Inside a secret laboratory.
The entire facility was fortified—surrounded by electric fencing and guarded by heavily armed mercenaries on constant patrol.
Inside, a fair-skinned British man, Dr. Anderson, was speaking with the mercenary commander in fluent Texan dialect.
"Why haven't your men returned yet? Is something wrong?"
The commander scoffed. "Relax, Dr. Anderson. All my men are elite. Killing a few American reporters is child's play."
"Don't get complacent," Anderson warned coldly. "We're in the most critical phase of the experiment. If anything goes wrong, you'll answer for it."
"Don't worry, everything's under control—"
Boom!
Before he could finish, a searing beam of light blasted through the air, slicing open a massive hole in the electric fence.
The commander flinched. That beam had nearly taken off his head!
