Chapter 167: Enough
Andrew stood atop wreckage shouting commands.
"...LEFT!"
"Don't let the bastards through!"
A squad of soldiers immediately shifted formation.
Another demon climbed over the broken barricade.
Andrew sighed.
"...Seriously?"
He jumped.
His scythe swept across the demon's neck.
The head spun through the air.
Before it even landed—
A horned monster charged.
Andrew caught its face.
Lifted it.
Then slammed it into the pavement hard enough to crack the stone.
"...I'm trying to command here."
"You guys are making it difficult."
A nearby soldier shouted,
"Captain!"
"What do we do next?!"
Andrew opened his mouth—
Only for another hybrid to burst through a nearby house.
"...Can I finish one sentence?"
The hybrid lunged.
Andrew buried his scythe into its chest.
Twisted.
Pulled.
The corpse hit the ground.
He pointed toward the nearest lieutenant.
"You."
"You lead."
The lieutenant blinked.
"...Me?"
"Congratulations."
"You've been promoted."
Before the poor man could protest—
Andrew was already gone.
He sprinted across the battlefield.
One glance was enough.
"...Huh."
"These weird demon monster human like hybrids..."
"...There's barely any left."
He counted instinctively.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
"...Five."
"...Good."
He changed direction.
A demon tried intercepting him.
Its jaw exploded beneath Andrew's fist.
Another monster jumped from a rooftop.
Andrew threw his scythe.
The blade spun once.
Twice.
Three times.
The monster split apart.
He caught the returning weapon without slowing down.
One hybrid.
Dead.
Another.
Dead.
A third attempted to flee.
Andrew grabbed its leg.
Swung it into two demons.
Then crushed its skull beneath his boot.
"...Three left."
Minutes later—
The last hybrid collapsed.
Andrew pulled his scythe free.
"...Finally."
A faint movement appeared behind him.
A cultist.
Blade raised.
Andrew didn't even turn.
Before the blade descended—
Bang.
The cultist's head exploded.
Andrew blinked.
"...Hoh?"
Then grinned.
"...I knew that attack was coming, by the way."
He turned toward the source of the gunshot.
A man stood atop the remains of a broken wagon.
Long black coat.
Crimson suit.
Wide-brimmed hat.
Two pistols.
Completely still.
Andrew immediately spun his scythe into position.
His free hand rested on his holstered pistol.
"...You don't look too much of a friendly."
The stranger wasn't offended.
"If I were your enemy..."
"...You'd already be dead."
"You should thank—"
Bang.
Andrew fired.
The bullet flew past the stranger's shoulder.
A demon behind him collapsed instantly.
Andrew holstered the pistol.
"...We're even."
The stranger slowly looked toward the dead demon.
Then back at Andrew.
A faint smile appeared.
Andrew jerked his thumb toward the western gate.
"...West gate."
"...Let's go."
Neither waited.
Both dashed simultaneously.
The battlefield became their hunting ground.
Andrew charged straight through the center.
His scythe carved a wide path through monsters.
His fists shattered bones.
Every throw returned perfectly into his hand.
Meanwhile—
The stranger fought with surgical precision.
Every trigger pull.
One corpse.
Cultists chanting—
Bang.
Dead before finishing the spell.
Demons leaping—
Bang.
Eyes pierced.
Monsters hiding behind allies—
Bang.
The bullet somehow found them anyway.
Andrew laughed.
"...You're pretty good."
No reply.
Andrew launched his scythe.
It buried itself inside a giant demon.
Instead of retrieving it—
He drew his pistol.
Bang.
Bang.
Two cultists fell.
He caught the returning scythe one-handed.
"...Nice."
The stranger simply kept shooting.
Reloading.
Advancing.
Never wasting movement.
Andrew glanced sideways.
"...How many bullets ya got?"
Silence.
Another shot echoed.
Bang.
A chanting cultist collapsed halfway through the incantation.
Only then did the stranger answer.
"...Enough."
Andrew snorted.
"...Enough of what?"
He grabbed a charging demon by one horn.
Spun once.
Then hurled it across the street.
The flying corpse smashed into a squad struggling against a monster.
All three creatures disappeared beneath the impact.
The stranger calmly raised one pistol.
"...Enough..."
"...to kill everything here."
Bang.
A cultist dropped.
"...And you."
Bang.
A massive blue-skinned demon took a bullet straight through its forehead.
The creature staggered.
But remained standing.
Andrew raised an eyebrow.
"...See?"
He dashed forward.
The blue demon roared.
Its fist descended.
Andrew slipped underneath it.
One clean slash.
The glowing core inside its chest split apart.
The giant collapsed.
Andrew rested his scythe across one shoulder.
"...Ya know..."
"...You should finish off your prey."
For the first time—
The stranger's smile changed.
Slightly.
Not quite annoyed.
Not quite amused.
Something in between.
Without another word—
The two resumed cutting through the battlefield.
One fought with overwhelming brutality.
The other with flawless precision.
Neither knew the other's name.
Yet wherever they walked—
Demons.
Monsters.
And cultists...
Simply ceased to exist.
