Chapter 167 A Good Boss
"Relax…you make it sound like I'm going to send you to a war zone." Lucas chuckled as he looked at their nervous expressions.
He then looked back at Satomi and answered seriously. "I need you and your pack to act as my eyes, to be in every corner of Beacon Hills and tell me if there's a shapeshifter hiding or one that just came."
Every werewolf is better than almost any human at detection and tracking, and he couldn't let the advantage of a pack of around twenty members go to waste.
Of course, this wasn't the only reason, but they didn't have to know all now.
Satomi squinted her eyes as she gazed at him then relaxed, although something felt weird, she didn't feel that he was lying. "Basically thugs…"
"Thugs?" He liked the term, but it was too barbaric, he then shook his head. "Thugs don't have a salary."
"Salary…?" Satomi gazed at him with confusion.
"Of course, I'll pay them each $30,000 a year." He didn't take control of the pack so that he could exploit them for free.
So he was going to exploit them, and pay them, it seems correct and reasonable. Lucas didn't feel bad about the money, it was meant to be used.
Once the members of the pack began to have a much more comfortable life working under him, then Satomi's control over them would slowly fade.
Satomi and her pack looked at each other, most of them were shocked. Now it looked more like Lucas just beat them down, so that he could hire them with better benefits.
That amount of money was beyond the minimum wage, even in big cities this amount wasn't bad, and most importantly most of them didn't have a stable job.
Seeing their reaction Lucas smiled, using just force was a brute's way, but using both force and a carrot, that was the right combination.
"Well, we must go now." Lucas gave Satomi a nod, then he gestured to Allison and Lydia.
Then they started walking away, Malia, still eating and not paying attention to the surroundings, was suddenly grabbed by the collar and dragged to the car.
"Hey! I didn't finish!" She then growled at Lucas with an annoyed look.
He just raised his palm in the form of a knife and she shivered and went silent.
When they entered the car, Lydia looked at him and spoke. "Aren't you worried that you'll become broke?"
"No." He shook his head confidently as he remembered that it was almost time to trade again, and this time he would make even more money.

The next morning they all came early to school, but a surprising sight caught their attention.
The coach with a beaming smile on his face was carrying large boxes with other lacrosse players, you could practically see the happiness plastered across their faces.
Allison squinted her eyes and then turned toward the others. "Could it be drugs?"
Lydia didn't pay much attention while Malia sniffed and shook her head.
Seeing her then looking at him, Lucas shook his head. "Don't worry, it's not like we play lacrosse."
Suddenly he saw Stiles running towards them, when he arrived in front of them you could finally see something wrong.
The usual expression of exhaustion wasn't on his face anymore.
Stiles looked at the girls then at Lucas. "Can we talk?"
Lucas glanced at him in surprise, then he turned towards the girls. "See you later."
He then entered the classroom to their right followed by Stiles. "So what's up?"
Stiles looked around in embarrassment and clenched his fist a few times, then as if he had made up his mind he spoke. "Were you serious about the job offer?"
Lucas glanced at him as if he had mental problems, "Of course, but if you want you can work for me for free."
Stiles' face lit up and he wisely ignored the second part. "Then what's my job?"
"Hmm…" Lucas scanned him thoughtfully, strangely they still hadn't found out what kind of shapeshifter he became.
Besides, he didn't think of what he could do, then suddenly he thought of Satomi's pack, he could make Stiles supervise them since he trusted him.
"I will tell you later, we have to go to class now."
Stiles nodded, just as they were about to exit the room Lucas' phone suddenly rang.
"Go on, I have some business."
Stiles glanced curiously at his phone then left.
After watching him leave, Lucas looked down and saw that John was the one calling. "How's the trip?"
Then John's voice came from the other side. "Not bad, we found one person that matches your requirements."
"But?"
John stopped speaking for a moment then he continued.
