Chapter 96: Ange back story 2 (laboratory)
That day, the kids were moved to a private research center. A laboratory.
Meanwhile, Victor sat in his domain and smiled maliciously.
"Money... money..." he whispered.
The knights arrived at a place that looked like a school.
The moment Ange stepped in, she felt terror.
Her body trembled a little and stopped.
For a few seconds, she thought everything was normal.
It was a big lie.
As they entered the gate of the building, there was a lady.
A motherly woman with a warm smile.
All the kids relaxed for a moment.
The knight followed a maid inside.
It was actually a school. Then they moved to the underground of the building.
There were all sorts of people. Mages, scientists, alchemists.
All trying to create something.
The place was white. Glass covered everything.
There were numerous kids.
Some shouted in pain.
Others just stared at them.
The knight put Ange down.
She felt someone was observing her.
She stopped and turned.
A kid gazed at her with eyes wide open.
Ange got afraid.
"Move, kid," the knight spoke.
The children followed them.
At one moment, a girl ran out of the place.
The maid accompanying them turned and gazed at her with a smile.
As soon as the girl reached the entrance, a spell automatically activated
and shot a laser beam into her brain.
The kid fell to the ground, dead.
Her brain slowly leaking out.
Immediately, the maid put her finger to her mouth.
"No noise."
The kids froze.
Then they followed her.
The knights left the place.
There were two passages. One to the left, one to the right.
In front, scientists, alchemists, and crazy mages stood.
They gazed at the kids like experimental toys.
There were 20 of them.
Each got assigned to a scientist.
At that moment, only one kid was left over.
And only one researcher remained.
He was the worst.
He didn’t even know how to use mana.
And for all the people that possessed it, he was somehow their enemy.
The other researchers thought in their minds:
`_Poor thing... she’s going to die soon._`
Then they all smiled.
The maid said with a warm smile, "See you later, kid. For dinner."
Silence settled and she walked away.
All the kids were surprised, afraid.
Then all the researchers moved with their respective child.
But one didn’t move.
The madman. That was his nickname.
He had circles under his eyes.
He looked at her and said slowly,
"Do you have mana? Can you use it?"
Ange shook her head no.
He smiled maliciously, grinning and showing all his teeth.
"Then I will make you use it. Through you, I will accomplish great things."
At once, Ange walked backward.
The next second, he held her arm and dragged her to her room.
It was made of glass.
All the equipment for his experiment was already ready.
In the room were two big tables and some research equipment.
As they entered, he made her sit down and took a mask.
He tried to cover her mouth with it.
She refused.
He slapped her twice. A tooth fell out of her mouth.
He used force.
He gazed at her, then turned and looked at the equipment.
`I forgot to ask for melatonin... or a sleeping spell
He scratched his head.
"I don’t know how to use magic... Always money. I need it."
He took a syringe and drew something from Ange’s body.
Analyzed it with a magic object.
As he analyzed it, he whispered, "Magic... magic..."
"It’s still here."
He forced a substance he made into her.
80% of the people he used it on died.
He carried her and threw her onto the table.
Saliva was dripping from his mouth as he inserted the substance into her veins.
Suddenly, Ange shook like a vibrating machine.
Vomiting blood onto her mask.
Almost no sound came out because of the mask.
Her eyes turned bloodshot.
She screamed and fainted.
A while later, she opened her eyes.
The researcher was gone.
The maid came with her food and removed Ange’s mask.
Ange didn’t want to eat.
She took the spoon and forced it into her mouth until Ange obeyed.
30 minutes later, the maid left.
Immediately, the scientist entered.
He stared at her and smiled in joy.
"Congratulations... And I see you can use mana now.
It’s not impossible for you. I just need to inject you with this... every day."
Ange’s throat tightened.
The researcher moved toward her and spoke.
"Can you use magic now?"
She tried.
She shook her head no.
He grabbed her with force.
She tried to defend herself.
"Others are creating all sorts of things," he hissed.
"Me? I need to go above them all."
He tied her to the table and injected her with the substance.
This time he didn’t put on her mask.
Her screaming echoed through the place.
The crazy man got angrier.
He injected her again. And again.
Blood came out of Ange’s eyes.
Her body vibrated like a machine.
Saliva moved out of her mouth.
It was as if she was dying.
At that time, the researcher’s face became serious.
He put on his glasses.
Took out a pen and started recording what was happening.
He finished writing.
Then he walked out of the place.
And Ange continued suffering.
Day one passed.
Then day two followed.
Ange’s facial expression turned cold.
In all the rooms, maids moved the kids out.
All the children moved in a line, chronological.
Then they announced the number of successful experiments
and the number of deaths.
Each researcher had something to say.
That same day, a Tuesday, all the kids ate in a big room.
Ange sat alone.
But still, she felt someone was looking at her.
She turned and saw the boy.
The one from the first day.
He looked at her too.
They stared at each other for a few minutes.
Then they continued eating.
The place was silent.
Almost no discussions.
Behind them stood the maids.
30 minutes later, a bell rang.
All the kids moved toward their respective rooms.
And the suffering continued.
Again and again.
Will this ever end?
