CHAPTER 71
Sarutobi Sosuke clutched his shoulder as he fled toward the ruined section of the camp.
He curled up behind a collapsed wooden beam while trembling uncontrollably.
Rasa was still tightly entangled by Choza and unable to break free, but the killing intent overflowing from his eyes had almost become tangible.
"Pretending!"
"Even now, he's still pretending!!"
Rasa hated Sarutobi Sosuke to the bone.
"Pakura!!"
While manipulating the Gold Dust to block Choza's giant fists, he turned his head and roared toward the chaotic battlefield.
Pakura leaped out from the Sunagakure ranks and landed beside Rasa.
"My lord!"
"Go kill that commander!"
Rasa pointed directly toward the direction where Sarutobi Sosuke was hiding.
"No matter what, bring me his head!"
Rasa's voice was cold enough to freeze the air.
Pakura glanced toward the ruined camp.
She immediately spotted Sarutobi Sosuke hiding behind the broken beam.
But from the corner of her eye, she also saw that familiar green figure moving through the nearby battlefield.
Might Guy.
That brat who had humiliated her before and escaped from her hands.
Pakura clenched her teeth tightly while unwillingness flashed across her face.
She had been staring at Might Guy for a very long time already.
Ever since the chaotic battle started, she had constantly searched for an opportunity to personally kill that brat and wash away her humiliation.
But now Rasa had given an order.
On a battlefield, how could killing one brat possibly be more important than killing the enemy commander?
If Sarutobi Sosuke died, Konoha's morale would instantly collapse.
This battle would already be half won.
But killing that brat...
Would have absolutely no effect.
The morale of Konoha would not change in the slightest.
Pakura glared hatefully toward Might Guy's direction one final time before turning around and charging straight toward the camp ruins.
"Scorch Release: Great Steam Murder!!"
Three blazing fireballs materialized around her body.
Any Konoha shinobi who attempted blocking her path instantly had their bodies dried out upon contact.
Might Guy had just cut down a Sunagakure Genin using the Precept-Breaking Blade.
Suddenly, a chill crawled across his back.
He abruptly turned his head and instantly met Pakura's killing gaze.
But in the next second, Pakura turned away and rushed in another direction.
Might Guy immediately followed her line of movement with his eyes.
That direction was exactly where Sarutobi Sosuke was hiding.
Might Guy quietly let out a breath of relief.
Just moments earlier, after sensing Pakura's gaze, he had remained on full alert the entire time.
Back in the forest, he escaped only because of careful calculations and Pakura underestimating him.
If they truly fought head-on on this battlefield right now, he definitely was not Pakura's opponent.
It was a good thing she had been diverted elsewhere.
The pressure on him immediately lessened slightly.
But only slightly.
Sunagakure still possessed the overwhelming advantage in numbers.
Looking around the battlefield, enemies were everywhere.
Kunai.
Wind blades.
Fireballs.
Earth spikes.
People were dying every single second.
Just as Might Guy caught his breath, a cry of alarm suddenly entered his ears.
A Konoha Chunin was being flanked by two Sunagakure shinobi while a shuriken shot straight toward his exposed back from the side.
Might Guy kicked off the ground instantly.
His Mercy Blade moved in one smooth motion.
Clang!!
The incoming shuriken was knocked away.
The shaken Chunin turned his head toward Might Guy and was just about to speak—
"Watch the front!!"
Might Guy had already rushed past him.
Mercy Blade, Second Form: Boy Hanging Picture.
The horizontal slash instantly forced back the Sunagakure shinobi in front.
The Chunin seized the opportunity and counterattacked with a backhand slash that cut directly across the enemy's shoulder.
The two instantly resolved the crisis together.
The Chunin opened his mouth to thank him, but Might Guy had already turned and charged toward another nearby skirmish.
At this point, Might Guy had already seen the battlefield situation clearly.
There were simply too many Sunagakure shinobi.
Trying to rely solely on the Precept-Breaking Blade to kill enemies would never end.
But every Konoha shinobi he saved meant one more fighter remaining on the battlefield.
At this moment, the Mercy Blade was far more useful than the Precept-Breaking Blade.
Might Guy moved continuously through the chaotic battlefield.
Wherever someone was in danger, his blade always arrived one step ahead.
"Mercy Blade, Third Form: Watching Fish by the Stream!"
The blade swept past the ribs of a Konoha Genin while deflecting the incoming Kunai aimed at him.
With a smooth pull, the attacking Sunagakure shinobi immediately lost balance and stumbled.
The Genin instantly seized the opportunity and kicked the enemy to the ground.
"Mercy Blade, Fourth Form: Drawing the Bow to Aim the Target!"
Might Guy leaped into the air while the tip of his blade knocked away three shuriken aimed toward a Jonin's back.
The Jonin looked back at him and nodded once before immediately weaving hand seals.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!!"
The giant fireball blasted forward and forced back an entire group of Sunagakure shinobi.
Might Guy landed on the ground without stopping his movements for even a moment as he continued searching for the next comrade who needed saving.
Every single time he rescued someone, the proficiency of the Mercy Blade rose rapidly.
His understanding of the Mercy Blade deepened at an astonishing speed amidst blood, screams, and battlefield chaos.
This was no longer practice on a training ground.
This was genuine battlefield salvation.
Every swing of his blade could potentially save another life.
Might Guy's figure continuously weaved through the battlefield.
His green jumpsuit was already stained with patches of blood, yet the light of his blade remained steady.
He no longer cared about kill counts.
He cared only about saving people.
The more comrades he could save, the greater Konoha's chances of victory became.
In the distance, the battle between Choza and Rasa had already reached a white-hot stage.
Gold Dust and giant fists clashed repeatedly while violent shockwaves exploded outward again and again.
Rasa's expression became increasingly ugly.
Time after time he attempted breaking through Choza's defenses to kill Sarutobi Sosuke.
And every single time, Choza blocked him.
"The Akimichi Clan..."
"So damn troublesome!!"
Rasa suddenly clapped both hands together.
The surrounding Gold Dust instantly transformed into countless sharp spikes before shooting toward Choza like torrential rain.
Choza neither dodged nor retreated.
He simply crossed his enlarged arms in front of his body.
Ding ding ding ding!!
The Gold Dust spikes pierced violently into his arms.
Most were deflected away, but several still stabbed into his flesh while beads of blood seeped outward.
Choza released a muffled grunt but refused to retreat even a single step.
Because he knew very clearly.
He could not retreat.
Not for the sake of Sarutobi Sosuke.
But because behind him
Was Konoha.
Were the comrades still fighting desperately on this battlefield.
A vicious light flashed through Rasa's eyes as he prepared unleashing another killing move.
"Ahhhhhhh!!"
A shrill scream suddenly rang out from the direction of the ruined camp.
It was Sarutobi Sosuke's voice.
Rasa and Choza both immediately turned their heads.
Pakura was standing beside the collapsed beam.
Three Scorch Release fireballs floated around her body.
Sarutobi Sosuke had collapsed onto the ground while one of his left arms had already shriveled and turned charcoal black.
That was the result of merely being grazed by Scorch Release.
His face was pale like paper.
Tears and mucus covered his face while he desperately crawled backward.
"Help me... save me... somebody save me..."
Pakura looked down at him coldly.
Then she slowly walked toward Sarutobi Sosuke step by step.
