Chapter 330 - 329: Wood Attribute Heavenly and Earthly Treasures
Shii Tangyu looked at the man’s corpse and said cruelly, "You thought you could compete with me for this Soul-Sealing Grass?"
Only then did the crowd see Shii Tangyu clutching a stalk of grass in his palm, a plant as vibrant and red as blood. It emanated an incredibly powerful aura. It was clear the two had discovered the Soul-Sealing Grass simultaneously, leading to a conflict.
Soul-Sealing Grass was a medicinal herb capable of strengthening the body. As a Junior-Level Emperor Grade herb, it was considered exceptionally precious.
Watching Shii Tangyu kill someone over a single Soul-Sealing Grass right after they arrived, the crowd was scared into silence. Combined with the tomb’s cold, gloomy atmosphere, even though they were all masters of the Yin-Yang Realm, fear began to creep into their hearts.
After killing the man, Shii Tangyu shot a harsh glare at Wen Qingye, who stood a short distance away. A flash of sharp killing intent crossed his eyes.
’He wants to kill me?’ Wen Qingye remained expressionless, but a cold sneer formed in his mind.
The crowd began to look around. Their surroundings were pitch-dark. They were in a stone corridor, and on the walls on either side, small stone platforms protruded every hundred meters. In the center of each platform sat a candle as thick as a child’s arm, its ghostly flame wavering, sometimes dim, sometimes bright.
Fang Yu asked in confusion, "Why are the flames suddenly flaring up? How strange."
Hearing Fang Yu’s words, everyone tensed up and raised their guard.
Wen Qingye glanced at the flames and understood at once. ’The candles are burning by feeding on the vitality of our bodies. When we all rushed in just now, the massive surge of life force made them flare up.’
The corridor ahead slowly forked into three separate paths, each stretching into the distance until it was lost from sight.
Liu Xuan gazed at the three paths, mulled it over for a moment, then said slowly, "In my view, all three of these paths likely hold either danger or treasure. Why don’t we split up?"
Upon hearing this, a hint of eagerness appeared in Shii Tangyu’s eyes. "Good," he said. "I was thinking the same thing."
Tang Rui also nodded. ’Experts are a dime a dozen here, and many are concealing their true cultivation. If a treasure appears, it’s guaranteed to be a bitter fight. Splitting up might not be a bad thing.’
"Alright, let’s go our separate ways then."
With that, Liu Xuan headed down the left corridor, with Youx Dong following close behind.
Seeing this, most of the Martial Artists followed them. In their minds, sticking with Liu Xuan offered some measure of security.
"I’ll take the middle path, then." Shii Tangyu glanced at Wen Qingye and sneered inwardly. ’An insignificant ant. The moment I claim this tomb’s treasure will be the moment you die.’
As he spoke, Shii Tangyu started toward the middle corridor. But just as he moved, a figure shot past him, one step ahead, rushing down the same path.
"Tang Rui!" Shii Tangyu’s pupils constricted as he roared.
Tang Rui also had his eye on the middle corridor and certainly wasn’t about to let Shii Tangyu get a head start. Cunning and opportunistic, Tang Rui had seen Shii Tangyu’s intention and beat him to the punch.
"Damn it!" Shii Tangyu snapped, his body blurring as he shot forward in pursuit.
Seeing the two of them vying for the middle corridor, many of the other Martial Artists exchanged glances before deciding to follow them down that path as well.
In an instant, only a few people remained.
The short, elderly man from the Heaven-Burying Sect walked up to Wen Qingye. "Boy, I know your Swordsmanship is decent, but your strength..." He snorted coldly. "It’s still pathetic."
With that, the old man turned and headed down the right corridor.
Fang Yu watched the old man leave, baffled. He turned to Wen Qingye and asked, "Brother Wen, does that old man know you? Why would he talk to you like that?"
Wen Qingye shook his head with a smile. "He probably mistook me for someone else."
Just then, the woman in black swayed gracefully to Wen Qingye’s side and smiled. "Well, aren’t you a handsome one. You carry yourself quite well, too. It’s just a shame your cultivation is so low."
After saying her piece, the woman in black also headed down the right corridor. The remaining seven or eight Martial Artists followed suit.
Soon, only Wen Qingye and Fang Yu were left in that part of the tomb.
Fang Yu looked at Wen Qingye. "Brother Wen, which way should we go?"
For reasons he couldn’t explain, Fang Yu felt a deep-seated, instinctual trust in Wen Qingye, believing him to be anything but ordinary.
Wen Qingye’s eyes suddenly flashed, emitting a brilliant, dazzling light that was exceptionally bright in the dim tomb.
After a moment, the light in Wen Qingye’s eyes subsided. He pointed to the right corridor and said with a smile, "We’ll go this way."
Fang Yu nodded without the slightest hesitation.
The gloomy surroundings didn’t intimidate the pair as they started down the corridor.
Wen Qingye had his reasons for choosing the right corridor. He had just used his Spirit Communication Eye to observe the three paths and had discovered that the rightmost one was slightly different from the others.
The left corridor emanated a sharp, murderous aura; Wen Qingye was almost certain a weapon lay within. He couldn’t see into the middle corridor, as if something was obscuring his vision, but his intuition screamed that it was exceedingly dangerous. There was no need to risk his life testing that theory.
The rightmost corridor, however, gave off a profound and vigorous aura. Through his Spirit Communication Eye, Wen Qingye thought he could see a pool of green, vibrant life.
This was exactly the kind of Wood Attribute Heavenly and Earthly Treasure he currently needed most.
Wen Qingye and Fang Yu headed down the right corridor. After several hundred meters, Wen Qingye suddenly sensed danger ahead.
Suddenly, three figures leaped out. They were three of the Martial Artists who had taken this path earlier: two experts at the Yin Yang Realm Seventh Layer Heaven and one at the Yin Yang Realm Eighth Layer Heaven. The trio stared at Wen Qingye and Fang Yu with ferocious intent.
Fang Yu’s brow furrowed. "What do you think you’re doing?" he demanded.
"Doing? Heh heh." The man at the Yin Yang Realm Eighth Layer Heaven sneered. "I’ve had my eye on you two boys for a while. Especially you, little Daoist. That Jade Pendant at your waist... it must be a decent Defensive Spiritual Artifact, right?"
Liu Xuan had invited a wide array of experts to explore the tomb. It was a motley crew, and no one truly knew anyone else’s background or intentions.
Fang Yu froze at the man’s words, then nodded. "It’s a Low-Level Emperor Grade Magical Artifact. It’s not that good, is it?"
"Low-Level Emperor Grade?" The three men’s eyes filled with intense greed upon hearing Fang Yu’s words.
"I’ll handle the little Daoist! You two, take care of the swordsman next to him!" the leader at the Yin Yang Realm Eighth Layer Heaven roared, charging directly at Fang Yu.
