Just as Bertha was about to tell her teacher, Alexandra Flaherty, that John was the King of Horizon, her feet suddenly left the floor.

She was already out of the office, carried away in John's iron grip.

Bertha wriggled in his arms, trying to break free. But John's hold was like steel, clamped tight around her waist, making it impossible to move.
Helpless, she resorted to her usual tactic—gritting her perfect teeth and sinking them into his hand, right on the index finger covering her mouth.
It worked.
She broke free.
"John! What the hell are you doing?" she snapped, her voice a mix of confusion and anger. "We were having a good chat! Why'd you suddenly pick me up and haul me out like some damn kidnapper? You're so damn rude—I thought you were a human trafficker or something!"
John looked down at the bite mark on his hand, his expression dark.
