Naruto: Might Guy's Path to Invincibility

Chapter 80 CHAPTER 80

Might Guy did not know how long he had been unconscious.

When he slowly opened his eyes again, the first thing he saw was the gray ceiling of a medical tent.

"You're awake?"

A pleasantly surprised voice sounded nearby.

Might Guy turned his head slightly.

Standing beside the bed was a small figure.

Both hands glowed with soft green Chakra as they pressed gently against Guy's chest.

The child wore round glasses and had short gray hair.

He looked extremely young.

Might Guy himself was only nine and a half years old, yet this child looked to be merely six or seven.

Little Medical Ninja.

His movements were extremely focused.

And his Chakra control was astonishingly stable.

"Very impressive Medical Ninjutsu."

A hoarse voice carrying unique magnetism suddenly came from the entrance of the tent.

Might Guy's body stiffened instantly.

His gaze swept past the little Medical Ninja's shoulder.

Then he saw the figure leaning casually against the tent entrance.

Orochimaru.

At this moment, Orochimaru was staring at the child performing Medical Ninjutsu with obvious interest.

The little Medical Ninja's hands paused slightly after hearing the voice.

However, he did not stop treating Guy.

Instead, he quietly replied in a low voice.

"Thank you for your praise, sir."

"What is your name?"

Orochimaru asked calmly.

"My name is Yakushi Kabuto."

The little boy answered obediently.

Yakushi Kabuto?!

Guy's heart instantly trembled.

It was actually Kabuto?

No wonder he had looked so familiar earlier!

Orochimaru gave a faint nod.

He said nothing else.

He merely silently remembered the name.

Then he slowly walked forward and stopped beside Guy's bed.

His snake-like golden eyes landed directly on Guy's face.

They carefully examined him with visible curiosity.

"Might Guy?"

Orochimaru spoke slowly, his tone still calm and flat.

Guy's heart tightened slightly.

His throat suddenly felt somewhat dry.

He knew very clearly that Orochimaru was currently one of Konoha's Legendary Sannin.

The hero who had personally saved Mount Kikyo.

But Guy also knew even more clearly.

This man was absolutely not some kind-hearted individual in essence.

To be noticed by someone like Orochimaru...

...was definitely not a good thing.

"Yes, Lord Orochimaru."

Guy replied hoarsely while attempting to sit up.

But the moment he moved, weakness spread through his body.

Orochimaru casually raised a hand and pressed downward, signaling him not to move around.

"You performed very well."

"On the battlefield, you saved many people."

The praise was brief.

No obvious emotion could be heard from his tone.

Guy pursed his lips slightly and remained silent.

Orochimaru then changed the topic directly.

"The technique you used against Pakura at the end."

"The golden phantom behind you..."

"It was very interesting."

As he spoke, unconcealed excitement appeared within Orochimaru's pupils.

It was the excitement of a researcher discovering excellent experimental material.

Guy's heart jolted slightly.

When he used the Calamity-Crossing Blade earlier, he had not expected such a special phenomenon to appear.

A humanoid golden phantom standing behind him.

That scene...

...looked extremely similar to a certain ultimate technique of the Uchiha Clan.

Guy's thoughts rapidly turned inside his head, though his outward expression remained calm.

"That was... a Taijutsu combined with a special Chakra application method I accidentally comprehended myself."

Guy carefully chose every word, trying to make his tone sound as natural as possible.

"As for the exact principle..."

"I'm actually not very clear about it either."

"Not clear..."

Orochimaru slowly licked the corner of his lips.

He originally intended to continue questioning him further.

However, he suddenly stopped himself.

There were still many injured people and Medical Ninja inside the tent.

Although they deliberately lowered their voices or pretended to stay busy.

It was obvious that all of them were secretly listening.

Every Ninja possessed their own secrets.

Especially on the battlefield.

Questioning a child who had just performed exceptionally well in front of everyone.

That would be extremely inappropriate.

Orochimaru's golden pupils narrowed slightly.

He stared at Guy for several seconds.

A moment later.

A faint and chilling smile slowly curled at the corner of his mouth.

"Heh... very impressive comprehension ability."

He did not continue pressing the matter.

He merely looked at Guy twice more, as though engraving Guy's appearance deeply into his memory.

Then he turned around and silently walked out of the medical tent.

Guy watched Orochimaru's figure disappear behind the tent flap.

The corner of his mouth twitched slightly.

Being targeted by Orochimaru...

...was absolutely not a good thing.

"Might Guy! You're awake?!"

"How are you feeling?"

At that moment, two familiar figures suddenly rushed into the tent.

Ebisu and Shiranui Genma.

Both of their faces were filled with relief and lingering worry after surviving the disaster.

Guy temporarily suppressed his concerns regarding Orochimaru and looked toward them.

"I'm fine."

He attempted to move his arms and shoulders slightly.

The Chakra within his body had already recovered considerably.

The Muscle-Tendon Change Classic continued circulating automatically, slowly nourishing his exhausted body.

His wounds had all been properly bandaged.

The pain had also lessened significantly.

However, deep mental exhaustion still lingered heavily within him.

Leaving him with very little strength.

"How long was I unconscious for?"

"Two days!"

Ebisu immediately answered.

He directly flopped onto an empty bed nearby.

"You've been unconscious for two whole days! You nearly scared us to death!"

Genma, now chewing on a brand-new senbon, also nodded repeatedly.

His eyes still carried traces of lingering fear.

"How's the battlefield situation?"

Guy asked quietly.

Ebisu and Genma exchanged glances.

Their expressions immediately became somewhat grim.

Ebisu pushed up his slightly crooked sunglasses before lowering his voice.

"It was terrible..."

"On Konoha's side, including the later reinforcements, nearly eight hundred people died altogether."

"As for Sunagakure..."

"It's said their corpses almost covered the valley behind the battlefield. At least fifteen or sixteen hundred died."

He paused briefly before speaking in an even lower voice.

"Captain Choza spent the last two days leading those who could still move to clean up the battlefield and identify corpses..."

"Many of them were..."

Genma calmly took over the conversation, though his tone remained heavy.

"In short, Konoha won."

"Sunagakure retreated."

"And Rasa escaped with the remnants of his forces."

"Lord Orochimaru led a pursuit for some distance, but he didn't chase too deeply."

"Right now, we're waiting for envoys from the Land of Fire and for new orders from the village."

Guy silently nodded.

Konoha had won.

But the price paid had been horrifying.

This was war.

"What about Sarutobi Sosuke?"

Guy suddenly remembered and asked.

Ebisu's face instantly darkened.

He gritted his teeth angrily.

"That bastard!"

"The moment the battle ended, he used severe injuries as an excuse and had himself escorted back to Konoha immediately!"

"He ran faster than anyone else!"

Genma, chewing on his senbon, also revealed a cold expression.

"He left in such a hurry."

"Once he gets back to Konoha... who knows how he'll twist the truth and steal the credit for himself."

"Don't worry!"

At this moment, a nearby Konoha Chunin lying on another bed suddenly spoke up.

His arm was wrapped in thick bandages, but his expression was extremely serious.

"If that guy dares to spew nonsense..."

"Then the more than three hundred of us survivors aren't blind."

"We'll all testify for you!"

"That's right!"

Another injured Ninja nearby also forced himself upright.

His voice was hoarse but extremely firm.

"Might Guy, we all saw everything."

"If you hadn't delivered the warning."

"If you and Captain Choza hadn't fought desperately..."

"Mount Kikyo would've fallen long ago!"

"Exactly!"

Several other injured Ninja within the tent also echoed in agreement.

Some even struggled to raise their uninjured hands and give Guy awkward thumbs-ups.

Guy looked toward everyone.

Warmth slowly rose within his heart.

A grin unconsciously appeared on his face.

He did not know exactly what would happen to Sarutobi Sosuke afterward.

But he truly was not worried.

These surviving three hundred-plus Ninja had already witnessed Sarutobi Sosuke's true face with their own eyes.

Whether it was the incident involving the letter requesting reinforcements earlier.

Or later when Guy seized the command whistle and openly challenged him in the center of camp.

As long as Sarutobi Sosuke dared to distort the truth.

There would naturally be living witnesses willing to speak for Guy.

Ebisu and Genma chatted with him for a while longer before reminding him to rest properly and finally leaving the tent.

Guy quietly lay back down.

His gaze drifted toward the tent ceiling once more.

He stopped thinking about Sarutobi Sosuke entirely.

Compared to that coward.

Guy cared much more about what his own future arrangements would be.

According to the memories from his previous life.

After the Battle of Mount Kikyo ended, Konoha's forces would undergo major redistribution.

Guy was not certain whether he himself would remain here or be transferred elsewhere.

However, one thing was certain.

Eventually.

He would definitely head toward the Kirigakure battlefield.

There...

He would encounter the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.

"Will I leave next?"

"Or will there still be other arrangements first?"

Guy gently shook his head and stopped thinking further.

The lingering mental exhaustion quietly surged upward again.

Before he realized it.

He had already fallen asleep once more.
