One Piece : Start As Celestial Dragon And Take Down Hancock

Chapter 102: Warm welcome (R-18)

As both ships docked at the bustling port of Alabasta, Vice Admiral Kizaru disembarked first, accompanied by a contingent of marines.

They moved swiftly, forming a secure perimeter—though such measures were hardly necessary given that Saint Lakeman, still aboard his luxurious cruise ship, was far more powerful than any of them.

Stepping onto the dimly lit dock, Kizaru adjusted his coat casually and was greeted by King Cobra, who stood with his entourage in regal attire. The king's warm demeanor reflected his respect for the Marine officer.

"Good evening, General Kizaru," Cobra said with a gracious smile, extending his hand.

"Good evening, Your Majesty Cobra," Kizaru replied, shaking the king's hand. His tone was polite but tinged with a trace of his usual laid-back demeanor. "Though I must correct you—I'm still an alternate admiral. Not quite a full admiral yet."

Cobra chuckled, his eyes twinkling with humor. "Ah, no need to downplay your accomplishments, Mr. Borsalino. We all know it's just a matter of time before you take on the full title. Consider this practice for the honorifics you'll soon grow accustomed to."

Kizaru offered a faint, wry smile but said nothing. Cobra, seemingly pleased with himself, leaned in slightly as though sharing a secret.

"At last year's Reverie, Fleet Admiral Sengoku spoke highly of you to the Five Elders. They agreed that you and Sakazuki would ascend to admiral ranks within two years. They simply wanted to give you both time to accrue even more distinguished service. A formality, really."

"Is that so?" Kizaru responded with a characteristic nonchalance, though there was a flicker of acknowledgment in his sharp eyes. "I suppose accumulating merits keeps the job interesting."

As their conversation meandered from naval accomplishments to Alabasta's recent developments, a voice cut through the air—a mix of curiosity and impatience.

"And what of Saint Lakeman? Why hasn't he come down yet?" Queen Titi asked, stepping forward with a graceful yet firm demeanor. Her elegant attire and poised presence added weight to her words.
