The moon loomed full and blood-tinted over the forest. Wind rustled through the broken trees of Aethermoor, carrying with it a strange scent—one that made Eren freeze mid-step.
Leo's eyes narrowed. "That smell... it's not natural."
Selene stood behind Cain, her fingers curled around the pendant at her throat. Her heart thudded heavily in her chest, and her powers stirred uneasily beneath her skin.
Then came the cold.
Not just the chill of wind or night—but a sudden, soul-deep cold, as if the air had forgotten warmth altogether.
And from that cold... came her.
She stepped out from between the trees, her boots silent on the blackened ground. Her hair was a cascade of dark silver now, her skin pale like snow, and her once-bright eyes were void-black, empty but burning. An eerie smile curved her lips.

Cain's breath hitched. "Eira?"
