73. Something Can Always Happen
“And so, the heated battles have continued, but only one match remains for today’s event. The final match! What kind of result awaits us?!”
Time had passed since Rabi’s match ended. Newa and Ulka’s matches had already concluded as well.
Both matches ended in victory for the female fighters, and unlike Rabi’s, there was no Enjoyment Time.
That said, during Newa’s match there was a lucky moment where her bare breasts were revealed, which I personally enjoyed. Not only were her breasts large, but her nipples were also bigger than average. The thought of breast milk possibly spraying from them made my cock harden again.
Despite that, Newa still won. Ulka’s match, on the other hand, turned into a completely one-sided affair.
The only match left was against Miarant — the number one fighter of the Mad Banquet Fight.
Judging from Ulka’s match, it didn’t seem like we could expect an Enjoyment Time with Miarant, but the heat and excitement in the venue showed no signs of cooling down.
“I wasn’t expecting much, but today was a bust too, huh.”
Before the upcoming Miarant match, the man next to me grumbled.
This was my first Mad Banquet Fight, but for the man beside me it was one of many. He must have seen this kind of outcome many times before.
Even though the result was predictable, he had still come here hoping something would happen. I couldn’t help feeling a bit of sympathy for him now that those expectations had been crushed.
Watching it purely as pro-wrestling entertainment was still fun, but the excitement and sense of unreality I felt during Rabi’s match were irreplaceable.
“I hope something happens in the next match.”
I said it from the heart, not just out of sympathy, but the man next to me suddenly burst out laughing.
“Something, huh? Hehehe… Something can always be made to happen if you want it to.”
“Huh?”
Right after the man’s meaningful remark, a loud noise and smoke appeared as Miarant made her entrance.
Her dignified stance radiated the presence of an absolute queen.
Every step she took toward the ring was more graceful and confident than any of the other female fighters.
The man next to me had said something was going to happen, but just by looking at her, it felt like no matter what occurred, she would be fine.
Miarant stepped into the ring, and finally her opponent was announced.
“We will now read the numbers! First: 3333! Next: 11111! And finally: 777!”
The three numbers called were all repeating digits. Whether by coincidence or design, they were all lucky-looking numbers.
Repeating numbers tended to feel auspicious, and it seemed this world had a similar sentiment.
Whether by chance or fate, the three men bearing these repeating numbers appeared below the ring.
“No way…”
Even to an amateur like me, the three challengers who appeared were clearly skilled veterans.
One was a skinhead human covered in scars. The second was a beastman with an eyepatch over his left eye. The third was a rhino demi-human with a magnificent horn on his nose.
Every challenger easily surpassed me in height, and their bodies were those of true warriors. Even with light clothing, the muscular “armor” beneath could not be hidden.
“Today, I’ll finally get to see it… Your figure overflowing with humiliation…”
While I was focused on the challengers who had appeared, the man next to me wore that eerie smile again as he stared at Miarant in the ring.
—-
“And now, we will begin the three-minute thinking ti—”
“That won’t be necessary.”
The skinhead man interrupted the announcer and stepped into the ring.
Not only the skinhead, but the other two men also climbed up after him.
“Ehh, so it’s fine for all three of you to fight at once?”
“Yeah.”
The male challengers stood side by side, facing Miarant directly.
As the two sides stared each other down, the announcer gave the signal to start the match.
“Match start!”
The moment the match began, the challengers did not immediately rush at Miarant. Instead, the three men spread out to surround her, each measuring their distance.
The overhead monitor showed Miarant’s still-relaxed expression and the sharp, gleaming gazes of the men.
In Rabi’s match and Newa’s match, there had been time limits, but Ulka’s match had none. Similarly, no time limit was displayed for Miarant’s match.
In other words, time was unlimited.
Simply put, since the female fighter faced up to three opponents alone, dragging the fight into a battle of endurance should favor the challengers.
According to the man next to me, if there was a time limit and the match wasn’t decided within it, the female fighter would win by default.
At first glance, it seemed pointless for the female fighters to choose no time limit, but the fight money they received changed depending on whether they set a time limit or not.
Naturally, choosing no time limit earned them more fight money, while setting one earned less.
Female fighters received a percentage of both their base appearance fee and the nomination fees from spectators on the day of the match, regardless of victory or defeat. That percentage was tied to the time limit.
Additionally, the Enjoyment Time after a loss also had a time limit, which further affected the percentage of nomination fees paid out.
Rabi had thirty minutes each for the match and Enjoyment Time. Newa had double that. Ulka had unlimited match time but thirty minutes of Enjoyment Time.
And now, the Miarant fighting right in front of us had chosen unlimited time for both the match and Enjoyment Time.
It was a choice that could only be made by someone with absolute confidence in her own strength.
About a minute had passed since the match started, yet the challengers and Miarant still hadn’t made contact.
They were simply engaged in a slow, positioning game.
Even though the challengers were securing advantageous positions, Miarant remained motionless.
“Hey, you. Do you know why Miarant isn’t moving?”
“Huh? W-well… Is it because she’s confident like a queen?”
“Queen’s confidence, huh. That’s part of it, sure. But that’s not the reason.”
The man who had been explaining so many things to me spoke without any hesitation. His words were filled with confidence, as if everything he said was absolute truth.
“She can’t move. Not against the coordination of these men.”
“Coordination?”
Now that he mentioned it, while looking at Miarant, the men occasionally exchanged glances with each other.
It was slightly different from the previous matches.
The other matches had felt more self-centered. In Rabi’s fight, some had challenged her alone. In Newa and Ulka’s matches, three had attacked together like now, but they had rushed in all at once, often getting in each other’s way.
But here, that wasn’t happening at all. The challengers were constantly aware of each other’s positions.
“Those guys are adventurers. Veteran ones at that.”
“Heeh…”
That much was obvious just by looking. No one but adventurers would have bodies and scars like those.
But right now, there was something else I wanted to ask.
“Um, if I’m wrong, that’s fine, but can I ask one thing?”
“What?”
“Did those guys just happen to be matched up together today by coincidence?”
“…What else would it be?”
Our eyes met. His gaze had always felt eerie, but now it was even more dangerous.
Depending on my answer, my future might change drastically. I could feel it.
There was no doubt about it. These challengers were assassins this man had arranged for Miarant.
“No, it was just my imagination. They all had repeating numbers, so I just thought…”
“I see. Then that’s fine. More importantly, let’s watch the match. It’s about to start.”
Some time after the match began, the eyepatch-wearing beastman and the rhino demi-human positioned themselves behind Miarant on her left and right, while the skinhead man stood directly in front of her.
The two in the back were positioned just outside the edge of Miarant’s field of vision. If she turned to face one, the other would almost certainly disappear from her sight.
They were probably deliberately standing where she could barely see them, to keep her on guard.
Even though the gong had already sounded, the battle that had been at a standstill began moving again as the challengers acted in perfect coordination.
