Chapter 319: Make Things Hard for Him
Lucien Ward's sudden appearance had cast an unmistakable cloud over the gathering. The moment he stepped into the room, his presence felt like a wet blanket thrown over the festive atmosphere. News had spread like wildfire about the incident at Houston Martial Arts School—Bertha, the legendary figure, had been carried out by a man, a rather possessive display, and worst of all, a slap to her rear. The images had quickly circulated, and the school forum was buzzing with chaos.
When Lucien saw those pictures, a sharp pang of anger pierced through him. Bertha, his goddess, had been reduced to nothing more than a meek lamb in the hands of John. The thought of it twisted in his chest. He longed to rip John apart. The jealousy, the possessiveness, the sheer humiliation he felt—it all built up into a storm of fury.
Today, he couldn't hold it in any longer. He needed to confront John. And so, when he entered the restaurant and saw him, the anger boiled over. Lucien's hostility was palpable, and the members of the Long family immediately noticed the tension in the air. His eyes narrowed, and his body tensed as he moved toward John.
Arno, not understanding the full weight of the situation, tried to intervene. "Mr. Lopez, who is this?" he asked, trying to steer the conversation away from the escalating conflict.
John looked unfazed. "Lucien Ward is a teacher at Houston Martial Arts School," he replied, his voice cool and indifferent.
The Long family froze at the mention of Lucien's name. To teach at such a prestigious school meant Lucien held a position of power, either due to his remarkable abilities or influential background—likely both. In the martial world, figures like Lucien were untouchable, especially in Houston.
Brooke, ever eager to make connections, attempted to smooth over the tension. He hurriedly approached Lucien with a glass of wine, offering it as a gesture of respect. "Mr. Ward, I'm Brooke Long. Please allow me to propose a toast to you."
But Lucien's response was swift and cutting. He sneered at Brooke and sneered, "Who do you think you are? Get out of here!"
Brooke, caught off guard, froze, his hand still holding the wine glass. After a brief pause, he reluctantly gulped down the contents, his pride wounded but his lips sealed. The Long family members exchanged uneasy glances, understanding that Lucien had no intention of playing nice today.
