The Seven Sisters and Their Hidden King

Chapter 399: The Top Black Sheep

John's response stunned everyone once more, their expressions contorting with disbelief.

Robert had summoned him to the law enforcement department — this wasn't a request, it was an outright command.

And John simply said... he wasn't interested?

This man was beyond redemption!

Without warning, Brooke dropped to his knees in front of Robert Tennat and pleaded desperately for mercy.

"Guardian Tennat, John is a criminal! He deserves to die ten thousand times over. But I swear, he has nothing to do with the Long Family—or me! I barely know him! Please, please grant us a chance to make things right."

Robert narrowed his eyes with a sneer. "John frequents your home. You hosted a three-day banquet in his honor. All of Houston knows how closely tied your family is to him. Do you take me for a fool?"

Brooke's face turned deathly pale.

Not just him—the entire Long Family fell into a state of dread and panic. Regret gnawed at them like rats in a grain store.

They had flaunted their ties to John in a grand, ostentatious banquet, hoping to ride the coattails of the Flaherty Family's influence. But no one had anticipated the Flaherty Family's abrupt collapse—or that John would provoke such a monumental disaster.

Brooke stammered, his voice trembling with fear. "Guardian Tennat, this is all a misunderstanding. Our relationship with John is... strained. We've merely kept up appearances."
