Chapter 83: Mutai
Mutai lifted his giant axe up.
Ground qi engulfed it as he slammed the axe into the ground with full strength.
Thud.
The ground trembled, and the dust rose. Cracks began at the point of impact, then spread outward.
For a moment, the dust obstructed everyone's vision.
But Mutai did not stop. His late Core Formation aura erupted as he covered his legs with Ground qi.
He crouched, the cracks kept on increasing and then he jumped up as the ground beneath trembled again.
In the air, the axe swept through one of the attackers, severing the attacker's head, and then he landed on the wooden building next to the Shin Commander, but at the moment his feet touched the second floor, the wooden floor burst apart. He reacted instantly and grabbed the Shin Commander.
The floor continued to collapse, wooden debris flying around them until both of them crashed onto the ground floor.
Within the rubble and dust, Mutai grabbed the enemy commander by the collar and lifted him up.
"That's quite a brute strength you have got," The enemy Commander said as he smiled.
"But are you sure, you want to fight with me while ignoring your Master?" He said.
"I don't have to worry about Sir Chu Feng, his ways are something you can never grasp, " Mutai replied.
At the same time, outside the building, the dust no longer obstructed the vision.
The twenty black-clad men looked ahead, Chu Feng was gone. Only the man carrying the large shield remained.
Everyone turned towards Yan.
"Where is Chu Feng? " One of them shouted.
"He went there, " Yan pointed his finger towards the people who gathered to witness the commotion.
"Why is he pointing his finger here?" The people who noticed Yan pointing his finger at them murmured.
Then they saw the one black-clad man looking towards them first, then others followed. Unknowingly, some took a step back, then they saw the black man, who looked at them first, turn towards Yan again.
The man shouted again, "Do you take me for a fool?"
"Yes," Yan replied.
The other black-clad men nearby him chuckled, the man glared at Yan and shouted, "Damn you!"
A late-stage Spiritual Qi Foundation aura broke around him as he lunged towards Yan.
The others then heard the sound of wood shattering continuously behind them. They glanced back as multiple cuts of wind tore through the wooden walls. Debris and small wooden fragments burst outward in all directions, like a giant air bubble suddenly popping.
The tiny wooden particles and debris fell on their heads and the street.
Inside the building, the commander burst out with late-stage core formation aura as well, as the air gathered around him, compressed and burst out pushing Mutai a few steps back.
Mutai did not back down, he lunged back carrying his ground reinforced giant axe. The axe collided with the Commander's wind qi reinforced sword, a burst of wind exploded outward shattering the already cracked wood.
The Commander's sword came down from above. Mutai raised his axe and swung upward from below.
Tung
The impact sent wind bursting upward, forcing the Commander's sword back. But Mutai's axe didn't stop.
Tung
The sword was pushed to the right side, the commander reinforced his sword with more wind qi.
Tung
Tung
Tung
But every exchange still pushed him backwards, the wind moved wildly breaking wood wherever it touched.

The other two core formation cultivators who were outside looked over. Seeing their commander at a disadvantage, they immediately rushed to aid.
One raised his sword it turned fiery red with fire qi and the other raised his sword and turned it heavy with ground qi.
The Commander also raised his sword, the wind around its blade rotating violently.
When the three swords collided with the giant axe, fire and wind burst outward on all sides, instantly igniting the whole building as flames rose, and swallowed the whole building.
Within the flames and the smoke, three shadows still moved.
Mutai surrounded himself with ground qi which protected him from the flames, the Commander's wind qi on his body continuously pushed the flames aside, the fire cultivator protected himself with fire qi, and the ground cultivator protected himself with ground qi.
Right then, Mutai burst through the smoke and appeared in front of the ground cultivator, who was still wielding his sword. The enemy reacted.
Tung
Mutai swung his axe, their weapons collided but the impact slammed the ground cultivator through the flames to the outside of the building.
The ground cultivator reacted and pierced his sword into the cracked ground, and was still pushed back a few more steps before stopping.
Then he looked at the flames and then to the right side.
And he saw a man wielding the shield.
Yan lifted the shield up and clashed with the sword of the late Qi Foundation black man.
Clang, Clang, Clang.
He effortlessly blocked every strike of his.
"Damn he is not ordinary" the black man shouted, "Everyone, help me".
The eighteen foundation cultivators moved together at Yan.
Yan took a deep breath through his mouth and raised his shield. He didn't wait for the enemy to reach him. Instead, he put the shield in front of him and charged straight through them.
"Fuck!" one cursed as his hand broke when it collided with the shield.
Another one was hit on the head.
"Move away," someone shouted.
Before they could get out of the way, Yan's charge had already left several of them injured.
Then Yan sensed the gaze of the ground core formation cultivator.
The next second, the cultivator was already standing behind him. Yan tried to turn, but it was too late.
Qi-infused punch slammed into his shoulder. The force drove him into his own shield before he crashed face-first onto the ground.
"Fascinating."
The man walked towards Yan, grabbed his neck from behind and lifted him up.
"You are a ground and a body cultivator, aren't you?"
Yan channelled his ground qi to his body, but the qi of the enemy overpowered his as the man bent, and then slammed Yan onto his knee.
Yan felt his head hit hard, he tried to remain conscious.
The man hit Yan to his knees again, Yan's vision spun as he lost consciousness.
"Even after taking my blows with infused qi, you did not die but were just injured"
"You are dangerous if I just let down my guard and qi" the man raised his sword and brought it down towards Yan.
But right then, a giant axe burst out of the flames and cleaved through half of his upper body just below the shoulders.
The man staggered back, and turned towards the burning building for a second before collapsing on the ground.
Inside the building.
"Did you just throw away your weapon? " Commander of Shin roared.
"Are you kidding me?"
He raised his sword. Wind qi gathered around the blade, pulling the surrounding flames into it
"Die," he slid the sword down at Mutai.
"I don't need the weapon," Mutai said as the ground qi gathered around his body, then he kicked the ground. Cracks formed underneath his legs as he jumped up pushing the commander back several steps, his figure smashed through the burning roof into the air and made a hole.
Immediately, air grew heavy beneath Mutai as the Commander immediately followed, wind qi surging around his body. The flames below were caught in the raging wind, twisting upward before bursting through the broken roof in a torrent of fire.
From above, the already-burning roof glowed an intense crimson as the heat grew hotter. Then it burst apart, hot wind carrying flames, thick smoke, and fragments of charcoal blasting toward the sky.
At its centre, the Commander's silhouette stood amid the flames.
Before the Commander could react, Mutai drove his fist forward, ground qi surging around his arm.
BOOM!
The punch struck the Commander head-on and sent him flying into the adjacent building.
Then Mutai fell back into the burning building, the half collapsed black wooden building, and started collapsing further as flames began to subside.
The fire cultivator inside the building saw Mutai's shadow through the flames.
"Monster..." He muttered and immediately, ran outside.
Mutai followed behind him with a jump and arrived outside, landed just behind Yan and in front of the dead cultivator carrying the axe
Mutai's landing made the ground tremble again. Dust rose, and cracks deepened, obscuring the vision of the Foundation cultivators surrounding Yan.
Their Instinct told them to run, but it was too late.
An Axe swept in every direction and cut through their necks in an instant.
Then he looked up.
The Shin Commander already rose up from the building but he was fleeing in air.
"Hmph" Mutai snorted. His axe reinforced with ground qi and with all of his strength, he threw it into the air.
The axe flew through the air. The Wind cultivator sensed the danger behind him and gathered more Wind qi around his body, forming a shield.
The axe collided with the wind qi, but it stopped only for a few moments, before piercing through, and hit the back of the commander.
Blood sprayed in the air as the commander dropped down like a rock.
Mutai tried to look for the fire cultivator but it looked like he escaped.
"Mutai, good work," then a voice came, Yan looked over to find Chu Feng walking out from the neighbourhood building the same one where the commander crashed.
"The collapse almost killed me," Chu Feng said.
Mutai looked at Chu Feng, and bowed, " That was my mistake sir."
"Today, we won although a fire lizard escaped."
"Don't worry about it," Chu Feng said.
"Yes, sir," Mutai replied while still keeping his head down.
"It's time to return to the mansion. Bring that guy along, " Chu Feng said and started walking forward.
The crowd saw only a man walking towards them as the building still burnt with flames, and the building next to it was half collapsed.
They instinctively bowed and gave way.
Behind Chu Feng, Mutai carried Yan in his arms and the shield on his shoulder.
When Mutai arrived in front of the crowd, he shouted, "Did you see how the fire lizard escaped?"
