One Piece: SSS-Rank Haki at Age Seventeen

Chapter 188: When the Empress’s Candlelight Dinner Collides with an Apocalypse-Level Duel?!

The battle raged on from blazing noon until the stars filled the night sky.

The entire island—and the surrounding sea—had become a forbidden zone for life.

The heavens were smeared with torn clouds and lingering whirlpools of Haki, turning the sky into chaotic shades of purple and black.

The land was utterly devastated. Rivers of molten lava slowly flowed through bottomless fissures carved into the earth.

The sea roared endlessly, as if mourning the cataclysmic battle taking place above it.

BOOM—!!!

A dull impact unlike any previous explosion erupted.

Rayleigh's figure shot downward like a burning meteor, smashed into the earth by a devastating punch descending from above.

The already shattered ground collapsed instantly, crystallizing under the pressure as a massive crater formed. Dust and shattered stone were blasted hundreds of meters into the sky by the shockwave.

At the center of the crater—

Silvers Rayleigh knelt on one knee, supporting himself with his sword.

A mouthful of scorching blood finally spilled from his lips, dripping onto the heated rock with a faint hiss.

Every bone in his body groaned under unbearable strain.

His mouth and nose were filled with the metallic taste of blood.

Yet—

"Ha… hahaha… HAHAHAHA!!!"

Laughter rose from the crater.

Low.

Deep.

But filled with exhilaration.

The pain.

The blood.

The suffocating pressure of standing on the edge of life and death—

Instead of extinguishing his fighting spirit, it was like oil poured onto a fire that had lain dormant for decades.

Memories flooded back.

The days when he sailed beside Gol D. Roger, challenging the world and exploring unknown seas.

The thrill of adventure.

The pulse of battle.

All of it surged back to life.

Rayleigh lifted his head.

Through the smoke and dust, his bloodstained gaze locked onto the straw hat fluttering in the sky.

Pride.

An indescribable, overwhelming pride surged through him, drowning out the pain.

Look, Roger…

This is the new era we dreamed of.

This reckless sun… carrying on our will.

HUM—!!

A burst of Conqueror's Haki erupted from Rayleigh once again—far more violent and rebellious than before.

Dark red lightning didn't merely coil around him anymore.

It slithered like living serpents, devouring the surrounding air and earth.

His bloodstained hand slowly tightened.

Fingers closed around the sword hilt once more.

This was no simple grip.

In that moment, his entire lifetime of swordsmanship, combat experience, and kingly will poured into the blade.

High Above

Luffy hovered in the sky between moonlight and swirling clouds.

The edge of his straw hat was scorched, yet it remained firmly on his head.

His black hair whipped wildly in the raging wind.

His clothes were torn to shreds, dried blood forming dark red patterns across his body like battle markings.

Looking down, his eyes held no pity.

No hesitation.

Only blazing excitement—and recognition.

His right fist clenched tightly.

Black-red Conqueror's Haki Infusion writhing around it like a living creature.

Every clash with a legend like Rayleigh was like adding the finest fuel to the flame of his Haki.

It devoured power.

It evolved through conflict.

Becoming denser.

More terrifying.

Luffy could feel it clearly.

The "voice" of his fist was growing stronger.

"Come!!!"

No elaborate words.

One shout.

One laugh.

That alone was the loudest battle cry.

Final Clash

WHOOSH—!!!

At the same moment—

The crimson sword intent rising from below and the dark fist power descending from above both moved.

One surged toward the heavens.

The other crashed toward the earth.

Two figures became meteors once again, tearing through the night as the world collapsed around them.

This time—

There would be no probing attacks.

Only a clash beyond limits.

A collision of everything they possessed—

Their power.

Their will.

Their inherited legends.

The final confrontation.

Meanwhile — Amazon Lily

Night had fallen.

Yet the highest palace of Amazon Lily remained brightly illuminated.

A magnificent banquet covered the long table.

But the carefully prepared dishes had long since lost their warmth, sitting quietly beneath the candlelight like forgotten offerings.

Inside the silent hall, two breathtakingly beautiful women formed a striking contrast.

"Hancock, when is Luffy coming back already?!"

Yamato broke the silence.

She wore a long white kimono, but there was nothing elegant about her posture.

She was enthusiastically attacking the food in front of her with chopsticks, cheeks puffed out like a greedy snow wolf.

Talking while chewing, she complained:

"If he doesn't come back soon, all this delicious food is going straight into my stomach! He'd better not regret it later!"

At the other end of the table sat Boa Hancock.

Resting her cheek on her hand, her long black hair cascaded across the polished table like a waterfall.

The woman hailed as the most beautiful in the world looked even more enchanting under candlelight.

Yet her expression carried faint confusion and irritation.

She sighed softly.

"I've already sent the Kuja warriors to search the surrounding seas… Let's wait a little longer."

"Oh? Really?"

Yamato paused mid-bite, suddenly remembering something.

She quickly put down her chopsticks and wiped the corner of her mouth awkwardly.

After all, if Luffy returned and discovered she'd eaten his share too…

That might be a little childish.

Then Yamato looked at Hancock curiously.

Her red eyes blinked.

"Hey… wait a second!"

She suddenly exclaimed in genuine amazement.

"Hancock… you seem even more dazzling lately!"

"I can't explain it… but it's like your whole body is glowing! What happened?"

The words landed like a stone dropped into still water.

Hancock froze.

The hand supporting her cheek slipped slightly.

Then—

A blush suddenly erupted across her neck and cheeks, spreading to the tips of her ears.

Her beautiful face turned crimson.

Her gaze wandered.

The dignified Pirate Empress instantly lost her regal composure, replaced by shy sweetness.

Her eyes softened dreamily.

The corners of her lips curved unconsciously.

As if her soul had drifted somewhere far away—

To a secret memory shared only between her and one particular man.

"…Huh?"

Yamato stared at her, stunned.

This was completely different from Hancock's usual proud demeanor.

Buru Buru Buru—!

The Den Den Mushi on the corner of the table suddenly rang loudly.

The sharp sound shattered the quiet palace.

It also yanked Hancock out of her pink-colored reverie.

Almost instantly, she grabbed the receiver.

Her earlier laziness vanished, replaced by the commanding aura of the Pirate Empress.

"Is that the scouting team?"

"Did you find Luffy?!"

BOOM—!!!

Instead of a report, a deafening roar came from the Den Den Mushi.

A thunderous explosion.

Howling winds.

The furious roar of crashing waves.

The snail perfectly mimicked the terrifying soundscape.

Hancock's eyebrows knit tightly.

Her fingers turned pale from gripping the receiver.

That didn't sound like a normal battle.

It sounded like the arrival of a natural disaster.

A bad premonition gripped her heart.

"What happened?"

Her voice turned cold and commanding.

"Report immediately!"

From the other side came rapid breathing.

The signal was clearly unstable.

The Kuja warrior's voice trembled with shock.

"Re-reporting… Empress!!"

"We found… found Lord Luffy!"

"He's about one hundred nautical miles northeast of Kuja City on an uncharted island… but…"

She seemed to gather courage before finishing.

Then she shouted in disbelief:

"Lord Luffy is fighting… fighting the Dark King, Silvers Rayleigh!!!"

The Scout Ship

Far out at sea—

A Kuja scouting ship struggled among mountain-like waves, tossed like a leaf that could be swallowed at any moment.

At the bow, the warrior reporting gripped the railing with one hand and the Den Den Mushi with the other.

Her face was pale.

Her pupils shrank with terror.

In the distance—

The island itself could barely be recognized anymore.

Instead there was a domain of destruction, swallowed by purple-black Haki storms, crimson and black lightning, and towering columns of dust and sea spray.

Even from this distance, the shockwaves nearly knocked her off her feet.

The sea smelled scorched.

The sky was torn apart.

The ocean boiled.

The land—

Perhaps no longer existed.

This wasn't a battle between humans.

It was the clash of mythical demons.

A natural disaster powerful enough to redraw the map.

"The world… is being shattered…"

Her voice trembled as another catastrophic explosion echoed through the Den Den Mushi.

Back in the Palace

"Rayleigh?!"

Hancock's grip tightened.

The blush from earlier vanished instantly.

In its place rose a dark, brewing fury.

The apocalyptic explosions from the Den Den Mushi sounded, in her ears, like the triumphant laughter of a troublesome old man.

"So let me get this straight—"

Her voice rose sharply.

Each word was cold as ice.

"Luffy couldn't return in time for our candlelight dinner…"

"…because that shameless old man decided to cause trouble?!"

"Gulp—"

Yamato instinctively shivered.

A visible dark aura seemed to rise from Hancock's body.

This was nothing like the shy woman from moments ago.

Her eyes now burned with furious flames.

Yamato thought nervously:

This Hancock… might actually be scarier than Kaido when he's angry.

Suddenly—

Hancock stood up.

Her jeweled purple high heels struck the marble floor with sharp, rapid clacks.

Like war drums.

She didn't even bother fixing her hair or dress.

Her entire presence radiated the aura of a queen marching to war.

She headed straight for the palace doors.

Passing the table—

She grabbed Yamato's wrist and pulled.

"Stop eating!"

Hancock didn't even look back.

"Come with me."

"Huh? Wait—HEY?! Hancock! My red bean mochi soup isn't—"

Yamato stumbled as she was dragged forward.

Her face showed pure confusion.

But the terrifying aura radiating from Hancock made her swallow the rest of her complaint.

Like a large dog forcibly dragged away by a giant predator, she could only look back mournfully at the unfinished feast—

While stumbling after the furious Pirate Empress.

The palace doors burst open.

The night wind rushed inside.

It lifted Hancock's long black hair.

But it couldn't extinguish the determination burning in her eyes—

As she marched straight toward the battlefield.
