Chapter 49: Sengoku’s Surprise, Rayleigh’s Silence
Although they hadn't spent much time together, Kizaru could sense that Lakeman was not a bloodthirsty person. He wasn't like those moody Celestial Dragons who took pleasure in killing. Lakeman was rational and calm.
But what could have happened that led Lakeman to execute twenty-three people in one go? And those twenty-three people looked like they were no ordinary individuals!
"I need to report this to the Marshal," Kizaru thought solemnly.
He took out his phone and dialed Marshal Sengoku. He did not act without permission, instead choosing to discreetly report to his immediate superior. As a marine who clocks in for a salary, Kizaru knew how to protect himself. It was better to accomplish nothing than to make mistakes.
The call was answered quickly. Kizaru recounted what he had discovered.

After hearing this, Sengoku's expression became extremely serious. "You are right. Don't act without authorization. I will have someone go check it out."
"Yes," Kizaru responded. The phone call ended, and Sengoku immediately sent people to investigate what happened on the Sabaody Archipelago. Although the Marines lacked control over the Sabaody Archipelago, they had conducted investigations and research on the forces on the island.
As soon as Sengoku's order was issued, the Marine branch on the Sabaody Archipelago took action. Not long after, shocking news came back to him.
"The auction in Area 1 was taken over by the World Government?" Sengoku felt incredulous at the news. Normally, the World Government didn't concern itself with the affairs on the Sabaody Archipelago unless the Celestial Dragons were involved.
"What happened?" Sengoku frowned, extremely confused.
