Chapter 71: Ko-chan’s Revenge (1)
By the time we made it to the school, it had been completely transformed. The formerly bright school grounds turned into a forest of ribbons.
When we got to the gates of the school, I saw Matsuko twitch for a second and I got close to her. "What's wrong?"
"...It's nothing. Let's go inside quickly." Matsuko moved to open the gates but a voice projected from inside the school.
"What? Did you not appreciate my greeting gift? Come on, I think it's classy! Just like old times!" Zetsuna's mocking laughter resounded in our minds.
Matsuko grit her teeth. The gates of the school had been "decorated" just like the gates of the mansion were that night, only with students this time.
"We don't have time to save them right now. It's sad but we have to move on." Matsuko swung the gate, and the girl hanging from it in a thick cocoon, opened it and walked in.
"Ah that girl is..." I noticed a girl on the ground in a thick petsuit made of ribbons. I put it out of my mind and moved onward.
As we entered the grounds, we noticed the striking changes around the school. A lot of the foliage and railing was wrapped in ribbon, and there were students hanging from the ceiling from ribbons, tied to railings, or taped into chairs.
"We should find out what happened here..." I flew over to one of the girls taped to a chair by ribbons.
Matsuko's flame cut a line through the girl's muzzle and she pulled it away from her face. "...Vice-president...you came."
"What happened here?" Matsuko didn't have time for small talk.
"...Some girl in a mask appeared in school sometime yesterday. As soon as she landed, she started laughing, and then ribbons erupted from her. They captured everyone in school and bound them to things. Then she started releasing certain people and granting them 'gifts' for their loyalty." The girl recounted the matters that happened the day before.
Matsuko nodded and walked away, but the girl called back "Wait! Can't you free me?"
Matsuko shot a beam of flame that covered the girl's mouth and turned into Flame Tape. "I'll need you to be quiet a bit longer, sorry."
There was almost no one moving around inside except for a few students who were probably the girls freed by Zetsuna. From what they yelled at us as they ran towards us, they were the skeptics from the casino night, who thought Kogamo was fake and a fraud.
These students wore Zetsuna's ribbon collar and leather gear, looking more like dominatrixes than students.
Luckily, the other council members had easy ways to deal with these aggressive students. Naruyo merely looked at them and their time rewound to the previous day, landing them back in their restrictive authentic tutus in an instant.
Hinari swapped them straight into webs of ribbons, or inside lockers that became jammed closed on the spot. Sakari's glance caused their collars to malfunction, triggering the "trap" mode that Naruyo experienced the night before. In a second they were locked in a double cage of metal and glass, experiencing the ministrations of the ribbons inside.
Matsuko didn't even look at them, anyone that got close was instantly engulfed in flame that left them in a Flame Tape cocoon on the ground.
Not all of the skeptic students immediately ran for us though, some were busy harassing the incapacitated normal students. We dealt with them just the same as the others.
"Woah, looks like you came to play for real, huh? Didn't anyone tell you that you are too hot tempered, Matsuko?" Zetsuna's voice taunted the entire way, and it seemed like it was starting to annoy Matsuko.
None of the students that stood in our way slowed us down even a single second, and before long we were in front of the school council room.
* * *
Matsuko reached out and grasped the door, and it burnt to ash in a second.
Inside, Zetsuna was sitting on a throne made of ribbons, stroking a girl in a petsuit that was obviously being stimulated heavily.
"Since I let the last pet get away, I had to get a replacement one. Cute, isn't she?" Zetsuna gave the girl a slap on her ass and she jerked and trembled in response.
"Zetsuna. This was between us, why do all this?" Matsuko started the questioning.
"Why not? I was bored while you were opening my presents, so I had to do something to fill the time. You should be happy that your ancestor was there, or else I would have visited you much earlier." Zetsuna smiled as she started getting back to topics she liked to talk about.
Matsuko grit her teeth and was about to say something else but Hinari stepped forward. "Do you have anything else to say other than the same boring gloating over the previous battle? Hurry up and spit it out or start the fight already."
Zetsuna grit her teeth this time. "How nice of you to be able to recover from such a crushing defeat in just a single day. Some of us were not so lucky and carry the scars to this day! How would you know how I feel?!"
Sakari smirked, "Life goes on. You have to stop living in the past, you know. Are you going to spend the rest of your life chasing Ma-chan around because she made you kneel one time?"
Zetsuna growled lowly "No, I won't. Because after today, you will all be utterly broken pieces of garbage before me."
Naruyo smiled. "Enough talk. Bring out your toys. Commence disassembly."
Zetsuna released a burst of magic that burst the walls and ceiling apart instantly. "Don't regret your impatience."
From outside the room, the same three automatons jumped in and landed with crunches.
* * *
The automatons immediately found their targets and attempted to suppress their opponent.
"Ah, it's this guy again. Well, I won't be distracted that easily this time!" Sakari jumped off to the side to dodge an incoming bullet of ribbon.
"I already emptied my inventory earlier, so you won't be able to ambush me again this time, Zetsuna!" Hinari got ready to fight with the spatial lock automaton.
"You fool, did you think I would try the same trick again? Go! Activate your field!" She commanded the automaton with a snap of her fingers.
This time, the spatial lock field device in the automaton's center spun up drastically faster and in seconds, the field was complete.
"Now what? Even if you've gained a little more power, you can't use it at all!" Zetsuna laughed mockingly from her throne.
Hinari fought the automaton for a few more blows, but then jumped away. "Ah. There's a problem with your plan. Your field only blocks things from entering or leaving this area."
Zetsuna frowned. "What are you, an idiot? What are you gonna do without sticking the thing in your inventory first?"
Hinari laughed. "It seems like your understanding of spatial magic is a bit narrow. Let me expand your horizons."
She lifted her hand and pointed at the automaton. "[Power of Space]" In the blink of an eye, she was holding a small glowing core of some kind. The cords hanging down off of it were sparking and crackling.
The automaton took another two steps before crumpling to the ground and crackling loudly. The spatial lock field generator slowed and stopped as the entire automaton shut down.
Zetsuna shot to her feet. "What!? You can't!"
Hinari tossed the core a few times. "Can't what? You can have this back now, by the way." She tossed it to the ground in front of Zetsuna.
"No way! I was sure I would be the first to win!" Sakari walked towards Hinari, leaving an automaton slowly exploding from various parts of itself.
Naruyo frowned. "Last Place. More training required." She was standing on top of an automaton that was quickly rusting and disintegrating.
Zetsuna's eyes twitched as she stomped her foot. "Do you have any idea how expensive those were?! You'll pay for breaking them!"
Her ribbon wings erupted from her back, and her power flared up as she entered full battle mode.
Zetsuna's eyes seem to be filled with madness. "Well, since you broke them, I don't mind showing you their final trick." She leans down and picks up the core Hinari tossed at her.
"Thank you for this. You made it so easy for me." Zetsuna laughed and held it up and it began to glow. In a blink, the other two cores appeared in her hands as well.
"No! Run!" I noticed that the core in her hand seemed to be emitting a huge amount of energy and shouted to the other members, but it was too late for them to escape
"Now, freeze." The core from Naruyo's automaton glowed, and then all three girls shrieked at once. They were forced to their knees as their arms were wrenched behind them and their legs were frogtied. Their last cries were cut off as their mouths snapped shut. Their bodies became completely rigid except for their eyes.
"Ha ha~ so even the owner of the law can't resist its power!" Zetsuna laughed mockingly as the Power of Time locked Hinari, Sakari, and Naruyo in place completely.
Matsuko took a few steps forward to enter the fight, but the spatial core lit up and a barrier formed that blocked off the center of the room from her.
"I'll deal with you in a second, for now, just watch me make you a few more packages to unwrap." Zetsuna grinned ferociously and all three cores lit up again.
Matsuko was spewing flame at the barrier trying to break it, but it didn't seem to be having much of an effect.
The three girls disappeared and reappeared with their backs against exposed girders rising out of the walls of the building. From elsewhere in the school, huge mountains of ribbons appear all around them, instantly tightening into thick cocoons of ribbons.
I shrieked across the room, yelling their names, but all they could do was stare back, terrified. The barrier that stopped Matsuko easily stopped me as well, and so I had to stop and watch my friends be defeated a second time in two days while I had no way to help.
The sound of rhythmic thumping resounded across the room and I prepared for the worst. Zetsuna laughed as if to declare her victory. "And now, just to make sure you don't accidentally free yourselves from my trap, Sakari's power will cause your powers to fail until you manage to slowly whittle it down to nothing. Of course, you have no chance to do that quickly, since she used so much of it to destroy my dear robot~"
With a crack, the barrier started to crumble, and with a few more punches, it completely fell apart.
"It's too late. I've already finished my task. It'll take at least as long as last time to free them from this many ribbons." Zetsuna dropped the empty cores to the ground. "A shame though, if they had used more magic to destroy my automatons, I would have had enough to use on you too."
"Zetsuna! This ends here!" Matsuko erupted into flame and began a close range brawl with Zetsuna.
