands and fangs were valuable. But then again, he needed the monster to die for the experience points. When he was sure that the giant snake was dead by commanding his owl familiar to prod the monster’s corpse, Flinx started harvesting what he could from the python’s body. First, he searched for the mana crystal, and he found three of them near the gall bladder.

Based on the size and color of the mana stones, they were the same as the stones that he gathered from the trolls, which were medium-level mana stones.

When he was done butchering the python’s corpse, which made him feel glad about the Telekinesis spell because it allowed him to butcher the corpse without getting up close and personal with it, he immediately went to the bush that had the berries and harvested them.

Flinx stored the berries in his 4^th tab space immediately to avoid the fruit from spoiling. He remembered that in the cultivation novels that he had read, plant treasure usually would spoil very quickly if stored in a not non-specialized vessels, but he thought that maybe his 4^th tab space would be able to prevent something like that from happening to the berries. He decided that he would inspect them once he returned home.

After he was done, Flinx thought of staying in the area since the python’s blood might lure some powerful monsters, and then he could kill them for experience points. A few minutes passed, and Flinx was on top of a tree, sitting in a branch, waiting when the corpse of the python did lure someone. Unfortunately, the smell lured the Orcs.

Flinx didn’t want to cause any misunderstanding with the Orcs and didn’t want to battle with them, since he thought that they were the local inhabitants in the area, so he stayed extremely still. He just hoped that they didn’t smell him or something. What he didn’t know was that, because of his Prestidigitation spell that he kept using to clean his body and his clothes, he didn’t have any smell that could reach those who had powerful smelling abilities.

Flinx saw that the Orcs were cautious and made sure that there were no monsters nearby. When they were sure, they started butchering the body of the Python. He thought that maybe the Orcs considered the Python’s meat a delicacy because they looked happy enough harvesting the snake’s meat.

The Orcs knew what they were doing because after a few minutes, they harvested all the meat, organs, and skin of the giant python. One good thing about observing the Orcs in a nearby place was, Flinx was able to confirm that the Orcs were speaking in another language. He decided that once he returned to Beldor Town, he would ask Anuel about the Orcs.

Once Flinx was sure that the Orcs were gone, he commanded his familiar to move on, and he followed the owl. After about an hour, Pip found a small rocky hill that had a cave entrance. When he reached the cave entrance, Flinx stopped at a branch and thought of what he should do next. He decided to command his owl familiar to enter the cave and lure out the monsters that he was sure were hiding inside it.

The cave was fairly large and knew that if there was any monster inside, it was sure to be large a well. He was right. After a while, his familiar flew outside, followed by some terrifying screeches. The screeches came from a couple of huge Owl Bears.

What made Flinx’s hackles rise was how extremely agile the Owl Bears were. They managed to jump high enough to catch Pip. Flinx didn’t want his familiar to suffer, so he immediately dispelled the Familiar spell, then he cast a second Crown of Stars spell and sent seven motes of light each to the two Owl Bears.

Flinx made sure to target the Owl Bear’s head since he thought that the thick skin and fur of the bear might be enough of a defense for the bear to avoid getting damaged. Because of the quick movement of the Owl Bears, both bears managed to avoid most of the motes of light, but a couple did hit each of them, which caused considerable damage based on how howls that came from the two monsters.

He wondered briefly if the Owl Bears were considered high-level monsters. Flinx knew that he would only know for sure once he killed the Owl Bears and harvested their mana stones. He saw that the two motes of light from the Crown of Stars spell weren’t enough to kill them, so he cast four Magic Missile spells slotted in his 3rd-level slot.

The four Magic Missile spells contained a total of 40 bolts. Flinx made sure that the owl bears would receive 20 glowing bolts each. Even though the Owl Bears were agile, since they had been damaged by the Crown of Stars spell, they were not coherent enough to avoid the bolts from the Magic Missile spells. The missiles finally caused the Owl Bears’ heads to explode.

Flinx flew down towards the Owl Bears’ corpses and started harvesting what he could from the monsters’ bodies. He managed to harvest very large mana stones from each of the Owl Bears’ bodies. He was fairly sure that the mana stones were high-level mana stones. He stored them in his 4^th tab space.

After he was done, he cast the Crown of Stars spell, which also worked as a light spell, and entered the Owl Bears’ abode. He thought that there might be treasure inside. He summoned his familiar first, then both of them entered the cave.

The first thing he saw was the large number of bones that came from different creatures. The bones were a testament to the Owl Bears’ prowess. Unfortunately for them, they met Flinx, who was on a mission to decimate the monsters’ population for the sake of experience points.

He searched the Owl Bears' cave and saw many items that were scattered haphazardly. He wondered how many adventurers the bears had eaten. He stored all of the items that he could in his 4^th tab space and continued moving inside.

At the deepest part of the cave, Flinx saw something amazing. There were a couple of huge eggs. He knew that the eggs were the Owl Bears’ offspring. He tried to store the eggs inside his 4^th tab space, but he wasn’t able to. He received an error message that he was not allowed to store living beings inside his 4^th tab space. That meant that the eggs were alive.

The eggs were as huge as an ostrich egg. He touched them and felt that they were sturdy enough to survive his carrying them. Flinx spent 60 dollars and immediately bought a huge enough backpack to carry the eggs and filled it with enough padding so he could store the eggs inside without damaging them.
